About this property
Supremely serene, this large modern villa is newly created for simple luxury
Beautiful and supremely serene, this large modern 5 bedroom/4 bath villa is newly created for simple luxury, with an older, adjacent summer cottage of 2 additional bedrooms and bath that reflect authentic local charm. The property is situated on a tall hill with 50 olive and fruit trees, looking out over fields of orange groves toward the sea. Surrounded by 3 terraces, two balconies and featuring a huge barbecue kiosk and outdoor shower, the living and dining options are multiple, both inside and out. Inside, the main kitchen is fully equipped with new electric appliances, including 5 ways to make coffee. The adjacent open living room faces both the fireplace and the dining area in an airy, vaulted great room. The two bathrooms upstairs and two downstairs each include showers. There is also a large bathtub in one bathroom per floor. The bedrooms feature generous storage in the built-in wardrobes. The laundry room offers a huge washer and regular electric dryer. This is a very comfortable, workable home for up to 12 guests. The location is just outside the village of Archaia Epidavros, less than 2 hours drive from Athens Intl Airport and just a few kilometers down the road from the world-famous, 4th Century BC amphitheater and Sanctuary of Aesklepion. Parking spaces accommodate up to 5 vehicles. Wi-fi extends throughout the property, even all the way up to the top of the hill.
Olive Hill has been important to the Camerini family for a long time. We are a multi-national clan, now living in Sweden, Italy, Brazil, California, Texas and New York City. About 30 years ago, family and friends from all over the world gathered under the olive trees behind the little summer house for our wedding. Ever since, we have loved spending time here, relaxing and recharging with those same family and friends whenever we had the chance. With the new, much larger house just completed just last summer, our hope is to create a comfortable, modern place on this dear old family property for all of us to gather again, a refuge to relax any time of the year and for many years to come. We love sharing this place, and hope you will come to love it too.
Archaia Epidavros is an enduring old village, right in the heart of Ancient Greece and dating far enough back that its height may have been the 4th into the 3rd Century BC, when the town was much larger and extended out into what is now the bay off Yialasi Beach. Swimming and snorkeling among the ancient remains is still fun today. In this century, it's primarily a sleepy little farm village which comes alive in the beautiful spring to fall season when tourists flock to the area to attend performances in the annual Athens Theater Festival, either at the breathtaking 14,000 seat Ancient Theater at Epidavros or the smaller and more intimate ancient theater right in the village. There are dozens of good local restaurants and bars, all sorts of water sports easily available and a half dozen beaches right around town. Located on the east coast of the Peloponnese, the village is also close to numerous major tourist sites - Mycenae, Argos, Tyrins, and of course the glamorous nearby town of Nafplion, once a Venetian stronghold and later named the first capital city of Greece. The islands of Spetses, Poros and Hydra are an easy day trip as well.
