About the host
Hosted by The Bennett Family
We’re a California-based family with young kids who have been coming to Maui every summer since the early 2000s. Surfing has always been a big part of our connection to the island—some of us even learned to surf at the local break right here in Puamana. Over the years, this community became more than a vacation spot; it became part of our family story.
After spending so much time here, we finally decided it was time to have a place of our own—and to share our little piece of paradise with others. We loved splitting our time between long surf sessions, evenings in town, and welcoming guests who were creating their own Maui memories.
The fires were something none of us could have imagined. Like so many in West Maui, our paradise changed overnight. But what has stood out even more is the strength and resilience of this community. Puamana is still here, still welcoming, and still full of heart. We’re proud to be part of its continued recovery and grateful for guests who choose to visit respectfully and support the area.
Hosting here means more to us than ever. Thank you for being part of that story.

Why they chose this property
Puamana has always felt like the perfect surf basecamp for us. It’s close enough to check the waves in the morning, with beginner-friendly surf nearby, mellow enough for the kids to explore, and relaxed enough to truly unwind. The neighborhood is filled with easygoing families and a laid-back energy that makes it feel welcoming from day one.
Being on the West Side of Maui, we also love that it’s sunny most days, which means more time in the water and less worrying about weather plans. We built this space to feel like the kind of place we’d want to return to after a long session in the ocean—comfortable, easy, and ready for sandy feet and sunset dinners.

What makes this property unique
What truly sets our home apart is the upstairs great room—a newly remodeled, open space designed for gathering, cooking, and unwinding together. The home was previously owned by the original owner of Mala’s Restaurant, and because of that history, the upstairs lanai was thoughtfully enclosed to create a larger kitchen footprint. We embraced that legacy and took it even further.
As a former chef myself, I designed the newly remodeled kitchen to be a true cook’s space—functional, spacious, and built for real meals, not just vacation basics. It’s a kitchen meant for fresh island ingredients, family-style dinners, and cocktails at sunset.
The upstairs layout naturally pulls everyone together after a surf session or beach day. We love to cook, surf, and make great drinks—and this home was intentionally shaped around that rhythm. If you enjoy gathering in the kitchen as much as the ocean, you’ll feel right at home here.
