This creekside cottage was pretty much as advertised. It was easy to find, clean and comfortable, and quiet. We had a nice mid-week getaway here and enjoyed local attractions like paddling our kayaks at Carvin's Cove, hiking up to Dragons Tooth, and enjoying an end of hike wine at Beliveau Winery. I would recommend it and would return for another stay, maybe in the fall this time.
Host responded promptly. Main areas are very spacious and updated. Clean and pet friendly. Good water pressure but small bathroom. Close to bridge, good swimming hole but some road noise, so not as secluded as we thought. Over all though this was a nice place to spend a few days right at the creek with our pups.
Comfortable house on a country road running through Jefferson National Forest, about 10 minutes from Appalachian Trail, 30 from Roanoke -- like staying in a cabin but with better facilities. Nice patio area with Christmas lights and enclosed structure you can sit under to stay out of rain or sun, next to a rushing steam you can see and hear from inside the cabin. Lots of birds, great for sketching and painting. Don't miss the trail through the woods along the stream. Make sure not to run the microwave at the same time as the bathroom fan, but when that tripped the switch, Sean immediately responded to my message and sent someone over to fix it in minutes. Highly recommend.
Property description exactly as experienced. Lovely spot nestled in nature. I spent the week sitting at the dining room table working while watching deer and chipmunks and rabbits wander in and around the creek and property. Sean (Host) was super responsive. Self check-in was effortless. A/C worked perfectly. Ceiling fans in every room as well. Brought my dog with me; she had a great time too. There are several large trees in the yard that are perfectly positioned if you have a harness and long lead to allow you to hang out with your pup. If I had to go back to Blacksburg for a week I would certainly return to this property.
