WHAT IS A ZOME? A zome is a rare architectural design structure that is formed from a series of interlocking parallelograms—creating soaring ceilings and an abundance of natural light, resulting in a sanctuary that feels like stepping inside a natural wonder.
At Zome of the Stars, that design becomes the experience. The two-story open concept layout draws your eyes upward to the dramatic star-shaped skylight, while a wall of UV tinted windows in the living room frames panoramic views of the pond, woods, and lake beyond. With its one-of-a-kind zome architecture, peaceful private pond, access to Lake Holbrook, and a wide range of outdoor activities, the property offers a getaway experience that’s both unique and hard to find.
Whether you're fishing from the dock, paddling across the water, grilling dinner outdoors, or watching a movie beneath the stars, the outdoor spaces offer plenty of ways to relax and enjoy the beauty of the property. Zome of the Stars is perfect for couples looking for a unique getaway, small groups seeking a relaxing lake retreat, and guests who enjoy fishing, kayaking, and spending time outdoors.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Located about two hours east of Dallas, Zome of the Stars offers a peaceful lakefront escape that’s still an easy weekend getaway from the city. The property is located on a quiet, tree-lined street with very few homes, creating a relaxing and secluded atmosphere.
Lake Holbrook’s public areas include a swimming beach, two boat ramps, and picnic areas, making it a popular place for boating, fishing, and enjoying time on the water.

The famous Canton First Monday Trade Days, one of the largest flea markets in the country, is about 35 minutes away.
THE TOWN OF MINEOLA Just 10 minutes away, the town of Mineola feels like something out of a Hallmark movie. Beyond the historic district, Mineola offers the conveniences of a small city, including Walmart, grocery stores, pharmacies, and a variety of dining options. Visitors who like to golf can book a tee time at the Mineola Country Club. The Mineola Nature Preserve, known as the “Birding Capital of East Texas,” is one of Mineola’s most popular attractions with its 20 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, stocked fishing ponds, disc golf course, and archery range.

About the host
Hosted by Danielle
Hi, I’m Danielle! My husband Mark and I have been married nearly 30 years and raised our two sons in Rockwall, TX.
We fell in love with East Texas while our youngest attended UT Tyler and we built a cabin there in 2022. What began as an occasional rental quickly grew into a passion as I discovered how much I love creating spaces where guests can relax and make memories.
That journey led to Zome of the Stars, created in 2026. I hope you feel the same sense of peace and joy here that inspired it
Why they chose this property
I initially chose this neighborhood for its public and private water access and potential for beautiful views. I also liked the fact that it is surrounded by trees, providing seclusion. In the year since I've owned the property I've met the neighbors and found them to be extremely friendly and welcoming. They don't seem to mind the fact that this is a vacation rental home and have been cheering me on throughout the development of the property. Taking a drive, bike ride, or boat ride around the lake is always a great way to take in the beauty of Mother Nature.
What makes this property unique
Being in a house with such a beautiful design never gets old. I still feel like I'm on vacation every time I'm there. I love that the property serves us well no matter what we're in the mood for. It's the perfect place to go whenever we're in the mood to stay at a tucked away cabin in the woods, or want to be fun and active out on the lake, or have a romantic evening with each other, or just a curl up with a book and a glass of wine.
