A cozy little cabin situated on a peaceful and secluded drive. It’s surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers and Mountain View’s. Our family of four was a perfect fit for this sweet little cabin. The host is friendly and prompt with responses. The cabin tidy, clean and well supplied. We will be back!

Beautiful!

We enjoyed everything about the cabin and the property! The cabin was very cozy and clean! We wished there would have been a washer and dryer but we did fine without! The weather was perfect while we were there! We would stay there again! The owner was very kind and would have done anything for us! Dave and Twila Riehl

Love those mountains!

'Intensive Care' was the perfect base of operations for our hiking trip. It's out of town, but still accessible. Seemingly remote, but easy to get to. It's position on the hill allowed us to completely ignore that there was another cabin a bit above us. The Adirondack chairs proved be a perfect place to wind up the day watching the clouds and sunset. While there appears to be room for 6 or more, the cabin suited the two us just fine. It had everything we needed to have our meals at home. We struggled initially to find the cabin, missing a couple key turns, but started over from the beginning and found it. Be aware that the initial turn off of Hwy 66/Tunnel Road into the YMCA is marked on street signs as Association Way, and that the next left turn onto Longhouse is marked on a YMCA sign, not a street sign. The turn onto Mesa is a street sign again. But in the end, finding the cabin was part of the fun.

NIce Cabin on the edge of YMCA property

This cabin has 2 bedrooms plus a loft with 2 twin beds, which provided great space for our family of 5. The cabin is located on the edge of the YMCA property, which means you drive through the YMCA to get to it. However, you are very isolated from the Y and don't feel like you are part of the Y property. You can see a couple of cabins, but they are a good distance from this cabin. The stream (my kids called it more of a trickle) isn't very accessible, but can be gotten to. The cabin itself is in great shape and is very clean. Has lots of kitchen accessories. The DVD player was great for a rainy night. The bathroom was small and a bit musty smelling, but not bad. The beds in all but one bedroom were not at all comfortable, which was disappointing. There is a picnic table and 2 Adirondack chairs outside. The area surrounding the cabin is mostly mountain weeds. Overall it was a good cabin with enough space, but we didn't enjoy the outdoors as much here as we have at other cabins near RMNP.

The views are spectacular and the accommodations comfortable.

Directions to the cabin should be more straightforward with only a few street names and know that you are going to the "Intensive Care" Cabin. Owner was very nice in responding to lost vacationer!

Exactly as advertized

We had a great time staying at the cabin. If you enjoy watching wildlife this is the place to stay. Within one hour of arrival I spotted a bull elk laying in the ravine. We woke up to Elk bugling almost every morning. The mule deer are all around the cabin and we had many days where they came in and bedded down within 20 feet of the front door. We had a herd of elk come up and bed down behind the cabin for one afternoon. You only had to go into the Y camp to see more elk. The cabin has everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Love that it is at the end of the road and we went the whole week without hearing a car. You can see other cabins but there was not anyone in them until the last night. No cell service but the Wi-fi worked fine. Lorraine

It was a wonderful cabin!

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the cabin! When we arrived our first evening, we saw a deer laying next to the dirt road and two elk were grazing at the back of the cabin. It was the most amazing sight! The cabin is nestled near a creek in a quiet and secluded place. The cabin faces majestic mountains on every side. The cabin is conveniently located near the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance. The owner, Steve, was very accommodating to make our stay as great as possible. He was friendly and pleasant to talk to. We would highly recommend this property for an enjoyable get-away!

Great cabin in the mountains

Loved your cabin—everything was perfectly comfortable (including the beds) for myself and 2 sons (21 and 23)! We saw elk and deer most days at the cabin which was fun. Great proximity to the nat’l Park, where we spent most of our time. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, rustic cabin in the woods, close to the park and restaurants this cabin can’t be beat. Thanks for sharing it with us—we hope to be back!!!

Love the wooded grounds!

The best part of this cabin is the location and grounds it is located on. It is in a wooded area with a creek accessible from a the small trail nearby. The views are amazing! We also saw 4 large elk (12-pointed antlers). There is lots to explore as there are some trails on the YMCA property. We walked to a reservoir and also checked out what was available through the YMCA. The cabin is basic, but clean. Beds were comfortable. Only complaint was that the shower is very small and my husband had problems moving around in it. Also, some kitchen utensils need to be replaced (sharper scissors) or added, like a colander and maybe 2 wine glasses. But otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Clean and Location was great!

Steve was friendly and was easy to deal with. We went for a wedding. Everyone stayed in town but we wanted to be out of the way a bit. Every night we had tons of Deer visit us. The little fireplace and view were awesome! The beds could be a bit more comfortable but overall everything was great. We loved the DVDs and had some quality time with our 15 year old, no computer games. Priceless! I recommend if you are looking for some down time .

Excellent little cabin for our family!

We are a family of four, 2 adults and a 14 yr old and an eleven yr old. Having separate sleeping areas for them was excellent! It was in a great location for our adventures into Rocky Mtn NP and exploring the town of Estes Park. The kitchen was well appointed and our kids enjoyed joining in on some of the activities at the YMCA camp at night.

Peaceful getaway

We loved the outdoor spaces! Every breakfast and dinner we ate outside and enjoyed the wildlife! So peaceful and quiet. It was just what we wanted for a quiet place to recover after full days of hiking in RMNP.

Exactly What We Needed!

I cannot thank Steve enough for making our stay at Estes Park incredible. We have 2 girls and this was our first spring time trip to the Rockies. The cabin was exactly what we needed. We loved hiking around the YMCA campus, enjoying the many free activities that they offer as well as spending much of our time in the National Park. We loved how secluded the cabin was and we were able to enjoy a picnic dinner with a young mother doe watching us not more than 10 feet away. How amazing! The cabin was clean and furnished with all of our needs. Our girls enjoyed the games in the closet and the loft to sleep in. If you are looking for a quiet get away and endless ways to enjoy the beauty of nature, this cabin is the place for you! We cannot wait to return next summer.

Perfect location near Rocky mountain park

Our family of 6 loved our stay at intensive care cabin. The cabin had everything you might need and more, the views of the mountains and peace and quiet are priceless. Place was clean with well stocked kitchen and enough space to accommodate our group without feeling crowded. Thank you Steve for sharing your home with us, we truly enjoyed our stay and definitely would stay there again!

Cozy & Scenic

We loved how clean the cabin was. The views are breathtaking, we had visitors, a family of deer visit us every evening and our last morning. Plenty of room for a family of 4, it was my wife and I, but there is an extra bedroom but we used that as our dressing area. The only thing I would downgrade is the WIFI is very spotty, we luckily took our computer so we we're able to text from that but that was about it, but honestly Estes Park in itself has very spotty coverage if you have Verizon. We would definitely stay here again if it's just the two of us. One last note though if your sleeping in the 1st bedroom watch out for the oversized dresser, my wife ran into it a few times in the middle of the night because there is not much room between the oversized dresser and the bed.

Wonderful place to call home

We loved our stay at Intensive Care and hope to visit again. The cabin was clean, well stocked with DVD's for the kids and board games. Plenty of kitchen items and bathroom towels. Very comfortable home to relax and enjoy the mountain views. Very quiet surroundings, we saw a few deer in the backyard each day and a moose crossed our path on the trail in the backyard! It was very exciting! Steve was responsive through email and provided us with info on the area and his grocery discount number which we really appreciated!! We used the laundry at Longhouse which was clean and friendly and played putt putt for free at the Y. I think tennis & pickle ball is free at the outdoor courts as well. We were very comfortable here, it was enjoyable after long days at RMNP thank you for your hospitality Steve!

Our Family vacationed every year in Estes Park, staying at the YMCA of the Rockies. Dad stumbled upon this property while exploring the area. Originally, the intention was to buy 7.5 acres, but survey revealed that cabin was set over the property line, thus purchased 11 more acres that the property currently rests on. The well water comes from a mountain spring that provides pure delicious drinking.

Why they chose this property

As a place for families to gather, this place has special meaning to many of those who have stayed here. Wildlife abounds as they move up and down the nearby Wind River. Here Aspen, Spruce, Ponderosa, lodgepole pines and fauna change with the seasons, never looking quite like the same space each time you visit. Hike up the river to hidden mountain meadows, serene lakes and breathtaking views starting from the doorstep.

What makes this property unique

Many travelers take advantage of the YMCA of the Rockies many activities including swimming (indoor pool), horseshoes, craft center, tennis, miniature golf, zip lining, library, disc golf, talks around a fire, to name a few. visit http://ymcarockies.org for full details.

You will feel as though you are in a secluded cabin, million miles from anywhere and yet have downtown Estes Park a mere 5 mile drive. This is set in and among natures finest with fresh clean air and water as natural as intended.
