About the host
Hosted by Lori Bryan
I currently call the High Country of North Carolina home—mountain views, winding roads, and just enough elevation to make you feel like you’ve earned your coffee.
I work as a realtor across the state, helping people find their own version of “this is it,” whether that’s a cabin in the woods or a place closer to sea level (for those who prefer breathing without effort).
Before all this, I spent years circling the globe—85+ countries and 15 years living outside the U.S.—collecting stories, stamps, and a healthy appreciation of our freedoms in the US. My work has always centered around people: from program management with NGOs and disaster response to training survivors of war and genocide on the effects of trauma. This gives me a healthy(?) and unique perspective on everything.
One consistent theme in my life: no matter where I land—especially in deserts—I start craving to be near water like it’s a personality trait. So these days, I’ve balanced things out. The mountains may be home, but Nags Head is my chosen escape—my reset button, where the horizon stretches out and the only thing on my agenda is remembering to exhale.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because I can park my car and never use it on my vacation if I like. Everything is within an easy walk. Also, OBX beaches and restaurants are very dog friendly, and Roxy dog goes most places with me. The private sound entrance is a big plus as well for my kayak and paddleboard or a sunset evening. And people are just nice and friendly on OBX.
What makes this property unique
The uniqueness of mountain to sea for me is being able to wake up to the sunrise from the front of the house and see the sunset from the back is my favorite. As well, that I can walk the MTS from my home in the mountains to the home at the sea.
