About this property

This beautiful oceanfront 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage offers spectacular views of the Mussel Ridge Channel and numerous islands. The property is expansive including 100 feet of beach frontage directly on Pleasant Beach. The cottage is within a private and quiet colony of beach cottages and is an ideal spot to enjoy kayaking, looking for sea glass, or waterfront serenity. Watch the many lobster boats, photograph the colorful buoys, bird watch or look for the occasional seal visitor. This property abuts Pleasant Beach which is located in a sheltered cove of Penobscot Bay with ever-changing tides and minimal surf, making it a favorite (yet cold} place to swim or launch your kayaks. The beach is beautiful consisting of both sand and climbing rocks. It is situated close to the mouth of the Weskeag River...a popular spot for kayakers and fisherman (at low tide, at its mouth). We are within a 30 minute drive of Rockland, Rockport, Camden and Port Clyde. Bar Harbor is a scenic 2-hour drive north. Nearby attractions include the Farnsworth Art Museum, Owls Head Transportation Museum, several lighthouses and a plethora of shops, restaurants and art galleries.

The cottage itself is all on one convenient level and consists of an expansive great room with vaulted ceiling and open views of the beach and Bay. It has a lovely updated galley kitchen, two bedrooms and a bath. One bedroom includes 2 twin beds, while the second bedroom comes with a queen bed. An updated bathroom with shower connects the two bedrooms. Wifi is provided. Please bring your own towels and linens. This cottage does not accept pets, and smoking is not permitted. During summer months the owners utilize the newly added/attached wing (with separate entrance), to remain responsive to renter's questions/needs.

Great Location

The cottage is immaculate and has all the amenities you will need for a perfect vacation. This includes cookware, kayaks and an outdoor lobster pot cooker. We spent two days just “chilling” at the cottage. Whether inside or outside, we had a grand 180 degree view. One of the best things to know about Pleasant Beach is that it is close to Port Clyde and Rockland without the hassle of getting onto a major highway. This is a big plus. There is so much to do and see in this area, a one week stay is just not enough. We spent a day at Port Clyde. The lighthouse has an exceptional collection of documents and pictures if you want to know the history and culture and of the area. We got our seafood from Port Clyde on the way home from a kayak tour. We visited Birch Point Beach State Park which has a large beach, rocks to climb and shaded picnic areas. In addition to going to the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, we explored art galleries along highways 131 and 73. In Rockland, we had an excellent dinner at Archer’s on the Pier and at Peter Ott’s on the Water in Camden. We also ate at McLoons’s Lobster Shack on Spruce Head island. Great place. We had a fantastic time in cool Maine. Marc was a great host. Mo and friends

The perfect cottage

The owners, Sue and Marc, are very friendly and accommodating and while they remained on site, we never lacked for privacy. They provide the perfect cottage: beautifully decorated and comfortable. It is well maintained, and equipped with all that you need for a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. The views at Pleasant Beach are breathtaking! The location allows for peace and quiet, yet when you are looking for something to do, restaurants, shopping, and nearby areas of interest is a short drive away. Sue and Marc offered great suggestions about the area’s activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay and look forward to returning next summer!

A perfect waterfront cottage!!

I highly recommend choosing this perfect waterfront cottage. We chose this place for a weeklong ladies getaway and it was perfect. It was very comfortable and served as a wonderful home away from home. Wake up in the morning and enjoy your coffee while watching the lobster boats go out. The location was terrific being half way between Bar Harbor & York Beach providing easy access to all the beautiful seaside towns in between.

Immaculate, well maintained beach front cottage

This beautiful 2-bedroom property was perfect for our vacation. We were looking for a one level place with an ocean view. The cottage was immaculate, nicely decorated and very well maintained. It is also directly across from the beach. The owners were always available and willing to lend a helping hand. The cottage is one of several seasonal homes in a friendly small community. It is private but still close to several small dining establishments, some waterfront, as well as other restaurants, museums and galleries in the nearby city of Rockland. We would highly recommend this property as an excellent choice for a vacation rental.

We have spent summers in Maine for more than 20 years, and purchased this cottage in 2002 with an eye towards retiring here during the summer months. We have been doing renovations to this alluring little cottage since we took ownership. Our renovations are nearly complete and most recently included the addition of a separate living suite in the attached wing which we now utilize ourselves. This wing affords us the benefit of using the cottage while ensuring privacy for ourselves and our guests.

Why they chose this property

This is an idyllic and tranquil setting directly on the Mussel Ridge Channel, part of the Penobscot Bay. It is part of a small hamlet that still maintains its genuine Maine character and heritage. Here you will get a taste of real Maine, without the pretense and traffic that are sometimes associated with so many well-traveled areas. Additionally, we are conveniently situated. Rockland, Rockport and Camden are but some of the wonderful local communities that offer varied entertainment including films, art galleries, restaurants and shopping. Most who come to visit here make it a point to return!
