Vacation home with garden

This former farmworker’s house is located in the historic centre of the mound village of Groothusen. <br>This building can already be seen on the village map from 1870. Several generations of the Janhsen farmworker family lived here as an extended family. Pigs and sheep were also raised here. The garden was used exclusively for growing vegetables. After the passing of Beena, the last resident, it was important to us to acquire this property and continue to use it with respect, in keeping with the Janhsen family’s wishes.<br><br>As part of a local development programme, we renovated and expanded the building in 2020 in accordance with the guidelines for rural community development.<br><br>The idyllic, very quiet location, the rooms lovingly furnished with plenty of wood and natural materials, and the traditional farm garden promise a holiday surrounded by greenery.<br><br>All rooms are on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible. Parking is available directly in front of the house. The garden is fenced in, so pets can roam freely.<br><br>The house, which is approximately 90 square metres in size, consists of the following rooms:<br>Living room with a sofa (can be used as a sleeper sofa)<br>Bedroom with a double bed<br>Guest room with a recamier<br>Kitchen-diner<br>Bathroom <br>Pantry<br>Storage room for bicycles and dustbins<br><br>Internet is available<br><br><br>There is a popular restaurant in the village, located in the Groothuser Osterburg. In the town of Pewsum, located about 2 km from Groothusen, you can do all your necessary shopping (Lidl, Aldi, Combi, Edeka, Rossmann, and others)<br><br>If you enjoy biking or going for walks, you can choose new routes every day. Relaxing on the North Sea coast—just a 10-minute bike ride away—is particularly enjoyable.<br><br>A stay in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a unique experience.<br><br>Ferries depart several times a day from Greetsiel, Norddeich, or Emden to the East Frisian Islands. The well-known fishing village of Greetsiel is a 10-minute drive away. Buses run regularly from Groothusen to neighbouring towns.<br><br>Bicycles can be rented in the neighbouring towns.<br><br>Well-behaved pets are welcome.
