Sonniges Rustico in den Bergen am Comer See

The renovated and cosy rustico is located at an elevation of 1,000 metres, 800 metres above the lake, right on the “Via dei Monti Lariani” high-altitude hiking trail. It’s situated at the northern end of the lake, above Gera Lario, on a sunny south-facing slope with a magnificent view stretching all the way to Bellagio.

This rustic stone house is a blend of a mountain cabin and a lakeside holiday home. It’s located in Montemezzo, in the Montalto district, and is surrounded by other rusticos. Despite its rustic architecture and location, you won’t have to sacrifice any comforts. You’re in the mountains and can enjoy the mountain air, the tranquility, and the panoramic views. At the same time, thanks to its hillside location, Lake Como seems so close that you feel you could take a running start and jump right in. Important: The house is located in the village and is accessible only on foot. It’s about 150 metres from the car park to the house, and the path is slightly uphill in places. But the walk is worth it. You can reach Montalto via a narrow, winding road from Gera Lario in just under 20 minutes.

The house itself is small, with two small separate bedrooms, a living/dining area, a kitchen, and a small bathroom. You can sit at the dining table and look out at the lake. The highlight is the terrace, which, like a small observation deck, invites you to linger… preferably with a glass of wine. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi, a TV, a dishwasher, a washing machine, lounge chairs, a parasol, and a grill. It sleeps 6 (one double bed 140x190 and 4 bunk beds 90x190) and is suitable for couples or families with children. Ideal for up to 4 people. Depending on their age, children can play around the house.

The house is an excellent starting point for hikes and mountain bike tours in the surrounding mountains. The paragliding launch site is located on the mountain above the house. And when you’ve had enough of that, you can be down at the lake in 20 minutes for swimming, surfing, or other water sports. You can explore the famous towns on Lake Como by boat (e.g., Bellagio, Menaggio, Varenna, Como, …), sample the excellent restaurants in the surrounding towns, or take a trip to Milan or Bergamo.

The house is ideal for mountain lovers seeking peace and relaxation.
Note: The Italian neighbors are occasionally busy renovating their homes. This can sometimes disturb the peace and quiet during the day.
