Four minutes walk to the main square of Sarlat, and so quiet and peaceful. If you like eating out or just strolling around the town, you couldn't have a better location.
Lovely house, well equipped, in a fantastic location for Sarlat - 5 minutes walk into town yet quiet. Sophie was friendly and very helpful. Would stay again!

Magical!
We had a fabulous stay in Sarlat at the Longere de Desmouret. Itâs a lovely, adorable, well-equipped cottage in a perfect location! Absolutely magical! We loved it and we will be back!!!
A wonderful location overlooking the medieval city. A short walk to the centre.
The nicest and best quipped property we've ever stayed in, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated.
Sophie was on hand for any help or recommendations. Would throughly recommend this property.

Lovely property, very well equipped and clean. Five minute walk down steps and a path into the centre of Sarlat. Very convenient. Clearer instructions on how to locate the property would be helpful. Good parking down the steep driveway, best to reverse. Sophie answered any queries I had very quickly by email.
Sophie, owner, advised us where to park - down the steep slope to the gite or the top of the drive by the postboxes next to Les Desmourets car park. On arrival we reversed the car down the drive to unload. The second night we left the car in the designated space by the postboxes, in front of the garden. A footpath goes from the car park, past the gite down to the town. We were horrified next morning to discover our new car had been keyed. It ruined our day and the following day when we had to spend the morning at the gendarmerie reporting the incident for our insurance company as well as the hundreds of 's we have to pay as excess on the claim. Thereafter we negotiated the tight turn and steep slope to park outside the gite. Our other issue was the misleading information provided on booking. The document providing information in the property (English and French) gave basic info on heating, WiFi code etc as well as a statement that unless we had already done so we had the option to pay a 60 cleaning fee or clean the property on departure! In the information provided by VRBO when we booked there was no mention of this. The only thing I saw was 'housekeeping optional' which I took to be something we could request if required. I queried this with VRBO and they clarified the owner stated an option to pay the extra charge or clean! VRBO's booking conditions supposedly state no extra charges will be made after booking! We left the property cleaner than we found it. Disappointed!
Wonderful stay at this very sweet home away from home in close proximity to the medieval town of Sarlat. Peaceful outdoor space at front of house for relaxing and eating. Very well appointed house with everything anyone would need. Sophie was lovely host, available, responsive and helpful when we contacted her with an issue. Very prompt to remedy a concern which was greatly appreciated. We had a lovely time.
Very well located property a short walk from the centre of Sarlat. Very well equipped for self catering, very friendly owner.2 tiny suggestions:A clear sign at the top of the drive would make initially finding the wonderfully tucked away property easier.Clearer instructions on where to find the public bins.Overall a very enjoyable stay, and we would not hesitate to return.
This gorgeous cottage is Peaceful, bucolic, and close to everything including just steps from the beautifully preserved village of SarlatSophie has exceptional taste in decor and provided everything you could possibly need, including washer and dryer, plenty of towels, dinnerware, table linens and even spices. We spent much of our time on the beautiful patio, and also visited local prehistoric cave art, took a cruise on the Dordogne River, and rode bicycles on a scenic paved trail in Sarlat. Sophie is the âhostess with the mostestâWe would return in a heartbeat!!
Sophie's house exceeded our expectations. Pretty, charming and perfectly situated. the house was welcoming and met all of our needs. Sophie was a great host; she was responsive and helpful, and we would highly recommend this lovely "home away from home".
Lovely property, well equipped. Location close to centre was great and meant we coulde easily access the restaurants, shops and market. Excellent stay.
We stayed week and very much enjoyed this property. We woke to birdsong each morning and then had a short 5 minute walk to our choice of bakeries. Wonderful stay.
This is clearly a 5-star property both in a lovely removed, private setting yet mere steps from the old town. The cottage is lovingly crafted and very up to date.
I was sorry not to have a "welcome notebook" with a history of the property as that would have been entirely fascinating. And although we figured everything out, a "user's guide" attached to that notebook would have been helpful.
It is a spectacular property and was a joy to experience.
A short walk down the hill to middle of town made it easy to visit restaurants, shops and a grocery store.
The house was roomy and quite comfortable.
The one shower was in the washroom on the first floor away from the bedrooms but we worked around that easily.
The one suggestion would be that a booklet outlining the use of the home eg where to put the garbage, how to operate TV, favorite restaurants etc. would be helpful. But Sophie answered all our question promptly.
Overall a great stay.
We had a wonderful 10 days in this beautiful home. The house was very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The walking path from the front door took us into Sarlat in just 5 minutes. Sophie was very responsive to any questions we had and provided us with some suggestions for restaurants in town. We would highly recommend this house.
