About this property
Artsy Fartsy Treehouse - long or short stays
Perched among towering trees, this house feels like a lifted sanctuary—part woodland hideaway, part creative haven. Sunlight filters through the canopy and spills across the deck, where mornings begin with birdsong and the soft rustle of leaves.
A whimsical outdoor shower sits beneath the branches, offering a refreshing rinse surrounded by nature. Nearby, a dedicated craft and art corner encourages guests to slow down and embrace their own creativity—whether sketching, painting, or simply experimenting with materials inspired by the forest.
Inside, every room features work from local artists, giving the home its warm, expressive personality. Paintings, photography, handcrafted textiles, and whimsical pieces collected from the surrounding community fill the space with color and charm, making each corner feel thoughtfully curated and deeply connected to the region’s creative spirit. For larger parties (5 or more), a separate ADU is also available that includes a day bed, T.V., attached half bath, desk, and washer and dryer.
Outside, a tranquil gathering area is anchored by a large cast iron fireplace. Evenings here feel especially serene—firelight flickering through the trees, the crackle of logs, and the comforting hush of the woods. A BBQ grill makes outdoor meals effortless, turning the space into a relaxed alfresco kitchen where dinner easily drifts into stargazing.
Though wrapped in stillness and trees, the house remains just ten minutes from Blue Ridge, offering the perfect balance of secluded relaxation and convenient access to boutique shops, restaurants, and some of the region's favorite tourist attractions, including the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and Railbikes, Mercier Orchards, waterfalls on the Toccoa River, and nature trails off Aska Road. The Artsy Fartsy Treehouse is a place where art, nature, and comfort intertwine.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
If you have 4 guests or fewer in your party:
--Parties of 4 or fewer will have access to the main house only. The main house has two bedrooms (shown as Bedroom 1 with a queen bed and Bedroom 2 with two single beds in a loft), a full kitchen with gas stove and oven, fireplace, living room, and full bathroom. Please note that the main house does NOT have a washer and dryer, so IF YOU NEED TO DO LAUNDRY DURING YOUR STAY, then please let me know. It is available for an additional fee of $50 and is located in a separate ADU on the property.
If you have more than 4 guests in your party:
--In addition to the main house, you will also have access to a separate ADU with a two-person day bed, T.V., designated workspace/desk, half bath, and washer and dryer.
I DO NOT BOOK MULTIPLE PARTIES ON THE PROPERTY AT THE SAME TIME. Regardless of the number in your party, you will be the only guests on the property.
There is a gravel drive to the property. We have done our best to make the driveway as safe and well-marked as possible, but please note that this property is completely forested and can be dark at night.
The main house has central heating with a Nest adjustable thermostat and a window A/C unit. The ADU has a combination heating and air conditioning unit. You will be comfortable year-round here.
The main house also has a gas indoor fireplace. No wood is necessary for the indoor gas fireplace in the main house. However, you may wish to have a fire in the backyard cast iron fire pit. Please tend to your fire responsibily and contain the fire in the pit.
You will need to bring your own firewood for an outdoor fire. I recommend stopping at Paw Paw's Produce off of Aska Road on your way in. The cute little ma and pa farm stand has essential groceries and firewood, open until 5pm.

About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Herbst
Originally from the Midwest, I lived in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland for about one year each before diving into my career as an environmental science. I now live in Washington State where I work to keep the Puget Sound clean. My love for hosting comes from my love for travel, and it is now my way to "visit the world."
My family relocated from Chicago to the northern mountains of Georgia about 5 years ago, and we have absolutely loved the upgrade from urban sprawl to mountain views. I am so grateful to be able to share this cozy home with you, where you will be surrounded and inspired by nature.

Why they chose this property
Please read below regarding the homes' unique neighborhood of trees, trees, and more trees!
What makes this property unique
The Artsy Fartsy Treehouse is unique in a few ways. 1) There is an outdoor shower and toilet (the "Fartsy part"). 2) Each room is curated with work from local artists (the "Artsy part"). But perhaps what makes this property so unique is how excluded it is from neighbors, despite being close to all of Blue Ridge amenities just 10 minutes away. You will not hear any neighbors on this 2.25 acre property, and there is no annoying HOA to check in with.
