We loved staying On the river. The house was so unique and 100 years old! Close
To Town and was super convenient and quiet! Would definitely stay again!
10/10!
We stay in the Estes area couple times a year and this was by far the best cabin I’ve rented.
Communication with the owners prior to arrive was fantastic.
Owners thoughtfully stocked the cabin with everything you might need—down to sunscreen. No need to bring extra blankets or pillows—they have you covered.
Spacious seating indoors and out. We spent most of our time by the river, including eating meals at the picnic table.
I will never stay anywhere else.

Very nice and clean!
We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was nice and clean. Loved the upstairs bedroom for our little ones, it was super cute and comfortable and they slept great. The kitchen was nice and stocked with everything we needed, and loved the old school fridge! The front room that faced the river was nice to sit in, and the couch in there was super comfortable. There is plenty of parking space, and a nice area to hang out right outside the cabin. My only complaints would be that the sitting area near the river was not that great. There is a clearing for the chairs, but the view of the river in front is not great at all. They could clear out some brush so you have a better view of it. Plus, I'm not sure why they don't let you have a fire when all their neighbors have fire pits. Besides those things, we had a great time.

We are happy that you enjoyed our cabin!
Your suggestions regarding possibly trimming bushes near the river is much appreciated. We debated about this and will act on your suggestion.
Fires below the large mature Ponderosa pines in our picnic area is much to risky! (Neighbors have fire rings only in much more clear areas without the shade of our towering Ponderosa.)
Thanks so much for your suggestions!

The property was very nice. Very accessible to town. The cabin had plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The cabin could use better lighting. There is no light by the door when you come in and trying to find your shoes when it gets dark is hard. Putting a puzzle together is a challenge as well considering the lighting. The only other issue was the request to restrict water usage. I understand the request but its hard to do for 5 days with a family of four. And no Christmas decorations at all was a bummer. Its hard to drive 18 hrs and pack Christmas decorations along with presents. And all the local stores were stripped bare of just about all decorations. Otherwise it was a great location and stay.
I would definitely stay here again. It was so beautiful and almost every morning we woke up to 3 big elk grazing out front. Very close to Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park. Can’t recommend this place enough!
The property looks just like the pictures in the listing. It’s a lovely mountain cabin with a lot of history. It has been very well cared for and is in great shape. The location was perfect - close to Estes Park and in the Big Thompson valley. The neighborhood was quiet, we never saw any neighbors. We could hear autos on the Highway, but they weren’t any louder than the river sounds. The cabin was very well stocked with linens, cooking needs and condiments and even toiletry items. We loved our time there!
We loved our stay at this cabin. It is close to town while also giving us the "get away" feel that we wanted. We loved listening to the river rushing by and exploring the rocks nearby. The cabin was also perfect for our family, had a well stocked kitchen and our kids loved their upstairs nook. We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay until we saw a camera inside the cabin. That made us feel really uneasy.
Overall the cabin is beautiful the river is amazing, I was able to catch some fish! It was excellent.
The queen size bed is a little uncomfortable, but manageable.
The neighbors were extremely friendly, helped me identify the trout I caught. 😉
But... still, there was a camera inside the property! Creepy and uncomfortable.

Hi Candice:
Yes the camera you saw in the living room is ONLY pointed directly at the thermostat and sees nothing else.
It is an Arlo and there to assure that the cabin is always properly heated!
Sorry for your uneasiness. But we thought it was obvious that it is only a foot from the thermostat and pointed directly at ONLY AT THE THERMOSTAT AND sees nothing else!
Thanks for letting us know and we will explain this to our future guests to assure them that we totally respect their privacy!!
Thanks again for staying at our beautiful cabin and sharing your concerns.
Warm Regards,
Richard and Robin Kluding
Highly recommend! Location was great, lots of info on the area was provided. The house was super cute and loved the fact that you can open the windows and hear the river. The sunporch was my favorite spot to relax.
Very clean and comfortable property only 5 minutes outside of Estes Park. The house was bigger than expected and nicely decorated. The queen size bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in at a rental. Extremely clean place on a beautiful property. I would definitely recommend.
We had a great stay here. The cabin is a short drive from Estes Park and RMNP. Everything was very clean and looked just like the pictures listed. We were very happy with our choice to stay here.
This property was just what we were looking for, and needed, for our long overdue family getaway. It was comfy, cute, and had everything we needed. Our kiddos enjoyed having their own room with twin beds up the fun and creaky (but steep) stairs. With the mosquito population in full on assault mode we couldn’t spend too much time outside or by the river but we did have a couple chances to explore the area and the kids walked in the river one day exploring the cool rocks. The neighbors are very friendly and the area is quiet and relaxing. It’s close enough to town for all your needs and visits to RMNP but yet far enough to feel away from it all. We made wonderful memories and had a blast. Our family would choose this place over and over again!
We had a wonderful stay in this cabin! It was a great home base for our time in the area. The focus of our stay was RMNP, and this was a great location! My husband and I especially enjoyed listening to the river as we had our coffee early each morning. Our boys (ages 10 & 12) loved exploring the property and the fun attic bedroom! One warning...bring bug spray if you spend time down by the river. The mosquitoes were plentiful. We made wonderful memories here, and would not hesitate to stay here again some day!
Everything was perfect! Hopefully we did a good job with conserving water for you. We absolutely love your cabin and the experience of that part of the country. Thank you for a wonderful time and beautiful location!

So happy that you enjoyed our beautiful cabin! Do come back again...
The cabin is old-fashioned in a good way. While it has all the modern conveniences, it is decorated with charming antiques. The location is superb: easy access to Estes Park without being in the middle of the often-congested town.
We had a nice weekend getaway in Estes park. The cottage was restful and close to town. The main road is pretty close but the traffic noise was muted by the river and not all the time.
We loved our stay here. The house is very well kept and clean, and the neighborhood is charming. Being so close to the river was lovely. We couldn't get the oven to work except on broil but we were able to work around that for the weekend. We'd definitely go back!
Cozy riverside Cabin with a Mountain backdrop. All of the comforts one would ask for in a home away from home. The perfect Holiday getaway for our family. A Christmas to remember for sure. We’ve been Cabin sick since we left and can’t wait to return.
Our family enjoyed the sound of the river, the beautiful starry nights and this well appointed peaceful retreat. We did a day trip to RMNP, saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed the privacy and comfort of the cabin.
My wife and I stayed here for a few days to enjoy nature. The cabin is in a perfect location just a few minutes from Estes Park and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We loved the outdoor patio and grill. And the seating area next to the river was great for enjoying morning coffee and evening wine.
The owner communication was great from booking to check out - even providing resources for keeping an eye on the fires in Cameron peak.
This is great place for a family or couple looking for a home that offers the perfect place to connect and relax. I'll be looking to book this place again the next time we are in the area.

We have owned the River Retreat and updated and restored this classic property. We greatly enjoy hiking just outside the cabin and fly fishing for trout in the Big Thompson river and snow shoeing in the winter. Our primary home is in Boulder and we love the winters in Estes Park and in Hawaii!
Why they chose this property
The River Retreat was originally built in 1925 as a family fishing cabin. and is located on the Big Thompson river with lots of trout! We have updated and restored this property while keeping much of the old charm while now having many modern conveniences! This is a beautiful and true Colorado mountain cabin and it is a rare privilege to experience this private setting on a rental basis!
What makes this property unique
This is a classic and a very beautiful and comfortable cabin with all the charm of a historic Colorado mountain cabin yet with WIFI, TV and most of the modern conveniences you have come to expect. And we are very close to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park and on a quiet private lane on the river!
