There is written proof of the existence of the mills in a document dating back to 1391.From the access road to the Jávea Mills there are impressive views of Cabo la Nao and Cabo San Antonio. 7 metres high and 6 metres wide, with a sturdy wooden mechanism and large blades, their function was to grind wheat, taking advantage of the power of the south-westerly wind, known in this area as "llebeig". Inside, they kept all the machinery and the massive mechanisms that turned the heavy stones to grind the wheat and obtain flour. The passage of time is relentless and no longer retain the blades of any of the mills, some of the mills are in poor condition but Jávea Town Hall is trying to restore at least 3 of them and thus safeguard this beautiful historical heritage. The Jávea Tourism Department is organising a guided route lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes to visit the Monastery, the Mills of Jávea, the Hermitage, the Lighthouse and the Montgó Natural Park, from where you can enjoy incredible views and a pleasant hiking route.ROUTE COVA TALLADADAD Estimated duration of the round trip.3 hours. On the steep line of the mountain, you will find the mills of Jávea, the Hermitage, the Lighthouse and the Natural Park of Montgó.
