High On Helton - Long frontage on Helton Creek - One of the best state stocked trout streams in western NC. You'll love the peaceful, private wooded setting along the creek with firepit by the water. With this uniquely located cabin, you'll have many ways to enjoy the outdoors!
This 3 story, log cabin is on 10 lovely wooded acres. It offers numerous opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of the area including the chance of seeing deer and wild turkeys. The cabin has a wrap-around deck encompassing the front which is covered and large side deck. Deck seating, patio set and gas grill. Lower patio offers hot tub to unwind with the sounds of the creek and stars at night!
High on Helton offers three levels of living space. The main floor is warm and inviting with an open kitchen/living/dining with cathedral, exposed beam ceilings. Kitchen features refrigerator with ice maker. Comfortable seating, perfect for curling up by the warm fireplace and watching the game or your favorite movie on the flatscreen-Satellite TV with stereo surround sound.
The main level bedroom has a queen bed and a 42" Smart TV for streaming an the full bath is accessed from the bedroom or hallway.
Upper level bedroom features a bunk bed with full on bottom and twin on top and crib.
The lower level offers large game room with slate pool table, seating and flat screen TV. 2nd full bath and 3rd bedroom with queen bedroom set.
The perfect getaway for family and friends, this cabin has everything you need for a relaxing mountain vacation; cool shade in the summer months, and spectacular colors in the fall!

Absolutely amazing spot! I actually like the fact that there was no cell phone service. Me and my husband was able to relax and have a nice little get away. The bed was comfortable. We love that we could just watch the deer play on the hill side from the kitchen window. The cabin was very clean and the hot tub and pole table was a huge plus! Think yall for letting us enjoy your amazing home.

Beautiful spot

Excellent location with lots of opportunity to take in birdwatching from porch or hot tub, fishing on the creek, grilling on the porch. We thoroughly enjoyed our drives to Grayson Highlands and Lansing and just exploring the beautiful area.

Beautiful Location

Had a great weekend with friends. Location is beautiful overlooking the water. Hot tub was just what we needed after a trip on the Virginia creeper. We chose to cook every meal there and enjoy the surroundings and amenities. Plan to come back with our kids on our next trip to the area.

Great stay on High on Helton

The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Although the driveway was described as steep, and it was, it was drivable and walkable. The property overlooks the creek below and was relaxing to listen to while we sat on the deck.

The beds were extremely comfortable, unlike most rental locations. The hot tub did a great job of helping unwind. I honestly expected more fish, but overall we had a great time. The only problem we encountered was buying beer, you should definitely do so before you get there

Perfect Mountain Escape

We were looking for a quiet getaway and could not have found a more perfect place! The cabin was exactly as shown. All amenities were wonderful! Comfy beds, plenty of room and beyond peaceful listening to the sounds of the creek. We had to call for a fan problem with the fridge. It was taken care of immediately....even on a holiday weekend. Definitely want to come back

A little disappointing

Love the location and surroundings. Kitchen, upstairs bedrooms and baths very nice. We had to move or kill more than 10 wasps. The downstairs had a little smell to it. The washer had mold on the inside.

Fantastic stay by the river

This property is very isolated and we deeply enjoyed listening to the river, the rain, and all the birds in the trees surrounding it. If you're into fishing, it looks like this would be a great spot! Otherwise, it's a fantastic house, with great decks and rec-room in a great location. Bugs aren't an issue, as I was worried they might be (being in the trees and so close to the river). The AC window unit also kept up well and the basement stays very cool on its own (although I would expect to stay a bit warmer during the height of summer, if that's an issue).

4 wheel drive was needed to go up wet driveway in July. Only AC was a window unit on the third floor. Creek access was farther than expected.

What a find!

We had a wonderful time at High on Helton. The cabin was so clean and had all of the amenities and fun extra perks like the pool table, board games and hot tub. Gas cooking- inside and out- was a plus. The deck overlooking the creek was hit with bright sun in the morning and a perfect spot to drink coffee despite the cooler morning temps. Shady in the evening and a fun spot for happy hour. The creek and whole general area was just beautiful. Outside of the cabin, we recommend the hiking trails on Mt Jefferson and a trail ride at Burnt Hill Stables- both a little over 30 minutes from the cabin. We will definitely be back.

Great Getaway

We take all our kids and all our nephews every year on a trip for their Christmas gift. This place was so much fun. The kids were never bored at all with the hot tub, game room, fire pit and river at the back door. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The only thing I have to complain about was someone threaten to call the law on us for noise and we were not even being loud and the neighbors are not close at all. You could compare how loud we were to guys watching a football game. Also there were fisherman walking all on the property to get to the river and once I found them sitting at the fire pit. That made us very cautious with letting the kids have complete free range. Other then those 2 things, we hope to visit again and would definitely recommend this quaint little house to others. 1 more thing I would recommend taking a truck if you have one. Most of the roads are gravel.
