Villa Santa Caterina sits high on a hill behind tall cypresses and regal umbrella pines, with breathtaking views in every direction. The villa dates back to the early 18th century and was lovingly restored by my family in 1996 using authentic materials wherever possible. The bright, spacious interiors are decorated in typical Umbrian/Tuscan style, with wood beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, Oriental rugs & many antique furnishings. Villa Santa Caterina welcomes families with children and groups of friends wishing to share a typically laid- back Italian lifestyle, or culture seekers wanting to explore the picturesque medieval Umbrian towns, such as Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia, Spoleto all less than an hour drive away.
Rather than describing our vacation home, I will let our past guests describe it for you.
"Santa Caterina is a special place on earth. We were completely awed by the view upon arrival and every single time we returned to the villa. If you have an image of what an Italian Villa is like, this is it" "We had a magnificent stay at Villa Santa Caterina and cannot recommend it highly enough. The location is breathtaking at the top of a hill overlooking stunning valleys and tree-filled hills beyond. The main house is full of character and charm, lovingly restored. The cottage is delightful. The pool is unbelievably set in the garden looking out over the most amazing view"
" a perfect location if you want to explore Umbria and its wonderful villages. The house is well maintained and has a beautiful character,"
". Adrienne, the Villa on site host was amazing. She was on top of everything and quick to respond to any of our needs ,including arranging to have a charming couple come and prepare dinner for us, which was delicious."

About the host
Hosted by Marie Lerne
When I reached middle-aged I got tired of driving holidays. I had seen the Eiffel Tower and the Colosseum, I had walked the Great China Wall and visited just about every famous museum that exists. What I wanted now was a relaxing vacation surrounded by friends and family. I like entertaining but I also like being alone, listening to music or reading in the shade of an olive tree.
Why they chose this property
Umbria is known as the green heart of Italy and we are right in it. Rugged mountains, rolling hills , fields of sunflowers. Far from the city lights the night sky looks amazing and there are so many beautiful medieval towns to visit within a short driving distance, There is a beautiful and challenging golf course, two kilometers down the road with a 12th century castle under restoration which will soon be taken over by Six Senses.
