Bayfield Migizi Landings Lake Superior Shore Home

Located between Bayfield and Washburn on the sandy beaches of Lake Superior sits Migizi Landings. You will quickly learn why this home is so special to our family.

Migizi Landings is a short drive to everything that Bayfield County has to offer. A very convenient spot for those who vacation, hike, canoe, kayak, ski, ATV visit the Bayfield Apple Festival and attend Big Top Chautauqua events.

Many have told us that once they arrive they never want to leave the home. Local craftsmen built the four-story timber frame home in 2001. Many of the large wood beams were reclaimed from area buildings. Like the homes of Scandinavia that have stood for centuries, no metal is used in the super structure of Migizi Landings. You will stare up from the great room and fireplace three floors above to the loft and vaulted ceiling in awe at the sea of pine.

The home features four bedrooms, three full baths, a large authentic Finnish sauna, two fireplaces, an outdoor lake shower and a large fourth-floor open loft. A three-quarters wrap deck extends to the back overlooking Lake Superior, Madeline and Long Islands. An extended dining table in the great room can accommodate large gatherings. Custom built furniture and art fill the cabin making it feel like home to all who visit.

We named our home Migizi Landings from the Ojibwa Indian (Lake Superior Band) name meaning bald eagle. On the day we bought the home in 2009 a pair of bald eagles landed on a tree on the corner of the property looking over Lake Superior. On every visit since we see them multiple times daily. Their nest is on the lake within a 1/2 mile of our home. Deer, fox, loons, pileated woodpeckers and much more are experienced on visit.

A post-stay cleaning fee is taken out of your security deposit. It is typically $150-175, but has been higher when the cabin needs more post-stay attention.

Beautiful cabin on the lake! Accommodated our multiple families with a few children. We were here in winter and it was cozy, but I can imagine how nice it would be in the summer as well. Patti and Kevin were very communicative and answered all my questions in a timely manner. Lovely hosts!

It is spectacular as advertised. It is very well furnished, and the layout is conducive for multiple families.The location is peaceful and private but still close to local attractions. The view is magnificent. We loved staying here.

Our favorite part of the cabin was the beach area. We did a fire on the beach every night. They have plenty of wood stocked. The sauna was also a fun experience. We would stay here again.

Amazing Cabin and beachfront

The cabin is huge with a wraparound porch and a nice view with your own beach. My wife and I had a terrific one year anniversary stay. Apostle islands are awesome too!

This is a beautiful home in a perfect location to enjoy Chequamegon Bay and the surrounding area! The timber frame construction of this home is magnificent, and it is a perfect stay for families and friends. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here!

Applefest at the Thomas Cabin

The Thomas Cabin, aka Migizi's Landing, is absolutely as spectacular as the pictures. What a great relaxing place to stay. Views of Chequamegon Bay and the Apostle Islands are breath taking. The beach is fantastic and the amenities are too numerous to count.

Early season stay

Even though it was mid-May we enjoyed sunny, warm weather during our mother/daughter visit to the Apostle Islands and this lovely home. The house is open and roomy and contains all the comforts of home. We appreciated how clean and well-kept it was. We especially enjoyed the wraparound deck and the loft library. The owners gave us great directions and also a helpful list of recommended restaurants and adventures in neighboring towns. We had a great time!
