We enjoyed our stay and would return again. The house was very clean, well prepared and stocked for our family. The kids enjoyed the bicycles and board games.
There are many attractions within an easy drive.

Glad you had a good time. Thanks for renting with us.
The purpose of our stay was the internment of my only brother's ashes at Woodlawn National Cemetery. He and my sister-in-law , who live/d in Oregon had stayed here twice and truly enjoyed their stay. This stay, my sister -in-law stayed across the street at "Castle" with her stepson and family
Enchanted Cottage was very conveniently located to where we had a family event in Elmira NY. I wish we'd spent more time outside. Back yard, with patio and cast iron table and chairs, and a babbling fountain, was very inviting. Inside, the living room and dining room need better light for reading.

quiet neighborhood, neat house
We loved the accommodations, but would make the following recommendations: Since the was no cable tv, we would have appreciated high speed internet availability throughout the house. Because we were visiting family, we would have appreciated a more open and comfortable living room area. The owner was very responsive to our needs the house was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The house was well stocked with basic needs and in a safe neighborhood.

Thanks Irene for your suggestion-- there is now hi-speed wifi in the house. Please keep us in mind for your future travels to the area.
If you find yourself in need of lodging in Elmira-Corning area and would normally buy two hotel rooms, this is a great alternative. About the same price with the extra fees, but all four of us had our own space, three bedrooms upstairs and a day bed in the down stairs study. Everyone reported being comfortable. Quiet neighborhood, no traffic, neighbors are close, but we didn't see a human all labor day weekend.
Recommendations
Dinner Tanino's in Horseheads - The best pork chop on the planet, just do it.
Corning Glass Museum - very much world class and well worth the time.. art, science, industry, antiquities.. and glass gifts you can't find elsewhere.
Harris Hill Soaring - Glider rides are $140 and will be talked about for a life time, nothing like it anywhere.
The downstairs half bath is a little tight. My kids called it an airplane bathroom. Kitty if you were to decorate it in aeronautical fashion it would be a conversation piece.
All in all a nice place and we had no surprises or challenges with this house.
This VRBO cottage was very nice. It was comfortable for our quick weekend stay. My only concern was spiders. I saw several in the living room and in the bathroom. Our friends who we were visiting recommended this place and overall we were pleased with the place and the location. 15 minute drive to Corning, NY. Nice surprise! We made a quick trip to Corning before our celebration at our friends house two blocks from this cottage.
Comfortable place for people willing to share a bathroom. We spent time with family living in Elmira so we didn't spend much time at the cottage during the day. The outside patio is cute, but the weather did not allow us to use it this trip.
My family and I were looking for a place to stay that would be big enough for all of us and special enough for a birthday and Easter “getaway”... and, Kitty’s cottage was the perfect place. The house itself has an amazing feeling to it and is wonderfully maintained. However, the most important thing about the cottage is the thought that the hosts put into the place and the personal touches for the guests. There were little things set in place for a truly outstanding experience for my entire family; my mother had a memorable birthday and my nephew had his best Easter morning (he also loved the treasure hunt that is a part of staying at the cottage). This was our first experience with VRBO, and Kitty may have set the bar too high for all our future attempts at using it. What an incredible experience!

Thanks Anthony; it was a pleasure to host you and your family. Best to all of you.
The property was clean and beautiful as expected with an easy check-in process properly communicated by the property manager. And the best part is of course the Treasure Hunt which we nailed in 20. Good stuff!
The house is clean, well-stocked, quiet, and comfortable. Some of our favorite things were the outdoor table and chairs in the backyard next to the little man-made pond, the cozy sunroom with its wall-to-wall windows, and the Pop-Tarts. The house is walking distance to the river and a park. Kitty, the owner, was responsive and helpful. We really enjoyed our three-week stay. Would definitely stay again!

A pleasure to host you. So glad you enjoyed your stay.
House is clean, nicely decorated and located in a nice area of Elmira. Our 13 year old son enjoyed the scavenger hunt. There is no access to a washer and dryer which would have been nice. My only complaint is that owner charges an additional fee per person per day over 2 guests that was not published in the advertised price. This added significantly to the price of the rental.
Would highly recommend to others. Our family had a wonderful experience celebrating daughter/granddaughter college graduation. On entering the cottage we were welcomed by a delicious homemade blueberry coffee cake and a bottle of wine. We also had an amusing scavenger hunt which was so much fun. The cleanliness of the cottage was outstanding. We will always remember happy memories here. Kitty, the owner, did an exceptional job welcoming guests.
The warm welcome we received from Kitty was icing on the cake!
A great, safe, quiet location, beautiful home and furnishings, comfortable beds!!
We couldn’t have wished for more!

Great place to stay with added perks
We had a great stay at the Enchanted Cottage. We were welcomed with a homemade blueberry coffee cake and bottle of win. The treasure hunt was lots of fun and we enjoyed learning about some Elmira history. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable. It was also great to have a well stocked kitchen. A great option for the area.

The Beautiful Enchanted Cottage
The home was perfectly clean, beautiful & there were plenty of towels, supplies, kitchen items, etc. Kitty included home baked blueberry coffee cake, which was delicious! She also has a scavenger hunt set up, which was amusing and put us in a vacation mood. Elmira is a great location for visiting the areas sights and the local restaurant, the Hill Top Inn, had both a terrific view and excellent service. We hope to return some day!

Elmira, NY house
We are from Texas so we don’t really understand the no air conditioning concept. There were two window units and a fan downstairs and two window units and a fan upstairs. The kitchen and bathroom can get very warm, but if you leave all the A/C’s on and the bedroom doors open it helps cool down the other rooms. There is one TV downstairs in the living area. Bathroom was fully stocked and beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked. The treasure hunt was fun. Very quiet street and very nice neighborhood. Plenty of room to park cars in the driveway.

Charming, Lovely
I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Cottage on Glen. Kitty, the owner, was excellent from the start. Communication was top notch, and everything that I could have needed was available in the cottage: from extra toilet paper to zip lock bags, coffee, creamer, deodorant, tampons...she really has thought of everything.
The house is charming. Two small but reasonable size bedrooms with queen beds, and a third bedroom with a twin. Plenty of space for a family. The kitchen is useable, with plenty of pots and pans, and the dining room is lovely. Great gathering space in the living room with comfortable seating. The outside is also lovely, though it was very cold while I was there!
Would highly recommend Kitty's place on Glen. It is a quiet, residential, street, and easy to get around from, too.

Clean, comfortable, and charming
We had a wonderful stay in Elmira and especially loved the peaceful setting and cozy accommodations. Kitty thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The toiletries in the bathroom; the fresh baked coffee cake; and the treasure hunt all added a special charm.

About the host
Hosted by Kitty Hall-Thurnheer
I love to be pampered so it gives me great joy to create beautiful, comfortable spaces with little surprises of wonderment. Prior to owning a guest house, I was a software guru, a jet pilot, and a journalist. Now I focus on keeping a balance between work and play. If there is anything you need or want, please let me know so I can make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Why they chose this property
Enjoy the quietness of west Elmira and yet remain within walking distance of the Chemung River, the country club, or a quick drive to restaurants and shopping.
What makes this property unique
Once you relax in the sunroom, you will never want to leave. Enjoy the front patio for early morning coffee and follow the sun to the back for an evening glass of wine by the koi pond and herb garden.
