The house is really a small castle and is filled with historical items and beautiful furniture. It is like staying in a true castle. What a wonderful place.
We enjoyed a fantastic holiday with family and friends in this beautiful house and grounds. The house is conveniently located and has great character and outstanding facilities. The on-site property managers were extremely friendly and helpful and quick to respond to any issues that arose.
The property was perfect for hosting multiple families with young children for our visit to France ahead of a family wedding. The history of the property was fascinating, we had plenty of room to house 4 families and a couple other cousins. The hosts were even kind enough to let us host a dinner for other family members staying nearby. Gregoire stayed in a cottage close by and was very kind and responsive to help with any issues that came up, and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. We’re so glad we chose this property for our adventure and would definitely come back in the future!
We hosted several groups of friends over a two week period and had an amazing time. We explored the grounds, played on the lawn, swam in the pool and fell in love with our evenings around the table and under the historic oak tree. The house is rustic, so be aware, but that is what makes it beautiful. A great central location 10 minutes from Cour-Cheverny and 20 minutes from the train station in Blois. And best of all Gregoire and Alexandra could not be more gracious and hospitable. We wanted for nothing….except more time.
Our four-day stay in this old, enormous, creaky castle was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of us, and easily the highlight of our two-week stay in France.
The home is an easy drive to Chenenceaux and Ambroise, which were also magical. Highly recommended.
Wonderful stay! Alexandra has amazing 500 year old house which is absolutely fabulous. Caroline amd Adrian are the local contacts and they do a marvelous job of keeping it in shape and helping guests. Cannot recommend any higher!
We absolutelyl loved this property and the hosts! 5 star all around. Alexandra and Gregoire are a pleasure, helpful beyond belief (we were sick and Alwxandra went above and beyond to help us.). She is also a fantastic cook and cooked 4 meals for us out of the 8 nights we stayed there. All very gourmet and so lovely to eat outside under the huge tree with the chandelier. I just feel bad, because we were so sick! My husband ended up in the hospital. Turns out we had a very bad case of bronchitis. Not sure if we would have made it through the week without Alexandra's help! I can't recommend this beautiful property with fantastic hosts enough!!!
A small chateau in its time made into a family home where you can relax with your family, of all ages. Lots of space, inside and out, games, and a swimming pool for all to enjoy. An historic building with antique furniture, artefacts and artwork to admire. Much time was spent in our home from home, with short trips out to the boulangerie, shops and local village, and to Blois, Huards for wine tasting, Chateau de Cherverny and to the Loire for kayaking. A wonderful holiday for our family of 3 generations aged from 3 to 71.
Oh wow this house! This might be my favourite Vrbo house ever. The photos seriously don't do it justice. Kitchen is great - well stocked with everything you'd need, including 2 fridges and 2 dishwashers. It's clearly a house that is lived in rather than just used as a holiday place, so has been well maintained. Gregoire and Alexandra are excellent hosts, unobtrusive but easily available when we needed them (they spend the summer in a cottage next door). Gregoire's tour told us some of the history of the place which was genuinely fascinating. I also appreciated that the hosts were relatively relaxed about house rules (unlike some other places where I have spent all week worrying about children leaving footprints on wood floors!) We had Alexandra cook a meal for us, which I would definitely recommend - superb flavours and beautifully presented. Not really any down-sides to this place, but a few things to note for future guests... You need insect repellent in the forest or if you sit out in the evenings. The house is not close to any villages so you end up driving every day to get food etc. Bikes are useful. Our kids were a bit sensitive to the pool chemicals so we would hose everyone down after they'd been in. But honestly, this is a fantastic place and great value for money - my only fear is that when I look at this listing in a year's time it will be 100% booked out or double the price.
Ruime voorraad bestek, borden etc; heel fijn.
Although it is old, the house is very well maintained. The property is private, quiet and beautiful. Six of us spent 2 weeks there in June, 2022. Great support from owner and from caretakers in nearby house. House was equipped with everything you might need. New showers. 2 refrigerators. Great outside sitting area with chandelier in a 400 year old tree in the back!
We stayed here for a week with 6 adults and five children and had a most wonderful time. Before arriving, the communication with the owners was easy, quick and friendly. The welcoming was warm and the castle did not disappoint. It is a place with a lot of soul and character, and beautifully decorated. The property is huge and our three families each had a wing in the house. The rooms are very spacious and light, and everything is up to standards and clean. The owners live in the house outside the holiday season, so it is well taken care off. The big kitchen was perfect for our family cooking sessions, and we were delighted to find a plancha outside (which we almost used every day). We had wonderful lunches and dinners under the magnificent century-old oak in the garden. The kids loved the playing room and to explore the castle and its immense garden (including cows and pigs). The big trampoline and pool obviously were a big success as well. A fence around the pool was installed as an extra precaution for the smallest children. The property is very calm without any nearby neighbours. There is a bakery and butcher in the village nearby, a very big supermarket is only a 10 minute drive away. Do visit the winery 'Domaine des Huards' in the same street, and ask for a bottle of the 'Vivier' which is made from grapes grown on the property. This charming castle is highly recommended and we hope to visit it again.

Delightful, authentic, welcoming house
What a beautiful and comfortable house. We've stayed in France many times, but this is our favourite house so far. Whilst being very large, the house was comfortable and we could immediately relax. Having 6 children in our party, the gardens, and games rooms were perfect, not to mention the heated pool which lovely. The house was private, and the owner was very helpful, as well speaking excellent English. I'd recommend this house to large families and groups every time.
