Breathtaking Views

One of the very best vacation stays we had. The cottage was lovely and well equipped with all we needed - kitchen supplies , comfortable beds, heating & air conditioning, laundry, etc. And the most breathtaking views! We were even treated to the “strawberry moon” over the BrasDor lakes.

The Location of this Property is absolutely ideal if your intent is to explore all regions of Cape Breton, which we did. The Pup and Country Church Kitchen is close by and came in handy for those eat out evenings. The Views from this property are as advertised and absolutely stunning with Sunset and Sunrises daily. Very Private location. Kevin and the Property Caretaker were attentive to a few very minor issues. Beds were comfy and the cottage had everything we needed. Mosquitoes at dusk we a bit much and thinking a screened in patio would be a bonus. Overall excellent property for our needs.

Wonderful views and location

We had an amazing time staying at the cottage. The views over the massive lake made it seem you were on the ocean! The location was perfect for us - central to everywhere we wanted to go and very close to our favourite town Baddeck. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Cape Breton!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this cottage! The location was breathtaking—nestled in nature with stunning views of the ocean and mountains. The cottage itself was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were super cozy, and the outdoor space was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.Our host was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure we had all the information we needed and checking in to ensure everything was perfect. We especially loved the little thoughtful touches that made the place feel so welcoming.If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape with easy access to Cape Breton’s beautiful trails, beaches, and scenic drives, this is the perfect spot! Beautiful setting on the Bras d’Or Lake!

The views are spectacular from this quaint little cabin. The host was very accommodating. Nice little beach to walk to from the cabin. Our drive to reach the famous Cabot Trail was less than 50 minutes.

Great Getaway

If you want to explore Cape Breton the property this is a good place to stay. Central to many spots and activities. The only negative is that if you want to stay home and enjoy the beautiful scenery and swim in the lake, the mosquitos this time of year (mid August) are deadly. Could not get to the water without being swarmed and quickly driven back.

Comfy cabin with a million dollar view!

Kevin is incredibly responsive. The cabin is extremely comfy, had everything we needed. You could plan your stay at this location and completely escape and enjoy the view, just bring plenty of mosquito repellant!

Bras d'Or Lake

Beautiful cottage and property on the lake, everything you would need other than food. We enjoyed being able to take walks without going to the main road. Not far from the Cabot Trail, restaurants nearby. Kevin was very responsive when I had a couple of questions. Would stay there again.

You’ll never want to leave

The cottage is well-equipped, comfortable and private. The area is quiet with easy access to a private beach. Our dogs enjoyed the large, gated porch where they could freely play & wrestle & cool off with the breezes off the lake. Just 2 warnings: bring heavy duty bug spray & be prepared to never want to leave.

Got kids or dogs or both? This is your spot!

Highly recommend this property! There is wide open space that gives privacy and is a dream for kids and dogs. The cottage is very comfy and clean. The trek down to the beach is a fun adventure. The host is very communicative and helpful. We used this as a base to explore Cape Breton. Lots to do close by too...Highland museum is worth the visit. We would come back for sure!

Beauty on Bras d’Or

Hands down the best location and stay at any VRBO ever! My husband agrees. People should try it in the off-season. Peace and quiet. Soft goose sounds was all we heard. Clean house, Kevin very responsive, a natural beauty unparalleled! A view so stunning you might want to stay forever! Our dog loved it, too:)

September 2022 Stay

My husband and I, and our two dogs stayed mid September. Although location is somewhat remote, the scenery is breathtaking and with a fabulous lawn/yard for walking the dogs. Kevin was the ideal host providing very thorough instructions, directions, and such to assist with our stay.; very accommodating. If you’re looking for peace and quiet with the most spectacular views, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Highly Recommend

Besides the rating above, the cottage was perfect for our family - 6 adults. There is one bedroom on the main floor with a bathroom and two downstairs with a second bathroom. The view is amazing, the beach is a short walk, the wrap around porch is perfect for morning coffee or relaxing in the evening. The cottage is very well-equipped so there is really nothing that you need to bring. Drinking water is supplied which is a bonus. If you stay here you will have to drive for supplies and activities, but that is the case in Cape Breton. We have nothing negative to say about our stay and this property.

Wonderful peaceful stay at the cottage!

My husband and I stayed at this cottage right on the water with our 2 golden retrievers. It was so peaceful and quiet- just what we like! The view was absolutely beautiful for our morning coffee and evening beverage! Kevin, the property manager, stayed in communication to make sure we had everything we needed and also let us know to not be afraid to let our dogs run freely on the property as it is a great place for them to run. Our dogs loved it to! There is an old rail way trail right in front of the house by the water which we took a beautiful walk along that leads to a private beach. 10/10 recommend. We would love to come back :)

The view was amazing and the property very private. We travelled with our 2 dogs and they had the best time running around. There was loads of space for them and it was safe. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and the cottage was peaceful and had the best views of Bra D'hor lakes.It was very comfortable and was equipped with everything you could ask for and more. There are a few restaurants close by and places to buy groceries. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was very clean it was truly a home away from home. Kevin was very nice to talk to and answered any questions we had right away. We felt welcome. All in all a very relaxing week. We appreciated the hospitality Kevin provided. If you are looking for a place to unwind and a gorgeous view this is the place. Thanks Kevin for the warm welcome.

Bras D'or Family Week

We were a large family group and stayed for the week renting both "the lobster house" and the "beach house". Both cottages are extremely well equipped with modern appliances and had everything (and more!) we could have hoped for. As it was very hot, the availability of the heat pumps for AC was very much appreciated. The view is spectacular. The accesses to the beaches near the cottages was great, and the kids really enjoyed the windier days playing in the waves. For calmer waters we also spent a lot of time down at Iona Port beach where we could use our paddleboards and the younger kids could swim and play. Right from the start, Kevin was extremely responsive to questions and willing to help in any way at all to make our holiday successful. The only annoyance was the presence of a lot of mosquitoes, so bug spray and coils etc. were very necessary. What can I say - living in nature! Great time had by all! Thanks Kevin
