This traditional home on the shores of Lake Norman is located in a quiet cove accessible via a private road. Close to the Duke Power State Park, it is a Southern charmer with plenty of modern conveniences.

Located 10 minutes from Interstate 77, half hour from downtown Charlotte and one hour away from Greensboro and Winston-Salem, the Water Lane has over 400 feet of waterfront ideal for swimming or floating and has easy access to the main channel for boating and water-skiing.

This private home has all the amenities that complete a great outdoor vacation getaway, or a break from the stress of a business trip--- a private boat slip, 2 boat piers, 4-person paddle boat, 3-person canoe and a variety of water toys complimentary to guests.

You don’t have to go anywhere to enjoy the waters of Lake Norman!

Here are suggested THINGS to DO AROUND the property...
BOATING/CANOEING - There is no better way to enjoy the property's 400 feet of waterfront than to ride a complimentary 4-seat pedal boat around its quiet cove. We also offers a complimentary 3-person canoe for its guests.

SWIMMING - The property’s shoreline and quiet waters is ideal for swimming. Water depths are between 8-12 feet, with a small beach area during spring and summer. Complimentary water tubes, beach towels, beach chairs are available for all guests.

FISHING - The best catch includes catfish, brem, bass on the property’s docks and pier. Complimentary fishing poles available upon request.

Large shopping centers (Super Target, Super Wal-Mart, etc) are 10 minutes away with numerous restaurants and grocery stores.

Family Getaway

Lots of bedrooms and beds, right on the lake, great for a family get together in a quiet cove. Great communication with Alicia, and we appreciated all of the lake extras with the house (kayaks, noodles, lily pad, etc) which added to the fun.

Perfect for our extended family stay

Wonderful location on Lake Norman. Lots of amenities provided that kept all 18 of us, from age 3 to 73, entertained and comfortable. Space for all, fishing, canoes, kayaks, life jackets, pots, and more. We already had our adult children ask that we consider renting it again. Thank you!

We Loved the House!

Everything was clean and the beds and other furniture comfortable. Most of all, our beloved dogs were welcome, too. The house is in a quiet, peaceful area and the only way we could have enjoyed it more is if we had had the time to enjoy the outdoors more; we were there for a grandchild's wedding and had lots of things to do, and had only the day after the wedding to relax and enjoy the house itself. Highly recommend this rental for family gatherings!

Great property on Lake Norman

Very private cove on Lake Norman. The home is comfortable and big enough for our family of 17. Plenty of fun on the water and hanging around the property. We rented both the large home and the cottage. Would recommend for families looking for a quiet place to spend time together. Hosts are next door but not intrusive

Great place!

My family likes to gather for New Years and we selected this location for ease of driving from PA and GA and because of the large number of bedrooms. It worked out very well, especially with the cottage. The cottage also has another kitchen which was great to have for refrigerator and oven space since we cooked there the whole time. The lake is beautiful! We may have to return for warmer weather.

Family Fun in Troutman

This property is located on a quiet leg of Lake Norman. Perfect for a large family gatherings: fishing/swimming dock, huge porch and a large gazebo, plenty of lawn for outside games. So many amenities. The owners are very nice and respond quickly to questions or needs. My family said it was one of our best reunions. Thanks!

Graduation Weekend

We have used this house before for a birthday weekend for my husband's mother. It was very nice returning and everyone already knew which rooms they liked and the house layout made it much better. The kids enjoyed the lake while kayaking and swimming. Another plus is less than 10 minutes to Lake Norman State Park which has hiking trails and a swim beach.

Amazing house & cottage on Lake Norman!!

The house & cottage were fantastic!! Location on Lake Norman was ideal, the bedrooms/bathrooms worked out perfectly, beds are super comfy (top notch comforters & sheets), fishing on dock was fun, kayaks/canoe/paddleboat got plenty of use, lots of decks and outdoor seating areas, house is very spacious, two big screen TVs, a nice game room, kitchen well equipped, and owners are very rrsponsive. No complaints. Definitely a 10 star rating.

Lake Norman Getaway

Our family aged 67- 18 months thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property. Well appointed with everything needed for a week at the lake. We especially appreciated the dock, the kayaks, paddleboat, water carpet and canoe that came with the property. What a great time!! House and cottage were very clean, and had everything that we needed to make the time very relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks!

Family Reunion - Party of 16

The Lane House was as described, but even more attractive when experienced in person. It was perfect for our Party of adults, 5 couples and 6 singles. Even had a couple of vacant twin beds. Kitchen was well outfitted and there were plenty of towels in the bathrooms. As a senior member of contingent, our master bedroom with separate shower and bathtub was terrific. We all spent many hours reminiscing on the attached decks and under the covered, detached deck. Every member of our group had nothing but positive views of the Lane House, the guest house, and the beauty of the surroundings. Although we assembled in Troutman from across the US, it is certainly a possibility that we might choose the Lane House again for a future reunion.

Perfect Family Reunion Location

We had 12 people staying with ages 7-93 and we couldn’t have had a better accommodations. The house is well stocked with utensils, pan, dinnerware, towels, and cleaning products. The inside and outside were very comfortable and clean. They had water toys, outdoor seating and a dock to swim off on a quiet part of the lake. The hosts are so nice and were very quick to respond whenever I had a question. They couldn’t of been easier to work with and we were very pleased with the hosts and their lovely home. The location is quiet and peaceful, with plenty of parking. We would definitely return for another reunion.

Christmas at Lake Norman

The house was the perfect size for our party of 12.5! We needed at least 8 bedrooms and with the cottage this place was perfect. We had enough room to spread out and do our normal Christmas activities (watch football, play games and make gingerbread houses). A special treat for our little one was a completely decorated Christmas tree just right for Santa’s visit. Owners respond quickly to inquires. Recommend for family reunions!

Wonderful location

We were in town for a wedding. The house and cottage were great. Cottage was not as well equipped as the big house. Minor nuisance was that there were two trash cans in the kitchen which didn't open. A concern for the owner could be that the water nozzle in the fridge for water was broken which could be a problem for the owner. Overall it was a very good rental for our family.

Fun Vacation House!

Exterior needs power washing. Screens need repair. Appliances need replacing. Need room in “pantry “ for food and not so many dishes. The interior is way too formal for a “lake house”. Plenty of rooms and beds. Loved the new gazebo with walkway to dock. The porches were great. Overall we all made the best of our vacation. Would use again with updated appliances.

Wonderful location on the lake!

Beautiful, private location on a cove of Lake Norman; only trees across the cove. Good sized house, and we had everything we needed. A nice touch to provide TP, PT, dishwasher detergent, hand soap, coffee filters and even some spices. We were here during cold weather, but it would be a lot of fun in the summer months. The hosts were great and very responsive with communications. The guest house has only 3 bed rooms, not 4 as listed and they were very small. Overall the bathrooms needed extra cleaning, and there was quite a bit of decor, making it hard to utilize horizontal surfaces. But we had a great time, and would stay here again.

Pleasant Thanksgiving weekend with the family.

Nice spacious property. Clean, well equipped, and superlatively organized. Cottage rooms small and tight. One master bedroom with walk in shower for mobility challenged, like my 90 year old parents for whom I inquired about before booking, has a king bed far too high for them to use (it had a 2-step stool to access?). The second master, nice to have!, has a normal height bed but a shower tub. Normal mobility will have no issues. Includes nice additions like kayaks nd fishing rods to use. Dated aesthetic and furniture but all was pleasant and functional. Prompt communications back from the owner or property manager. More work and checkout instructions than more user-friendly Vrbo’s- just allow some extra time for tasks before the earlier than normal check-out of 10:00 AM. Big family or friend group to stay in one location, I can overall highly recommend.

This house is amazing!

What a beautiful place to hold a family and friends get together for my daughters 30th birthday. Everyone just walked in and said “Wow!” The house is huge with a beautiful lot, right on the lake. The guest house is also beautiful and well equipped. Everything you need is there. We all felt perfectly at home. The beds were all super comfortable. When you find a place like this to rent, don’t hesitate. The owner is super responsive. I cannot wait to come back next summer and enjoy all Lake Norman has to offer. great location on Lake Norman

9 bedrooms! But the cottage bedrooms are very small. Would be helpful to take out the wardrobes and just have luggage racks there. Main house has large bedrooms and is great! Clearing out the house's decorative items would leave room for better usage by renters. Wonderful view and located near the end of an inlet makes for wonderful water swimming/sports/play. Thoroughly enjoyed the cover lower deck during the day. Also used the canoe, kayak, paddleboat. Housed our famly reunion of 14 adults and 5 children. We rented a pontoon boat for 2 days at the marina just 8 minutes away. Get special instructions from owners on opeining the cottage lock before going as it is tricky.

Both of us grew up near the water -- He lived most of his life on coast of Georgetown and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, whereas I grew up in the tropical islands of the Philippines. After retiring from a busy IT career, I am rekindling my passion for resort/property management by sharing our waterfront family compound on Lake Norman to visiting guests and their families in the area.

Why they chose this property

Troutman is a quaint little town on the north side of Lake Norman. We found this 'piece of paradise' as a quick getaway place from the hustle and bustle of work life 17 years ago. Not one moment of regret. The peace and tranquility refreshes our souls after a hard day's work. Why not share this special place with everyone else?
