Year Round Lake Home, HDTV, WIFI, Summer use of Fishing Boat.
Baker Point has a sand bar that runs 100 yards out into the lake only waist deep making it perfect for children and fishing. This property is the perfect get away. We have been on the property for almost 60 years and love every minute of it. Once you get a chance to stay here you will love it too. This is our summer home, this is not a hotel/motel so if you are looking for just a room to stay you should book elsewhere. The dock and boats are only available during summer rental rates. Ask about use in Spring and Fall. Baker's Point feature this rental(Eagles Nest) which is a year round house. Baker's point also features a summer home(Heritage-sleeps 8) which can be booked separately. Eagles Nest is a year round home which is ideal to sleep 4, 6 with our fantastic never flat portable mattress. It has two bedrooms. The Master includes a king sized bed, lake view and access to the deck overlooking the water and a huge yard. The second bedroom includes a Queen sized bed. The couch is not to be used as a bed, we have a queen size Never Flat self inflating portable mattress in the closet that can be used in the living room. The living room includes a beautiful fireplace and also overlooks the water and opens to the deck. Kitchen has all new appliances, new pots, pans, cutlery and a new outdoor grill during summer use. The full bath is just like the rest of the house, very New! Eagle's Nest is available year round. During the summer Eagle's Nest comes with priority use of the fishing boat with the old 6hp motor. The motor is "not" guaranteed to be available during your stay. There is a boat mechanic on the lake but he is not always available.
Eagle's Nest shares the property at Baker's Point with Heritage Cottage, also available for rent but is a separate house and rental : vrbo/755499 Heritage Cottage which sleeps 8 is a slice of history. Heritage is a 200 year old landmark, the oldest cottage on the lake and has recently been refurbished. It was pulled across the the ice around 1820 and placed atop the hill on Baker Point overlooking the lake. Nestled among the pines the lumber jacks picked this beautiful site for good reason. The Captains Quarters includes a queen bed and a day bed for a child. The Common Quarters is one large room with 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds. Heritage is shut down every winter. Baker's Point has a private Beach with huge yard and fire pit. Includes HDTVs in both houses, Wifi, and use of the dock, fishing boat, 2 kayaks and a canoe. Extremely peaceful yet only 3 miles by road and 1/3rd mile by boat to Taverns, Dairy Queen, Coffee Shop, Groceries, gas station and Public Beach with Playground. What I personally consider one of the best parts, there is a different sunset every day. Take a look at couple in the photos. You can also enjoy: Free public boat landing, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball Courts and small Skate Park. There are also three local Golf courses: Norwood Golf Course, Bottens Green Acres, and Poplar Golf Course Local Restaurants and Taverns. The famous Brule River only 10 minutes away. Amnicon Falls State Park only 15 minutes away. 25 Miles to the twin ports of Superior, WI and Duluth, MN

My wife and I have been staying here for over 7 years. Everything about the cabin is first rate. Todd is an excellent host. The internet and the TV work great. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation spot in a lake. Very peaceful and serene. Jeff Edwards
This property is absolutely amazing! We loved everything about it, from communication with the owner to the plethora of amenities. Highly recommend this property.
The property was great as was the location. Parking was limited and I was pulling a boat, which is on me for not thinking to ask the property owner about it. The fishing boat there for use was not clean and looked as though it hasn't been used in years, full of spider webs etc. I would definetely stay again knowing what I know.
The directions to the property and how to check in were very clear. The space worked out very well for us and we always felt comfortable on our trip. Thanks for having us.
All our expectations were met and enjoyed the home and setting. The instructions for the home stay were clear and precise. There can be a challenge parking at night due the narrow driveway and curvature. When visiting the area in the future we would certainly consider this property again.
We enjoyed this stay. Clean and comfortable. The full covered deck was great to avoid the rain but still be outside. We’d have no issues staying here again in the future!
This is our 5th year having a 2 week stay at this cabin. Location is great. Dairy Queen in town makes a great after dinner event. Cabin is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
We had a great winter weekend stay. The cabin is tucked away in a beautiful setting and only a short drive to the After Hours trail system where we enjoyed plenty of x-country skiing. We found the cabin to be cozy and well equipped. The owner was easy to reach and very responsive.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this location. We were lucky to have most of the week to ourselves since no one was in the other cabin. It was nice and close to Superior/Duluth and tho the skeeters were plenty, the deer I think outnumbered them. We saw deer, bear and even a baby moose. Perfect place for a couple or small family. Thank you our stay
We have been coming here for 6 years. The quiet of the woods and location above Lake Nebagamon have to be experienced to be appreciated. Great location near town and only 25 miles from Duluth/Superior. Could not have had a more relaxing enjoyable stay. I would recommend it to anyone.
We had a lovely stay at the Eagle’s Nest. The area is quiet, forested and rural and the house was clean with comfy beds and a great deck facing the water. We grocery shopped at the nearby gas station/grocery which had a decent selection of food and drinks.
We spent a morning at Amnicon Falls State Park and had lunch at the nearby restaurant. Great food and service.
Todd was responsive when we had a question about the fireplace (it’s connected to the thermostat).

Very comfortable house with a fantastic deck and enjoyable fire place
we Enjoyed our stay at Eagles Nest. We had two couples that stayed and very accommodating for us. We used the deck entire time even though lots of rain. It was awesome that it was covered and we could still be on it during the rain. And without saying the fireplace was used too and we loved that. Great having lots of towels in bathroom. We certainly would go back
This was my first VRBO experience- I was so pleased! The property was well maintained- inside & outside- and was extremely clean, which is always my biggest concern when traveling. It was very comfortable and had many touches that made the stay more enjoyable, for example, lots of hooks, surfaces to set things, extra outlets, and nightlights. The bed linens and beds were super comfortable. There were plenty of seating inside and out, and if the mosquitoes weren’t so bad, we would have eaten every meal at the table out on the spacious deck. The lake is super clear and sandy and is shallow enough to wade around. Unfortunately our trip didn’t allow for much time in/around the lake, but it’s a great location for kids or adults. I have zero complaints and hope to stay here again!

Beautiful Newer House-Boat and Motor Included
My family of four had a wonderful stay here in early August. The house has everything you'd need for a stay... including new appliances, cookware and utensils. We've stayed at many "up north" cabins over the years and this was the best by far. The house is in a nice wooded setting with a view of the lake from the large deck and sliding doors from the living room and one of the two bedrooms. And for those who aren't able to "get away" completely from work, there's wifi that worked quite well. The boat, including a motor, made it easy to get out and fish and see the lake, and there's a good place to swim right off the dock. There's a full kitchen, but if you want to eat out, there are several nearby options. However, we enjoyed that it's also a bit off the "tourist trail."
We found this house to be an excellent value, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thanks!!

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
way to expensive
We stayed here thinking it would be wonderful bc the price king was high, big mistake. Bugs everywhere, sheets weren’t clean, no AC! The chairs provided by firepit were all basically broken. Not safe for adults or children. The lake was nice but that’s about it, we won’t stay here again. Property manager lives in CA so he isn’t around. This is not a cali home but price was marked for it…run away.

The guest's experience is the guest's experience but we did want to point out the necessity of reading property descriptions. Of course expecting AC and not finding it can tarnish an entire experience. The description clearly says there is no AC. Just fans and large sliders facing the lake. Communication is also important. We did find that a couple chairs by the fire pit had been damaged and of course we immediately replaced them. Just like last fall a guest arrived to find the refrigerator working intermittently, we had a new refrigerator installed in less than 12 hours. Although it's true that as owners we spend our winters in California and summers in Lake Nebagamon, we have both local housekeeping and a local property manager living on the lake. The mosquitoes were especially bad during their stay but our home is kept clean with freshly washed linens so I'm guessing that part was added just because they didn't have a good experience. In any case please read descriptions, positive and negative reviews, and by all means let us know right away if you find a problem. Thanks for reading.

AWESOME!
Everything about this place was awesome!! The property owner's went out of their way to accommodate us during our stay. Todd and Barby are super nice people. They were easy to get a hold of whenever I had questions and always responded in a timely manner either through text message, email or by phone. They were again, very accommodating with getting us set up with firewood for campfires, helping us dock our boat, loaning out their gas caddy for us and not to mention they even took my husband and son tubing!! The lake itself is beautiful!! Very large and lots of wildlife to see, including loons and Bald Eagles. The house was very peaceful and the pictures on the website were very accurate as to how the place looks when you arrive. We had a family of 3 (plus our dog) and we did not feel cramped at all for space. Everything inside is recently updated or remodeled, which was great! They pretty much have the place stocked up with whatever you may need as far as dishes, utensils, cookware, towels, pots and pans, silverware, paper towel, lots of bath towels, new bedding, etc. If they did not have something we were looking for we simply told them so that they can make sure it will be available for the next renters. We were only the second family to stay here, so they wanted to make sure if something was missing, they would get it and have it on hand for the future. They also had a gas grill, which was nice to be able to use. There is no A/C, however they have fans in every room, which made it very comfortable. This place is great for relaxing and for any type of watersport you may want to do. There is a bar across the lake and a Dairy Queen that you can get to by boat or even by swimming. If you're looking for a place in the Northwoods to just relax or get on the water and have some fun.....this is the place!! We will be back!

Not a pleasant winter getaway experience for snowmobiling
First the good...I think the owner truly wants to do a good job serving the customer. He was very responsive and even proactive at times with communication. I think the breakdown in satisfaction is a result of not visiting the cabin in-person, or not having the correct remote management.
Now the not-so-good...
1) I booked the cabin for a nice snowmobile weekend getaway with my wife. I chose this because the location of the cabin was within 100 yards of the trail that crosses the lake. Despite the proximal ease shown in the aerial map view, there is no lake access from this cabin. You'll need to ride the road for about a mile to catch the trail.
2) There is a lot of snow here and the parking is almost non-existent. There is a tight loop at the end of the hilly drive that is difficult to navigate with a trailer. Looks like there is parking for the non-snowy season, though.
3) This is a single-level cabin for all intent and purposes, despite the photo that shows two levels.
4) The cabin was fairly clean, but not immaculate. When preparing coffee I opened the lid and discovered an old filter and grounds with about 1/2" of mold growing on top.
5) The furnishings did not match the price of the cabin. We've stayed at other VRBO properties for the same price that were literally 10x the experience. The couch was old and had torn piping hanging out on one of the cushions. The DVD player did not work. It was difficult to find a working outlet in the living room. The gas fireplace was quite outdated.
6) The lot is very narrow and there are basically two cabins between you and lake. One is slightly to the right and the other slightly to the left. There are nice big patio doors in the living room and master bedroom, but you kind of feel like you're on display if the drapes are open.
We had booked a two-night stay, but ended up leaving a day early because it just wasn't comfortable. The owner refunded $50, so that was a nice gesture. I'm sure this is an entirely different experience in the summer, but for a winter getaway the experience just didn't match the price.

To begin the original complaint was completely legitimate as housekeeping left coffee grounds in the maker from a previous guest a month prior. As I was appalled by this unacceptable but honest mistake by my housekeeper, I immediately let the guest know I was refunding $50 of his two day stay. My housekeeper felt appropriately bad and offered to buy a new one coffeemaker. I believe it was my immediate refund that triggered the rest of this negative review in an effort to get the stay paid for in full. Although everyone is entitled to an opinion, I am lead to believe this review is not legit not only because it has been our only negative review but also because of a few things that were mentioned that were blatantly misleading. For instance, the entire building including the fireplace was built 12 years ago. Brand new stove/oven and refrigerator. The photos show the fireplace clearly. There has never been a DVD player offered in the amenities so wow on that one. I don't offer a snowmobile either but I'm surprised he didn't complain about how it rides. The description clearly states the square footage and that the downstairs garage is not available to renters and that the downstairs laundry is available. The photos show the exact placement of the house in relation to the summer cabin which sits empty all winter. There is nothing but yard between the house and the water. The guest may not like the great views from the patio doors but again, both the doors and the views were clearly shown in the photos prior to the booking. Also prior to booking I specifically called the guest to let him know I would approve his request for early check in and that we've had an additional 2 feet of snow above the yearly average. To that point I normally pay $40 for snowplowing service. The day our guest arrived the fee was $150 because of the additional snow. I also specifically mentioned that out of all my snowmobile guests, one guest mentioned they had trouble entering the lake from our shore. So again I believe that negativity in this review is a result of the guest trying to take advange of my good nature by trying to get me to pay for his trip. My housekeeper has guaranteed that the coffeemaker will always be clean. As for rest I ask that this guest and anyone else please look at photos and read descriptions in the future. Thanks for reading and happy vacationing.
Our family has been on the lake for more than a hundred years. I have been on this property for 50 years even though I'm still only 39 year old. That's pretty amazing in itself!
NOTE- to avoid any confusion the boat in the photo is our family boat and is not part of the rental.
Why they chose this property
This property is the site of the oldest cabin on the lake. The old cabin is still on the property. It was build by the original lumberjacks at the old sawmill which was located across the lake where the boys camp is today. More than a 150 years ago it was pulled across the ice during the winter and placed on this property. Even the lumber jacks new that this was the best property on the lake. When you start using the lake you will see why. Baker Point has a sand bar less than 4 feet deep which runs several hundred feet straight out from shore. On both sides of this point there are gradual drop-offs. This makes for the perfect spot for fishing as well as swimming and learning to ski for young children.
