The Point House is a spectacular, waterfront house on the Fox Islands Thorofare. Privacy abounds as the house sits on over 350 private acres and is home to several private beaches. The property has it's own well-protected deep-water dock and 3 private moorings. There are 4 kayaks and paddle boards for use. Enjoy walks on the quiet road, or hikes up to Fox Rocks, the highest point on Vinalhaven.
Enjoy cooking in the warm kitchen with incredible water views. Appliances include Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer and Wolf gas stove.
Enjoy meals outside on the stone patio overlooking Penobscot Bay or in front of the outdoor fireplace on the covered porch.
House features two master bedrooms, 4 additional bedrooms, and a sleeping loft. 4 full baths, 1 half. Gourmet kitchen. Several outdoor porches, including wraparound porch for entertaining. Stone patio. 5 fireplaces, including one outside.

our favorite place to stay in Vinalhaven

This is a stunningly beautiful property with incredible views. The kitchen and bar was fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook for a large family (there were 9 of us). We ran out of propane gas in the middle of cooking and the owner had that issue resolved within 25 minutes, on a Sunday! We really appreciated the kayaks that were made available, the incredible sound system and the fireplaces. This property is so peaceful and quiet and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place on Vinalhaven.

Perfect August in Maine

Our 3-generation family could not have a better week at Smith Point. The house was uniquely designed, well-appointed and commodious and its location looking out to the eastern end of Fox Island Thorofare was everchangeling perfect for us even though we’ve transited it for 50 years by boat. Speaking of boats, the floating dock was great as we arrived with the boat as our only means of transit allowing the home to be our base for day trips east. For the grandkids, the grounds and kayaks as well as the beaches provided hours of play and learning. All-in-all, this was pretty much the ideal place for the Fowler family. Thank-you for making it available to us.
