Lovely stay
Upon our arrival we were met by Jeanette who welcomed us and discussed what we may be doing during our week. Jeanette gave us lots of information about the area and things we may want to do. She then showed us the accommodation and how things worked. After this Jeanette then left us with a very nice little treat of a tray of tea/coffee and local plum loaf..
We had a lovely week and the accommodation was very nice and clean. Thank you.

Lincolnshire wolds haven!
Jeanette and rob were delightful hosts with a wealth of information. They sold Lincolnshire to us! Roses retreat was spotless with the most comfortable bed in the world ! It was very well equipped with all you could need plus a very welcome pack. Our only pointer that disappointed was the lack of a window to look out to the world whilst we had time to enjoy it ! We had to be satisfied looking into one another's eyes for a change of scenery. A lovely holiday thankyou

Many thanks for your lovely review and such a pleasure to meet you both. When we renovated this old crew yard building we sadly couldn't add any more windows than were already there, due to planning regulations. To compensate for this, we created a private patio with comfortable table and chairs directly outside Rose's Rest for the enjoyment of those leisurely breakfasts, lunches and dinners or even simply a sit with the morning newspapers and coffee or pre dinner drinks. The views over the wildflower meadows and woodland are so lovely from this vantage point. Having had the pleasure of meeting you both and enjoyed your lovely sense of fun and humour, I can see that gazing into each others eyes was probably much nicer than the views available.
This really is a lovely, private and now, obviously such a wonderfully romantic holiday cottage, perfect for a relaxing break away spending time together. That said, it's also ideal for solo travellers.
So pleased you found the bed to be so comfortable. We replaced all of the beds throughout the whole accommodation in January of this year with hotel quality luxury pocket sprung mattresses. We're always looking at improvements we can make and very often reinvest the profits back into the holiday accommodation. That said, we'll never make successful candidates for Sir Alan Sugar's The Apprentice show, but we feel it's the right thing to do.
So pleased too that you enjoyed your time in Lincolnshire and hopefully you managed to get some antique shopping done in Horncastle and enjoyed the Aviation Heritage that the county has to offer.
Many thanks again for taking the time to review our cottage and our very best wishes to you both.

Traumhafte Ferienwohnung

My German is sadly so rudimentary that I'd better stick with English in my reply and hope you both don't mind. A true pleasure to meet you both and see you enjoying your time here in Lincolnshire. Hiring bicycles from our recommended cycle hire who delivers them to Greetham Retreat and exploring the undulating Lincolnshire Wolds.
Your enthusiasm for life and everything you did was so refreshing to see.
Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and our very best wishes to you both for the future. Thank you too for the lovely gift, very much appreciated and we hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again if you ever want to revisit this area in the future. Jeanette and Rob (owners)
About the host
Hosted by Jeanette Folwell (Owner)
We are Rob and Jeanette Folwell, a husband and wife team who moved to the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds in 2007. Rob a retired Inspector from Leicestershire Police wanted to create a self catering holiday business to enable us to work together, so we purchased and created Greetham Retreat. We truly enjoy our jobs and consider it a pleasure to meet the wonderful people who choose to stay with us here at Greetham Retreat. The area is so friendly and welcoming, something we noticed immediately and our guests often comment on. Jeanette has worked within customer service since leaving school and we try to make your whole experience of Greetham Retreat memorable for all the right reasons. We visit lots of attractions and pubs, coffee shops and restaurants so we can confidently recommend them based on our experiences, the best way we think. We also provide lots of visitor attraction leaflets and keep this as up to date as possible. A large Ordnance Survey map covers one wall of our information room and a large folder of walks and cycling routes are available to guests too. These are so important to help you find all the great places on offer here in friendly and uncrowded Lincolnshire.
Why they chose this property
We found this unloved and derelict crew yard and lovingly restored and converted it into a complex of five luxurious self catering holiday cottages all set in over 4 acres of natural grounds. Sitting a 100 meters above sea level and in the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB (designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Our vision was to create a rural haven for our guests to enjoy with natural features such as wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows. We also planted over 650 deciduous trees in 2008 to create a large woodland and glades. Plenty of seating is dotted around the grounds to enable you to rest and drink in the far reaching views over the Lincolnshire Wolds, including a large picnic table and benches made from some fallen trees and roof timbers from the barn. We are located centrally between the City of Lincoln and everything it has to offer and the beautiful coastline with it's famous resort of Skegness and it's much quieter sandy beaches, all of which are dog friendly. We live on site but a 100 meters away from the holiday cottages which was also important. Close enough to be available for helpful advice and suggestions for days out but far enough away to allow you the uninterrupted freedom and relaxation you may be looking for.
What makes this property unique
The views from Greetham Retreat are truly stunning as you can see for miles over the Lincolnshire Wolds with it's undulating hillsides and ever changing arable fields. A large network of public footpaths, bridlepaths and quiet country lanes make this area a fabulous place to enjoy walking, cycling and driving
