About this property

Jasmine villa newly renovated 2026, situated in large gardens close to the pool

Jasmine is one of our three beautiful villas set in our spacious landscaped gardens which have been carefully chosen for their beautiful flowers and foliage, allowing for a private experience, with mature trees providing shade from the sun.

Our emerald green lawns give the opportunity to lay back and sunbath around the pool, or play a few lawn games.

The pool is a massive 20 meters by 10 meters, perfect for relaxing in or for the serious swimmer to get some lengths in. The pool is situated 50 meters from the villa and shared with the other 2 villas. Available 24hrs a day.

The villa has two bedrooms, one large double and an even bigger triple, with the option of adding an extra single bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Space to sit inside and eat or enjoy our outside patio area with gas BBQ for alfresco dinning.

We have a gated private parking spot for each villa. Guests are very welcome to enjoy our various gardens at any time to relax and enjoy the Cretan flowers and wildlife in perfect tranquility.

Our village is located at the foot of the mountain Malaxa, and has the feel of a traditional Greek village, yet only 4km from Chania. There are two local mini markets a chemist and a coffee shop. There is also a traditional taverna serving food and drink.

Meltemaki beach is 2km away it is a beautiful sandy beach popular with the locals. There is a fish taverna, perfect for experiencing authentic Mediterranean seafood.

There is a village bus stop 30 meters from the entrance to the car park, and a bus stop 1km away on the main road from Souda to Chania, buses run every 20 minutes from there and three times a day from the village bus stop.
Taxis from the center of Chania back to Crete retreat are around 8 euro.

Crete retreat is a family run business and we live on site so are available if needed. We are animal lovers with dogs, cats, chickens and parakeets kept within our own premises. Guests are welcome to arrange a visit.

In our opinion Crete Retreat is a perfect environment for people who wish to explore and enjoy Crete, from a beautiful and unique oasis.

Tourist Tax 2026

As of 1st January 2025 the Greek authorities have increased the Tourist tax from a nominal amount.

Oasis

A beautiful, secluded oasis. Huge swimming pool in very spacious grounds. Walking distance to 2 local bar/ restaurants. Within easy reach of Chania.Total relaxation.

This is a fantastic accommodation. Beautiful villas , incredible manicured grounds , huge well kept pool. Most of all the hosts made our stay unforgettable, Rob Racheal and Ian went out of their way to ensure everything was top notch. From the garden fresh vegetables to the fresh eggs and hand crafted gifts all available in their little garden box store. One of the best places we have stayed in our many vacation trips . Do yourself a favor and book time at Crete Retreat , you will thank yourself after.

Hallo, hier unsere Erfahrungen. Wir haben für 18 Tage das Ferienhaus Jasmin gebucht. Zuerst einmal das Positive, die Aussenanlage, der Pool, der Stellplatz entspricht exakt der Beschreibung. Die Elektrogeräte funktionieren. Leider entspricht das Ferienhaus nicht mehr der Beschreibung . Der seperate Eingang ist nicht mehr vorhanden. Das Innere des Ferienhauses wurde schön fotografiert , soll heißen das es in Wirklichkeit nicht so toll aussieht. Die Möbel sind in die Jahre gekommen , das Sofa und die 2 Sessel haben Flecken. Der Hängesessel ist nicht mehr im Ferienhaus sondern hängt an einem Baum auf dem Gelände. Die vorhandenen Bäder sind eine Zumutung. Kaum Ablagefläche, jede Armatur wackelt und fällt bald aus der Wand. Das Wc ist undicht nach jeder Spülung tropft ein Gemisch aus Urin und Wasser auf den Boden. Es stinkt ....und da es kein Fenster gibt kann man das Bad auch nicht lüften. Der eingebaute Lüfter im Bad funktioniert nicht. Also putzt man jedes Mal das Bad um es erträglich zu machen. Allergings mit einem Wischmop der genau so grausig und schmutzig ist wie die Bäder. Die Sauberkeit lässt zu Wünschen übrig. Der Boden im gesammten Ferienhaus war nicht richtig gereinigt. Uns hat es nicht gefallen und wir würden uns Wünschen das man ein ehrliches Inserat liest.

Villa Jasmine

Wir haben ein paar schöne Tage in der Villa Jasmine verbracht. Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Nur das Wetter hätte schöner sein können. Es hat fast jeden Tag geregnet, so dass wir den schönen Pool nicht nutzen könnten. Vielen Dank an Rob und Ian.

Perfect location !!

It was exactly what we were looking for and more. The garden is amazing, you can buy vegetables from the property, the swimming pool is giant. Ian is making his own gin and it is gorgeous and Ian, Rob and Rachel are very nice and helpful. It is very near from Chania and perfect to discover the area. So you have to go there !!

Séjour agréable dans la région de Chania

Nous avons passé une semaine dans la maison Jasmine en juillet 2019. La maison est située à 15 minutes en voiture de Chania (la Canée) qui est une ville magnifique et a 10 minutes de plusieurs plages très agréables. La maison est grande et propre. D un cote de la maison il y a le salon, la cuisine, une chambre et une salle de douche avec wc. De l autre côté il y a une autre chambre avec une salle de douche/wc également. Les 2 parties de la maison ne communiquent pas, il faut sortir et traverser la terrasse pour rentrer de l autre côté. C est parfait pour 2 familles qui loueraient la maison ensemble pour que chacun ai son espace, ou alors pour une famille avec des grands enfants qui sont déjà un peu indépendants. Nous avions 2 enfants en bas âge, et du coup nous avons tous dormi dans la même chambre car nous n etions pas tranquilles qu elles soient si loin, nous avions peur de ne pas les entendre en cas de problème. La maison est très bien équipée, il manquerait juste peut-être un micro-ondes qui serait bien pratique. Les points forts : - la maison fait partie d une propriété de 3 maisons, mais elles sont bien espacées. Il n y a aucun vis à vis et on n entend pas du tout les voisins même s ils sont sur leur terrasse - la piscine est très grande et l espace autour est très verdoyant et agréable - chaque maison a son barbecue sur sa terrasse et sa place de parking à l interieur de la propriété. - le propriétaire (Ian) est tres gentil et disponible, et accommodant sur les horaires d arrivée et de départ Quelques points à améliorer : - la maison mériterait quelques petits travaux d entretien (ex le porte rouleau de papier wc ou les crochets pour accrocher les torchons qui vous restent dans la main car ils sont mal fixés dans le mur, les serrures des baies vitrées qui ferment mal...) - les stores sur les fenêtres dans les chambres ne filtrent que très peu la lumière. A 6h du matin il faisait plein jour dans les chambres, surtout celle avec les lits individuels, impossible de faire entendre à nos 2 petites qu il était trop tôt et qu il fallait continuer a dormir... au moins nous étions prêts de bonne heure pour explorer la région, mais ce n est pas très reposant. Cependant dans l ensemble, nous avons passé un bon séjour dans cette maison et la recommandons.

Nice lodging near Chania

Convenient lodging with a large pool. Within walking distance of Souda with supermarket, ATM and a Baker. It's easy to get around in the area by bus and it's a good starting point for excursions. Very nice and helpful landlord.

We stayed 10 days with 3 teenage boys so the extra bathroom was very helpful - villa was good, few areas needed some upgrade but fine for our stay. Pool was great. Loved Crete and proximity to village and local town and beautiful Chania a short drive/bus ride away. Well situated to explore the west end of Crete. Ian, the owner was very friendly and helpful.

La situation des maison de Ian est idéale, proche de Chania , mais retirée des plages avec les hôtels. Le jardin est un écrin de verdure autour de la grande piscine . La maison est grande et fonctionnelle , mais elle est vieillissante (besoin de quelques réparations) . Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour.

Peaceful hideaway near Chania

We stayed for 1 week in June and it was absolutely gorgeous! Ian is a terrific host, discrete and helpful. His garden is lovingly tended and he is always followed by his entourage of friendly dogs and the occasional cat. The pool is utterly wonderful, it's huge and there are lots of sun loungers dotted about for your use and it's floodlit at night. The villa is simple but just right, with a lovely covered veranda to sit out on and eat your breakfast. We were very comfortable and it's a little oasis from the bustle of being on the beach or in Chania. It's tucked away, you can walk to a cafe and taverna and the local shop but we never got round to it (!). It's very close to Souda, feels more like being in a suburb rather than a village but it's very peaceful and a 15 minute drive into the heart of Chania. You can also take the bus in from the end of the road. We were in a perfect location for various lovely beaches all about 20 minutes away by car and great sites like Aptera. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

La Crète est un pays magnifique et les Crétois accueillants

La Villa Jasmine aurait tous les atouts pour permettre un séjour très agréable. Un joli cadre, de l'espace, une grande piscine...le bémol...aucune coquetterie dans le logement dont l'entretien laisse à désirer, propreté limite, le store de rideau tombe à la 1ère utilisation, pas de tablette au dessus du lavabo, pas de poubelle de sdb, pomme de douche ne tenant pas accrochée, robinetterie prête à tomber, fermeture des portes d'entrée bricolée, peu de vaisselle, frigo petit pour 4/5 personnes, les chats et chiens du propriétaire s'invitent constamment à votre table ( 3 chiens et 7 chats dont certains ont les yeux qui coulent et semblent faméliques) un chien qui s'invite dans la piscine sous l'oeil du propriétaire, des outils disséminés dans le terrain ( hache, scie, marteau etc) bref beaucoup de laisser-aller de la part du propriétaire qui semble désabusé.

Not Prepared Well

Our Villa was the only one that was open and as such we were under the impression that we were the first visitors of the season. The Villa and Gardens are lovely and pool is great. But when we arrived the place had not been cleaned and was dusty and dirty obviously it had just been opened after the winter and very little preparation had taken place. The bedding was clean and prepared but that was all. We had to clean everything and there was thick dust and grease over the cooker. There was a smashed picture with glass all over the floor in the living room. Ian came and made a half hearted attempt at cleaning it up and we had to finish the rest. Plates and crockery that chipped should have been replaced. In a nutshell preparation was next to none existant.

Thank you for your review- we did say that we would take responsibility and liability for the broken picture during your stay. Our cleaners have been retained for several seasons for their high level of work and presentation and as we are onsite, we are always prepared to recall them to guests that have any issues, as they live in the village. On examination we did find a chip on one of the plates and we apologise for the oversight.

Eighteen years ago we finally realized our long held dream and set off from England to our new life on the warm and sunny island of Crete. We had already purchased a plot of land with a house and one acre of orange trees and olive trees.

In the time honoured fashion of the island it took over a year to overcome the paperwork and legalities connected with our purchase but then we were able to start our huge project.

The gardens and villas slowly took shape, each year bringing exciting changes as the trees and plants matured. The result is now three villas set in beautiful gardens. Having been to Greece on previous occasions we wanted to make the accommodation spacious. A large bathroom was a must and raised sun terraces were top priority. We wanted to create individual privacy without being isolated and a pool that you could really swim in.

Our pet cats and dogs live together in harmony, a memorable experience especially for children.
Here, Mums and Dads have a great opportunity to relax together or find space, peace and quiet knowing that their family are in a safe enclosed environment.
Our location makes it easy to explore the important historical sites dotted around, try Aptera, ten minutes along the motorway, which is an ancient Roman settlement covering several acres. We are also positioned on 42nd street, the site of the battle of Crete which is marked by a plaque and information.
