And when the weather is nice, the "real" living room is the massive deck, offering a private Sun-dappled oasis to take in the sights and sounds of the Maine woods.
KITCHEN AND DINING Built for groups who love to cook, the kitchen gives you a bright and modern space featuring full size stainless steel appliances with an array of cookware and utensils. The space features a professional grade Viking range. BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS The Crag offers exceptional group privacy across three distinct levels. Each of the first two floors features its own dedicated bedroom and full bathroom, while the third-floor Sky Loft serves as a secluded 'Summit' suite for those seeking total quiet. The primary suite features a king bed, an ensuite bath with a deep soaking tub and direct access to the deck.
The ground-floor "Base Camp" offers a private Guest Room with dual twin beds and a dedicated full bath. Ascend the Sky Passage to the third floor "Sky Loft." This secluded architectural suite features a Queen bed and reading nook. With two full bathrooms and an additional half bath conveniently located for shared use, the home easily accommodates groups without the morning rush.
LAUNDRY To keep your gear ready for the next hike, a dedicated laundry suite with a stacked washer/dryer and soaking sink is located on the main second level. It is a convenient space to refresh your outdoor layers or beach towels, ensuring you stay prepared for every adventure.
OFFICE AND WORKSPACE If you need to stay productive, the main floor sitting area includes a dedicated desk area with strong high-speed Wi-Fi. This quiet, sunlit corner is a great spot to catch up on emails or plan your next route while the rest of the group relaxes on the deck around the corner.

Why they chose this property
While most visitors to Mount Desert Island spend their vacation in traffic or hunting for parking, guests at The Crag experience the park on their own terms. This isn't just a place to stay near Acadia; it is a sophisticated architectural vantage point anchored directly to the park’s boundary.
The "Backdoor" Advantage: We are located in the only village 100% encircled by Acadia National Park. You can avoid the seasonal congestion of the Park Loop Road by simply walking out your back door to hit the trails.
A Hiker’s Private Hub: The transition from your morning coffee to the South Ridge Trail is a 4-minute walk. You are also within walking distance of the Quarry Trail, Otter Cove, and Hunters Brook, allowing you to explore the diverse terrain of the island without ever touching your car keys.
Architectural Separation: Our tri-level modern design offers excellent privacy for groups. With sleeping quarters distributed across all three floors and a central social hub on the main level, the home provides a sense of autonomy and vertical scale that traditional cottages can't match
What makes this property unique
The 33ft "Park Border" Deck: Built directly onto natural granite ledges, our expansive outdoor living space serves as a private viewing platform for the Maine woods. It’s a seamless 33-foot bridge between modern luxury and the wild.
Proximity Without the Crowds: While you are walking distance to the summit of Cadillac, you are also just an 11-minute drive from the Day Mountain carriage roads and only 9 minutes from the iconic Jordan Pond House. You get the peace of a forest village with the best of the park only minutes away.
The Solo Stove Experience: Nestled in the granite rocks just off the deck, our fire pit area offers a front-row seat to the National Park’s dark skies. It is the ultimate spot for post-hike reflection under a canopy of stars.
Vertical Modern Sanctuary: With a master-style setup on the lower level, a bright social floor in the middle, and a quiet lofted bedroom at the peak, this home is designed to feel like a private retreat for every member of your group.
