Well-Located Chalet with Private Parking and Gorgeous Alpine Surroundings
This chalet in Grindelwald was a highlight of our trip. The home is beautifully appointed, quiet, and extremely comfortable. Private parking on site was a huge plus. While it’s not a quick walk into town, there’s a scenic trail that takes about 10–12 minutes down—but be prepared for a steep uphill walk back. Still, the peaceful setting and views made it worthwhile. What I hadn’t realized was that the chalet is part of a shared building. Thankfully, it was quiet during our stay except for our last night. If there had been others above us the whole time, it might’ve felt less private, so just something to note.We visited during a heat wave, and the host kindly brought over fans once stores reopened after the weekend. Between those and the excellent system of window blinds, we were able to keep the chalet cool, especially in the evenings. There’s a shared laundry room in the basement with a washer and dryer—perfect after days of hiking and biking. The Grindelwald Coop grocery store is a short drive away with a paid parking garage and a great selection for easy breakfasts and picnic lunches. We loved the easy access to the First gondola and recommend checking return times to avoid missing the last ride down. The First Cliff Walk and mountain views were absolutely stunning.A note for future guests: there’s no traditional TV, just one smart screen with limited streaming options—this surprised our teens, but honestly, we didn’t miss it. We would absolutely return/recommend.
