The Accommodation
The Waldhaus an der Brausmühle sounds romantic, but it’s not quite what you might expect. There hasn’t been a bustling mill here for a hundred years. That was a long time ago. Only the name remains.
Nevertheless—or perhaps precisely because of this—the Waldhaus guesthouse is a wonderful opportunity to spend a few relaxing days in the heart of the woods and countryside.
Located right on the edge of the forest, it captivates those seeking relaxation with its peace and tranquility. The house dates back to the 1960s and was originally designed as a hotel.
Hikers can set out directly from here and head in any direction for hikes of varying lengths.
The house and grounds are beautifully situated and bathed in sunshine, which makes for an easy start to the day and greatly contributes to your sense of well-being.
A large terrace invites you to linger. There is plenty of space for young and old alike.
Inside the house, in addition to the many rooms, you’ll find a large, well-equipped kitchen and a spacious lounge with plenty of room, even for large groups. The rooms can be configured as double or multi-bed rooms as needed, ensuring that appropriate sleeping arrangements are available for groups of any size. Each floor offers several restrooms with toilets and shower facilities. And where this isn’t yet the case, it will be soon. We took over this beautiful house in the winter of 2024 and are gradually making improvements where needed.
The main guesthouse area includes ten bedrooms, three bathrooms (and a fourth is currently under renovation), the large group room, and a spacious kitchen.

For very large groups, we open a separate vacation apartment. It has two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen.

The outdoor grounds are not included in the rental but may be used by guests. The property is managed in harmony with nature. For us, the balance between people and nature is important.
The Waldhaus is located on the bike path between Vierbach and Reichensachsen and is connected to the international network of bike trails.
A train station is 3 km away. Train travelers should arrange the famous “last mile” in advance; as there is an affordable shared taxi service, but—as the name suggests—it must be booked in advance.
Another new feature is a highway connection in a side valley. Without disturbing us, the A44 East-West Bypass is located 4 km away and offers a convenient way for drivers to reach us. A charging station for electric vehicles is in the planning stages. Parking spaces are available right next to the house.

The Waldhaus also houses a workshop run by Silke. Here, upon request, you can try wet felting, print with the Gelli Plate, and paint—freely, with guidance, or as part of a short course. Anyone who’d like to try their hand at these activities can make arrangements here for a fee.
Last but not least, it’s worth mentioning that in the neighboring village of Vierbach, Harry has been running a restaurant in a former cowshed for years and looks forward to welcoming you with delicious, home-cooked meals.

Guest Access
Depending on the group size, we may keep the apartment on the lower floor locked. However, there are a total of eight additional bedrooms, a kitchen, and a spacious group room on the middle and upper floors.

This house is located in a nearly secluded setting. Outside the village, there are only three other houses here.
