Ada O'Day Unit 5 | Amazing Amenities & Location
You cannot do better in Bayfield in terms of location, quality, comfort, and range of amenities than the Ada O'Day Condos! Your rental is a block from the ferry, two blocks from the lake, and an easy walk to everything in Bayfield. This 2 bed, 2 bath condo has it all: open-plan living & dining with a fully-outfitted kitchen. Add in amazing lake views, gas fireplace, private deck & you have the perfect place to come home to after a day exploring all the area has to offer.
Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties all along Lake Superior's South Shore. We live nearby and are available whenever needed to assist our guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world.
The Ada O'Day condos gets you right into the heart of things in Bayfield. You’re within walking distance of everything in town, so why not spend a winter day exploring all the shops and galleries Bayfield has to offer—plus a stop or two to warm up with great food and drink, naturally. And don’t forget everything there is to see from the balcony: your view out towards Madeline Island is good all winter long, from sea smoke and shifting ice as the channel freezes over, to the return of open water—always a sight for sore eyes—at the end of winter.
If you’re into skiing, Mount Ashwabay (just ten minutes from the condo) is the top destination in the area for both downhill and Nordic. On snowshoes, check out the Ravine Trail (it’s right on the edge of town) or the Jerry Jolly trails, just a few minutes’ drive from the condo. Bayfield is also a great home base for a winter drive through the snowy fields and silent woods of the Bayfield Peninsula
Madeline Island is a great place to go in the winter: between the ferry, the wind sled, and the ice road, you can get out there all season long, and it’s just as beautiful with snow and ice as you imagine.
The first time we walked into this condo, the word that immediately came to mind was "groovy," thanks to the cool area rug in the living and dining areas. Our second thought was "wow!" thanks to all the incredible features of the place. Like all the Ada O'Dday condos, the furnishings and fixtures are top-notch. Unit 5 has an open plan living-dining-kitchen. The living area has a plush sofa and loveseat which are situated from which to enjoy the beautiful gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully outfitted with every appliance you may need (including a dishwasher and garbage disposal) and a full compliment of utensils and cookware. The dining area has ample space for four people. The absolute most impressive amenity of this condo are the views of the lake - why watch tv when you can enjoy the view of the Big Water? When the weather is warmer, you can even enjoy these views from your own private patio, located just outside the living-dining area.
The unit has two bedrooms, one with a king mattress and the second a queen-size mattress. The king bedroom has a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second bathroom has a jetted tub (don't forget to pack your bubblebath!). Should you need to refresh your clothes, the condo also has a washer & dryer.
Bayfield is a very walkable city, so your best bet is on foot.
Off street parking for one vehicle in the lot. Plenty of street parking available, except during Applefest weekend in October. Less than 15 minute drive to Mt. Ashwabay ski hill, Big Top Chautauqua, hiking trails, beaches, and more.
Public transportation on the peninsula is provided by the Bay Area Rural Transit (BART), more information can be found on their website.
An EV charging station is located in the parking lot on the corner of Washington Ave. and E. 6th St. in Washburn.
The following shuttles and ferries are also accessible on foot from the condo:
- The Madeline Island Ferry will take you out to Madeline Island and runs regularly during the late spring, summer, fall, and much of the winter.
- The BART Bus runs regularly through Bayfield and around Chequamegon Bay for a modest fee.
- Big Top Chautauqua runs shuttles for most of for their concerts and events.
