The open kitchen serves as a central gathering place and blends seamlessly with a cozy seating area and the large dining table made of sturdy wood. Here, you can cook, eat, and enjoy each other’s company together. Accommodations include two bedrooms with comfortable double beds, a fold-out sofa bed, and two sleeper chairs that can be used flexibly. The modern bathroom also features a walk-in shower.
The spacious 1,088-square-meter lot offers plenty of room to relax. Particularly impressive is the chestnut tree that gives the property its name, which provides welcome shade in the summer. Guests have access to a lockable garage where, among other things, e-bikes can be charged—perfect for excursions in the surrounding area.
The “Landhaus zur alten Kastanie” is a place where tranquility, comfort, and closeness to nature come together. Here, you can discover the idyllic region around the Schlei and enjoy relaxing days in a temporary home. The house’s own large garden also invites you to linger and admire the plants growing there.
And one more note: The “Landhaus zur alten Kastanie” and the “Kastanien-Cottage” can also be booked together, offering plenty of space for gatherings with family or friends of up to 10 people. The Schlei adorns the villages along this inlet of the Baltic Sea and is just 1.2 km from the “Landhaus zur alten Eiche” and the “Kastanien-Cottage.” Four kilometers from Bohnert, you’ll find a bakery, a supermarket, and a restaurant. This quiet and relaxed little village is also a great starting point for fabulous bike rides and wonderful hikes through the Schlei villages in the surrounding area.
The Schlei, which is also very popular with water sports enthusiasts, offers several swimming spots at various distances; the closest is just 1.2 km from Bohnert.
Throughout the Schlei region, there are additional places to visit, such as the charming Schlei towns of Kappeln and Arnis, Germany’s smallest town.
The nearest major cities, such as Kappeln or Schleswig, are easily accessible by car or the Smile24 shuttle.

Dogs are welcome and incur a surcharge of €10 per night. A maximum of 2 dogs is allowed. Cats are not permitted.
