NEW for June 2025 The Lido Spa - A coastal sanctuary shaped by nature
The Lido Spa at the Pointhouse is more than a wellness amenity — it's a reflection of years of dreaming, designing, and responding to the natural rhythms of the Sunshine Coast.
Born from a long-held vision to incorporate a sauna into the property, the spa evolved organically as the landscape changed. With mature trees lost to climate stress, the land opened up and invited a new kind of healing space: one built around light, flow, and connection to nature.
The name Lido draws on two inspirations: the traditional European lido — a place of stylish outdoor bathing — and the lido deck of a cruise ship, where guests gather in open air to unwind and take in the view. Guests often describe the Pointhouse as feeling like a boutique cruise, anchored in the wild — and the Lido Spa completes that experience.
As a landscape spa, the Lido integrates the elements of heat, cold, and rest through open-air design, custom cedar architecture, hot and cold plunge pools, and serene pathways inspired by Nordic and Japanese garden traditions. It offers guests a truly sensory experience that is immersive, grounding, and aligned with the natural world.
The Lido Spa is the exclusive domain of Vacation Rental guests when renting the whole Pointhouse.

Thanks for the nice review. It was great hosting you.
The Pointhouse is a wonderful property overlooking a breathtaking bay on the beautiful BC Sunshine Coast. The property is spacious, modern, clean and is very well appointed with all necessary amenities. Daily soaks in the hot tube is a most. Natural splendor abounds with large mature trees, rock formations and the natural coastline. Daily viewings of seals, Bald Eagles and other wildlife. This property is breathtaking!

Thanks for the glowing review and for leaving our house in pristine condition when you left. I hope the rest of your trip went well.
We had a nice time just relaxing at Point House with our 4 teenagers. The moon was particularly stunning each night. Did not love that Ada came at 8:15am in the morning of our checkouts even though we told her we would be leaving shortly after 9. It made us feel uncomfortable and rushed out. But- overall, we loved the house and wish we could have stayed longer.

The Pointhouse is a fabulous place to relax for the whole family, a couple or a group of friends. A longer stay is definitely recommended.
This was an unbelievable property for our three generation, extended family vacation. The waterfront location on a protected bay makes for fabulous swimming, fishing, SUPing and the views are stunning. I would never tire of the view!!! The house is very well equipped. We appreciated that there were lots of glasses/dishes/cutlery for our large group, lots of interesting places to sit outside either together or in small groups, and lots of games, interesting magazines and books to read! Heather and Bob are wonderful hosts and were very responsive. Their in-person introduction to the house on our arrival was very helpful. The unique design of the house makes for lots of sitting areas for good family times. This truly was a special vacation!

Half Moon Bay is magical and Heather's home is absolutely spectacular. Wonderful space for multiple couples to spread out. The view from my bed was like none other! A few glitches but Heather was very responsive and made every attempt to make our stay comfortable.

We enjoyed the house very much! Gorgeous architecture!
This was our first rental as a family together, so we all very much were looking forward to spending well overdue and precious time together in this gorgeous house! We also planned to use the dock, which Heather and Bob kindly rushed to put in for us, as it was the end of May and the weather was just getting sunny and warm....We were most grateful for that, as my kids arrived by boat, and we spent our days out on the water having picnics together in the local area. The house is truly divine with the glass walls and being able to see the water at all times of the day and night is luxurious and a nature lovers dream come true!
The only thing that caught me off guard and totally by surprise, was that on VRBO, there is no suggestion that you will need to sign a waiver/contract and leave an imprint of your credit card with Heather once you check in, with no limit as to what could be drawn off it should there be some break down of equipment in and around the house......After all the excitement and anticipation of our arrival, my mood dropped as I was immediately filled with fear that if something failed in this “Smart House”, like if the dock lifting mechanism broke, etc, I would be entirely responsible for fixing it with my credit card!!! So it was not the most relaxing welcome that I had anticipated......So I think if all of that information, including a copy of the waiver and contract that you will have to sign which is accompanied by the mandatory credit card information, was written and transparent in the VRBO Package, I would have perhaps been more aware and not so caught off guard.....Less on the element of surprise!
Beyond all of that, my kids and I truly had a wonderful stay together, and it is a place to become close, to bond, and to completely appreciate and to be grateful for one another......Together, we feel truly grateful for all that life has to offer......It’s a wonderful place to enjoy!

About the host
Hosted by Heather Newman
We bought the property in Dec 2005 as our future retirement home while we were still residing and working in Dawson Creek, BC. It was a successful vacation rental till Feb 2010 when we began a complete reconstruction of the main house and built a new guesthouse (Aerie) on the bluff above. We made the move to the Sunshine Coast full time in January 2011 living first in the Aerie guesthouse and finally in Jun 2012, the expanded and renovated Pointhouse. The Pointhouse operates as a boutique B&B most of the time but is available for select vacation rentals throughout the year as well as special occasions such as small weddings, meetings or other events. In 2020 we completed Studio ISO, constructed from two shipping containers onsite that were used during our earlier construction phases. The hybrid cargotecture studio serves as another accommodation option as well as extra space for art, yoga, exercise or massage. The Lido spa was completed in 2025 featuring custom sauna, cold plunge tanks, oceanfront decks, firepit area, glass dome, west coast asian fusion gardens and teahouse. With the interesting guests from all over the world true retirement is still a ways off. Fortunately, life on the coast is a more relaxed pace allowing us more playtime, family time and travel opportunities.
