About this property

That 70s Bungalow - Pet Friendly! - studio with AC in charming Wilmington

Welcome to our 70s-inspired guest house!

This is a stand alone unit several yards away from the main house. Carefully curated to make you feel like you’re stepping into the 1970s but with all modern amenities! The studio-style guesthouse includes a queen bed, full bathroom, basic kitchen, closet, and outdoor area.

Nestled on the edge of a walkable neighborhood, the guesthouse is only a five-minute drive to historic downtown Wilmington, a quick walk to Burnt Mill Creek, and fifteen minutes to Wrightsville Beach. We're also just down the street from the movie studio and the airport!

We've styled the studio with the best of the 70s decade--warm tones, bold patterns, and a laid-back style to help you unwind!

*Some space highlights*
- Fully equipped kitchenette with vintage-inspired cookware and utensils
- Comfortable queen bed with groovy afghan blankets
- Private entrance so you can come and go at your own pace
- Cozy lounge-area with a stereo record player next to a tree-lined window
- Outdoor seating area with views of giant oak trees

*Guest access*
Guests have full, private access to the unit and nearby outdoor area. We live on the property a few yards away. We are available if you are in need of anything, but we also respect your privacy.

You may see us occasionally in the yard working or getting some yard equipment from the shed behind the guesthouse, but (when possible) we try to mindful of when you appear to be home as to not bother you with this.

We ask that you do not knock on our home's door. We have three dogs that will bark when we have unfamiliar folks at the door.

*Important things to note*
This property is located directly next to a train and railroad crossing. Some people, like us, find this a charming treat, but we understand that others will be bothered by the noise. The train does not stop at the property, but traffic is occasionally stopped, with a loud horn. This happens 2-3 times during the day and sometimes over night (once about 10 pm and sometimes again around 1-3 am on weekdays). If you are a light sleeper and the horn noise will likely bother you, we do not recommend you stay here! So far, folks who have stayed here report minimal disturbance. While the train is romantically close, it doesn't make the area shake or anything like that.

We also live close to the airport, and that comes with perks, but it also means that planes fly by over the property. Very occasionally, loud military aircraft will fly over as well.

About the host

Hosted by Lori Wilson

Host profile image
I purchased my cute 1950s home and immediately rented out a room in my house. When I met my husband and he moved in, our family began working on converting our detached garage into a rental unit. It's been a long labor of love, and I'm so excited to finally share it with others. When I'm not working as a child therapist, I am buying and selling vintage home decor and furniture, so pieces in the guest house were all curated by me! Let me know if you want recommendations for vintage shopping :)

We have a pretty big lot for this area of town. There are three mature, stunning oak trees on the property.
