Overall our stay was fine. We encountered a big challenge at check in. When we arrived we saw from outside that one of the bedrooms had a window a/c unit. Upon making our way up to the bedroom level we found several box fans running and a portable air conditioning unit in the main bedroom. For it to run correctly a hose was run through an opening at the sliding glass door, and cardboard was painter taped in the opening. (problem-can't use this balcony). Then at the main level, there was another portable a/c unit, except it was attached to a window for exhaust ventilation and a really, really loud fan blower was moving air. I called the Seaside vacation office and a lady answered the phone. She explained that the owner was to have an A/C company out to fix the air conditioning, and asked me to turn it on. There was some dialogue back and forth, but I was very frustrated at the thought of our rental being in this condition. Literally, we could not hear each other talk on the main living area level. She explained that she would have a manager call back. The manager did call, but we also realized in the meantime, that the a/c was indeed working. She offered to send someone to remove all of the a/c equipment, which I refused because we had been traveling all day and wanted to settle in, get dinner, etc. Bottom line: Seaside knew the a/c was broken, the drama could have been avoided if someone had simply checked the unit, and removed all equipment before we arrived.
