Marty's little yurt is a great place to stay for the traveler looking for simple accommodations at an affordable price. A very clean and comfortable yurt and Marty is right next door if there are any problems.
A few suggestions (as a travel writer, I stay in a lot of places) to make the stay even more pleasant:
- Add a light over the sink so those contact-lens-wearers have some light!
- Consider maybe adding a little refrigerator to the yurt for parents wanting to keep juice, milk, snacks cold for kids (and the beer chilled for adults) :)
- Add a bedside table for glasses, books, devices, etc. I hauled over the chair and it was fine, but it's just a little extra "touch."
- Stick a few packets of instant brew in with the tea. I gotta have my coffee!
A yurt is a unique option and can be a ton of fun for those looking to bridge the gap between tenting and cabin stays. It is helpful to know that a basic, RV-style "head" is what you've got for the toilet, and it may be intimidating for kids or those with mobility issues. If you're cool with that, it's not that big of a deal.
I enjoyed my quick trip to Homer, and Marty's hospitality!
