Excellent prominent position on the headland with fabulous views and sunsets from the terrace. Well equipped and comfortable accomodation that suited our family holiday.
A good location for us, however the walk back up the hill from the beach is challenging to say the least.
The property generally in good condition but could do with a little love
Location! Location ! Location!
Perfectly situated vacation home. Kitchen well equipped. Close to beach and hiking trails. A perfect place for a short Cornwall break.
Fantastic and very special property with great layout and views. We were a group of 9 adults for our annual meetup. We found the place a great launching point for various Cornwall adventures, as well as a wonderful place to simply relax at the house. Very easy in and out. Good WiFi. A couple of good restaurants (Unicorn and Blue Bar) in walking distance and the access to the Coastal Path was phenomenal!
10 of us stayed for a milestone birthday. The location was brilliant, as was the communication with the host of the property.
Instructions for the parking and directions to the property were very helpful.
The property had more than we thought would be available (salt, pepper, kitchen utensils etc).
If we had to leave one bit of feedback which would have improved our stay further it would be regarding the check in and check out time. If we had only stayed for one night a 5pm check in and 9.30am check out would have put us off staying at the property.
Overall, really pleased with our stay!
Thank you!
Fabulous views, comfortable rooms, family eating area, good kitchen, roomy snug
Please add the correct name of the ‘beach house’ which is not the name in the house ‘address’ (maybe Cloud Hill?) and that it is at the end of the road. I’d also like a written set of instructions as to turning on heat, etc, plus check out instructions.
Please double check wifi password instructions given on line vs correct instructions.
Nice house, good size, but a bit dated and in need of some love. Well stocked and convenient kitchen. Lovely sitting area with views over the sea. Good sized bedrooms and comfy beds. Great to have so many bathrooms too. The heating was very efficient so never cold. But perhaps the thermostat was broken? Cleanliness was good but there were cobwebs on the ceiling and under sofa. Lots of woodlice around as well, especially upstairs. Deck furniture has seen better days. Check in process was easy, apart from the house name is different to the listing which was confusing. Overall, pretty good value for a lovely location.
On arrival the outside was in poor condition with dirty steps and on entry the house had a damp smell, the house was in poor condition, bathrooms have been updated which were good and water pressure good, sofa in lounge had tears in and was supported by some red bricks, the outside did have lovely views but that was allot was not secure and paving was not safe for my elderly mum or grandchildren also I had to keep my dog on a lead as it was not enclosed at allow had to keep doors shut just in case the kids got out, the furniture outside needs replacing badly ,in general needs a lot of work and I would not returning fact if it would not have been 9 hours drive and all my family with me I would have left !
The property is in a lovely location with breathtaking views of the Cornish Coastline. The walk down to the beach was not too difficult, once we had decided which of the three routes was best. We had a 17 seater mini bus with us and I managed to turn this around using the three parking bays, but would not be easy if we had three vehicles with us all at the same time. Communication with the owner was great and considering we had 10 people in the property, it has more than enough space not to feel claustrophobic. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very good (brighter lighting in the bathrooms), although some of the bedrooms do need some hanging spaces and drawers. The property, however, does need to some TLC. Parts of the kitchen need some repairs, but was equipped with everything that we needed for the stay. The outdoor decking area was brilliant for sitting out in the evening although some the chairs on the decking were replaced during our stay as two were broken when we arrived. The BBQ also needs replacing as this was damaged and beyond use. Although, the views make up for the bits that needed the TLC. The sunsets from the terrace overlooking the sea were memorable. The property is in a great location for some of the younger members who used Porthtowan for surfing, plus the adults who braved the waves. The cliff paths were very close to the property, so definitely recommend a walk to Chapel Porth either along the Cliff path or along the beach if the tide is out.
Spacious & exceptionally clean holiday home. Very well equiped. We had 4 adults, 1 teenager, 3 children, a baby & 3 cars. Plenty of bathrooms & space for everyone. Stunning views. The perfect beach a short walk down with rock pools, mermaid pool & sea caves to explore. Shops & restaurants by the beach, caters for all your needs. A wonderful 4 days with my family.
We had a lovely family get together, celebrating my sister’s Birthday. Great location! Property was perfect. With Beautiful views. Good size rooms. Well equipped facilities.Photos on site don’t do it justice! Property is much bigger. Check in/ out times could be a bit more family friendly. But understand due to size of the property. Wished we could have stayed longer.
Property and location are great. Host is friendly and responsive. Helped us resolve issue with the WiFi and heating we had on our first day. Can treck down from the cottage to the beach via hillside pathways. Cottage has a a handy outdoor tap and also a BBQ area in the rear. Views from the property are awesome. Overall, a great experience and would definitely recommend if you plan on visiting Cornwall with friends or family.

Fantastic location, plenty of parking, everything you need (home from home)
However the property is tired and needs some tlc. The garden is overgrown and the hedges are unkept which obstruct the sea views.
Overall I would definitely recommend the property.
We are a family with Cornish roots who love Porthtowan. We bought the Beach Cottage for the stunning views over the beach and coastline beyond. We furnished the house to a high standard with 1 to 2 families in mind, so you can have a relaxing holiday in Cornwall.
Why they chose this property
Porthtowan is a hidden gem. One of only 10 Blue Flag beaches in Cornwall with lifeguards during the season. There are two pubs and two cafes close to the beach. You may not want to leave Porthtowan, the good news is that the village is 8 minutes from the A30 so a great base to explore Cornwalls attractions.
The BBC including Porthtowan in an article about “10 beautiful places to visit in the UK” though still very much a “hidden gem”
