About the host
Hosted by Al
We're a Bay Area couple passionate about creating spaces where families and friends can truly unplug and reconnect. Al's Chalet is more than an investment — it's a place we've put real care into, from the freshly redecorated interiors to the firepit patio out back. We love hosting because we know firsthand how rare it is to find a mountain getaway that feels both luxurious and genuinely welcoming for a big group. We want every guest to leave with memories they'll talk about for years.
Why they chose this property
What drew us to Camp Connell was simple — it feels like the Sierra the way it's supposed to. No crowds, no noise, just pines as far as you can see and a community that takes pride in keeping it that way. We love that guests can spend a morning at the Big Trees Village pool with the kids, an afternoon hiking through the forest, and an evening around the firepit without ever getting in a car. That kind of effortless variety is hard to find
What makes this property unique
We've stayed in enough mountain rentals to know what's usually missing for big groups — enough bathrooms, enough sleeping space, enough common areas to actually enjoy each other's company. Al's Chalet was our answer to that. Three full baths, sleeping for twelve across thoughtfully arranged bedrooms and a loft, a grand great room built for gathering, and outdoor firepit seating for those Sierra evenings that you never want to end. Add in pool and tennis access at Big Trees Village Rec Center and you have a property that works as hard for a multigenerational family trip as it does for a friends' reunion weekend.
