About this property

The Anchorage, an oceanfront home with two private beaches on Islesboro Island

The Anchorage is a spectacular oceanfront peninsula property on Islesboro's eastern rocky coast overlooking Penobscot Bay. Enjoy sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and sunny afternoons, relaxing on the new covered deck or in the hammock with a book. With two private beaches, gorgeous ocean views from the living room, dining room, and three of the four bedrooms, the property is an ideal vacation space. There are sweeping lawns for relaxing or playing games, charming gardens, a private dock, and beaches for swimming in the cove.

The home, at the end of a quiet road, is in walking distance to tennis courts and playground, and close to the island's two markets, community center, farmer's market, post office, historical society, light house, town library, health center, and ice cream shop. Fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, new paint and furnishings throughout.

Enjoy morning coffee overlooking the bay while you watch eagles and osprey soar by along with loons, cormorants, and of course seagulls. You might well spot a family of porpoise, or a seal bobbing up to say hello. Schooners and other boats dot the bay along with the occasional working lobster boat. Boats are important in Islesboro; indeed, a boat is the only way to reach the island. Our car and passenger ferry departs from Lincolnville Beach frequently. On the twenty minute ferry ride, you'll experience the lovely sense of leaving the world behind. Whether you are looking for a tranquil getaway or an ideal setting for family fun and memories, The Anchorage is a magical place.

Beautiful property. The crew from Northern Maine saw seals, sailboats, sea glass and even a full rainbow over the ocean. Best work accommodations ever!

The Anchorage is among the most picturesque properties on Islesboro. The home has island cottage feel but spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. The covered porch is waterfront and a favorite spot for sunrise and coffee, happy-hours and dinner (large table). The hammock was great for reading or a nap. Two beaches and a dock provided ample swimming options. The owners were welcoming, kind and responsive. It was the perfect vacation spot!

Our family of 5 was fortunate to spend an idillic week at The Anchorage. The property is situated on a point of land that offers privacy, unparalled views, easy access to two gorgeous beaches and room for our children and pup to roam. The house is recently renovated and Todd and Kristen did not overlook any details in preparing the property for their guests. Everything from the local wildflower bouquets, to abundant games, books, binoculars, and thoughtful recommendations on how to spend our time on the island was appreciated. The house is well equipped for cooking and has a full sized grill on the porch! The beds were comfortable and the rooms tastefully decorated. Our 3 children spent hours swimming off the dock and exploring in the rocks and on the beach. Todd supplied them with lifevests and lent them a rowboat to explore the cove where the starfish and mussles were abundant. He also lent our son a fishing rod, which occupied him for hours on end while we enjoyed morning coffee and evening cocktails on the porch. Our family will cherish our time spent in this little slice of paradise and we hope to return in the future!

We live in a separate house on the four acre property, as well as on the mainland in Northport. We are both former teachers who love to travel, garden, and gaze out at the ocean. Todd is an independent contractor involved in building projects and Kristen is a college consultant. The property has been in Todd's family for over sixty years and is a treasured part of our lives.

Why they chose this property

We love the quiet at the end of the road, the sweeping views of the bay, the sunrises and loon calls and moonlight. The neighborhood is made up of many families we've known for years and years.

What makes this property unique

It's hard to describe how beautiful this land is, or even convey it in pictures. We live in such a lovely place.
