Lovely house down the hill from Castelnaud castle

This home is just as it looks in the photos on the site. It is comprised of a small fenced yard and three floors: Ground Floor is the eat-in kitchen with a nice electric oven/range and nicely equipped collection of cooking and dining items, plus the refrigerator and a wood pellet stove. Also on that floor is a toilet and a washing machine (no dryer). Second floor is the living room with couch, easy chairs, table, and TV. Third floor is the bedroom with toilet, shower and sink at one end. The bed is pretty low to the ground (maybe mattress top is 12" off the floor...challenging for our 83-year-old bones to get up during the night and in the morning. The total of 30+ stairs up and down plus the short but modestly steep hill from the church parking area where you must park meant that we were not totally happy with the "exercise" each day. So this is just a warning for mobility challenged renters. The comment book was filled with happy reports from (clearly younger) tenants over the years. Take this as it is meant...just a warning for seniors with mobility issues. Overall, we loved our stay and recommend it for those who love this historic area. The neighbors, by the way, were very friendly and neighbor Kelly, in particular, helped make our move-in easier!

Charmante petite maison

Ce logement est un véritable cocon dans un adorable village médiéval. Très confortable, très bien équipé et bien situé, nous y avons passé une semaine très agréable. Fraîcheur dans la maison et climatisation dans la chambre sous les toits, très appréciable en période estivale ! Le petit jardin est charmant ! Idéal pour en séjour en amoureux !

Wohnliches Haus, bestens gelegen für Ausflüge

Alles perfekt. Wir können diese Unterkunft allen empfehlen, nur das Bett ist ein bisschen tief. Wer gerne Rätsel löst, sollte sich unbedingt in Allas-les-Mines (5 Min. entfernt) "La rue de temps qui passe" besuchen. Wer findet die Dinge, die nicht in die Zeit passen? Ein Vergnügen für Gross und Klein!

Wunderschönes Haus an super Lage

Sehr stilvoll eingerichtetes, gemütliches Haus zwischen der Plage de Castelnau und der Burg Castelnau: schön gestalteter Aussenbereich, ideale, ruhige Lage, bei grosser Hitze bewirkt die Klimaanlage eine wohlige Kühlung im Schlafraum (Dachgeschoss). Zu Fuss ist man in wenigen Minuten unten an der Plage mit Restaurants, einem Einkaufsladen mit dem Nötigsten sowie einer ausgezeichneten Bäckerei. Uns gefiel dort besonders die wunderbare Badestelle in der Dordogne an der Plage. Tipp: Google Maps wollte uns mit unserem Auto den Fussweg von der Plage zur Burg hinaufschicken. Das Haus ist aber mit Hilfe der Anweisung der Gastgeber einfach zu finden (Parkplatz bei der katholischen Kirche, 2 Minuten vom Haus)

Au creux du village de Castelnaud, à mi chemin entre le château et la Dordogne, magnifique maison en pierre sur 3 niveaux très bien équipée avec une terrasse privative très agréable.

Fantastic village home

Exceptional home in such a gorgeous place. From day one of our two week stay, we were so happy with the location and and all that the home offers. Excellent kitchen supplies, comfortable bed & sitting areas, good shower, and thoughtfully decorated throughout. The outdoor area was just perfect as it perched over the walking path up to the castle, but was also very private. Parking ended up being easy, but best way to find the house was following the signs to the church from the road—house is just up from the church. Restaurants, bakery, and butcher all within walking distance. This is one of the most unique and well loved places we have stayed and will be anxious to come back someday!

Charmantes kleines Steinhaus auf dem Berg

Das kleine wunderschön renovierte Häuschen hatte all die angenehmen Dinge zu bieten, die man braucht, um einen ruhigen Urlaub zu verbringen. Einziger Nachteil ist, dass Menschen, die größer als 1,75 m sind, immer aufpassen sollten, sich nicht den Kopf anzuschlagen. Die Decken und der Haustürstock sind leider sehr niedrig.

Très agréable

Accueil sympathique et décontracté des propriétaires de cette petite maison pleine de charme, idéalement située pour découvrir la magnifique vallée de la Dordogne. Les commerces au bas du village : boulangerie, boucherie et bar-restaurant sont très appréciables, de même que la base de canoë. Un très bon séjour !

Charming house in breathtaking location

We spent a very enjoyable week visiting nearby castles and villages. The house is very pretty but the stairs, with their open treads and unprotected drop from the top, might be disconcerting for some and a definite risk for a crawling baby or toddler.

Perfect in every way

We had the pleasure of staying for one week in this lovely little house. It was the perfect base on which to travel around the other little villages in this region. It was so clean and tidy and is a credit to the oweners Geordy and Jessica. The attention to detail with which this house been furnished ensured that there was nothing which we could have wanted for. The barbecue set in the outdoor space made for a relaxing end to lovely days spent in the Dordogne.

Sehr schönes Haus in toller Lage

Wir hatten ein tolle Woche in Castelnaud. Das Haus war wunder schön, sehr gepflegt und sauber. Schöne Küche und Grill lädt zum kochen ein. Das Haus liegt sehr zentral im Ort es gibt Bäcker, Metzger und Restaurants die einen Aufenthalt sehr angenehm machen. Wirklich zu Empfehlen. Wir hatten einen schönen erholsamen Urlaub.
