This is a beautiful 5 bedroom Berkshire, post and beam private house nestled in the woods just off the Appalachian trail. Set on one of the Berkshires most coveted roads, 12 mins to Butternut Family Skiing & fresh water swimming in Lake Garfield, boating, fishing, classical outdoor concerts at Tanglewood.

The Space
The large comfortable house has 5 good size bedrooms with a private room downstairs with its own sleeping quarters, WC and living area with separate bedroom off it. Excellent kitchen and dinning areas with deck dinning, screened porch dinning and large garden table to fit 8+. It's very family friendly (well behaved dogs & cats welcome) with swings for the kids. The house was built in 2006 and has excellent insulation - It's cool in summer and warm in winter. There is WIFI through out house and in the garden, even on the hammocks!

The famous Tanglewood and Jacobs Pillow are within 25 minutes and the area is rich in entertainment for all ages and very family friendly. 15 minute drive to skiing and the Appalachian trail is only a 10 min drive too if you fancy a long walk.

Even though you feel completely private, this house is only 5 minutes to the local village with the famous Monterey general store selling local food produce and the town beach for swimming, boating and fishing lake. In the winter we're only 15 minutes from the wonderful family friendly ski mountain of Butternut.

Historic Great Barrington is only 20 minutes drive with many excellent local restaurants and shops, farmers markets + local food stores. A Guidos and Big Y's are within 20 mins drive for all your grocery needs.

The house has 5 bedrooms and beds for 10 people, 3 x queens & 4 x twins, but there are 2 twin air beds + 1 queen bed for extra people to stay. Accommodating up to 12 people comfortably.

A cathedral living room with windows up to the 30 foot ceiling, an English farm house dinning table seating up to 8, a French velvet sofa, a large wood burning stove as well as a spacious kitchen with Whirlpool large fridge and Bosch dishwasher. Richard’s house is beautiful and fully equipped for a group of eight. It was spotless when we arrived. We had come for a small retreat and the house and surrounding area are so beautiful that we didn’t want to leave even to go see Stockbridge! Still, grocery stores, restaurants, and shops are a short drive away. Serious hiking and easy walks were available for every level of desired physical activity. Richard was easy to reach and extremely responsive when we needed to get in touch with him, and he graciously took care of our small problem in less than an hour from when we contacted him. We enjoyed the house so much that we ate hoping to return for another retreat next year.

Enjoyed my two weeks!

The kitchen is fully equipped and great for preparing family meals. I loved the comfort of the screened porch, and using the grill and eating outside on the front table was also great! Loved being in the woods but found myself driving too much to get to various Berkshire attractions.

Great Father's Day weekend.

This is our second annual Father's day weekend. We're from Boston, but love the Berkshires. The house was exactly as billed. Lots of hidden amenities. Hopefully we'll come back here again if available. Monteray it's lush and the drive to Lee is beautiful. There are a couple of minor negative. We love dogs, but the neighbors have a dog that was an annoyance and kept coming by. We let him hang, and was just in the way looking at our food. No biggie but a problem for the owner. Also, the recycling bin is protected by a really heavy wooden cover on hinges. If you don't look to ensure it's all the way up, it can drop and hit your hand or your head. It hit my head and it was a but shocking. Neither of these should stop you from renting this place. It was great. We look forward to coming back.
