Winter is not the only season full of fun and adventurous activities in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The summer season brings activities like hiking and mountain biking, as well as kayaking, fishing, swimming, and golfing. Hike some of the numerous and beautiful nearby mountains, or bike the Kingdom Trails system in the Burke area. Kayak, fish, or swim in Lake Memphremagog, Crystal Lake, or Lake Willoughby. All are nearby. You can also fish the Black River from the back yard.
Not far away, Jay Peak Resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, in addition to an ice arena, tram rides, and as previously mentioned, an indoor waterpark.
There are many restaurants nearby, and the house is just a short distance from the Newport area, which has anything one could need. We take my Dad to Vt every year around Fathers day for a fishing trip.....this location was one of our favorites. Huge house, all the amenities, couldn't have been happier. Highly recommended
We had a wonderful stay here! The propery is well maintained and spacious. We loved walking to the brook in the morning (the mist above the water with the reflection of the foliage was beautiful)- and there were many trails to investigate! The bedroom was cozy and the den was comfortable. Our dog Harlie loved the house- and the back yard- and the walks. Thanks for a great stay!
We all have an incredible time in Vermont at this property. It was simply perfect. It was close to Jay Peak for skiing and restaurants for going out. The beds were all comfortable and plenty of living space for all of us to spread out.
The property had lots of space for sleeping. The pictures are reflective of the actual space. The house is quite old and shows its age. The furnace can loud when it runs as there are ventilation that runs up between the main floor bedrooms. Outside was quite lovely with a river near by and snowmobile trail.
We went to play Newport CC and have a weekend with my two children and their spouses. We also had our 6 month old grandson. The house was set up perfectly as one bedroom had a smaller room connected to it. Perfect for the baby portable crib. The house is a very quick drive from Newport activities. Great weekend. Plenty of space in house.
Very clean home. Perfect location for viewing the 2024 eclipse. We've been to the Northern part of Vermont before but not the Irasburg area. It's very quiet and peaceful. The home is a lovely restored farm house with plenty of room for 8 in our family gathering age range 18-84. We had a great time. Had a check in snafu that was our fault due to the way the vrbo app displays info but resolved quickly. Hope we didn't bother the hosts ;-)
Upon arrival, the place was infested with what looked like lady bugs and flies. The kitchen walls, ceiling light fixture, counters and floors were crawling with these bugs. There were dead lady bugs and flies on the kitchen floor. The 2 bathrooms had clusters of these bugs in the corners. Instead of settling in, we spend the time removing bugs from the walls, showers, etc and sweeping up the piles of insects. The following days lady bugs had to be cleaned off and counters and cooking areas had to be wiped down before eating and cooking. The bathroom next to the kitchen continued to have large number of ladybugs that had to be cleaned. Everyday all essential areas had to be swept because we were stepping on dead bugs. We notified the host and sent pictures of the bugs. She responded and explained the ladybug situation. If this is the case,we expect the place to be inspected and cleaned before the quests arrive. The host could have tried to remedy the situation for example by offering to send someone to clean or an apology and offer a discount for the inconvenience.

Why they chose this property
The homestead was originally built by Daniel Bean in 1855, and then sold to his son George and wife Lodeska where they operated one of the largest dairy farms in Vermont at that time. The property stayed in the Bean family for more than a century until it was sold in 1965. In 2013, the property was repurchased back into the Bean family, six generations after it was built, and was fully restored over the course of the next two years.
