About this property
Bergeries de Carmensac Charming sheepfolds with pool in the Perigord Noir
In a listed site located between the valleys of Dordogne and of Vezere (around 20 km away from Sarlat), this property for rent has 3 old small sheep folds, renovated in 2009 with a very beautiful private pool, the entire property on a plot of land of 1900 sq.m exposed to the South-West and barely overlooked. The accommodation, simply furnished and functional, with a refined decoration, can ideally welcome 6 persons and offers up to 8 (additional) sleeping arrangements.
The peaceful location, at the heart of the Perigord Noir, makes it an ideal place for lovers of relaxation, hikes (by foot, mountain bike or horse), and heritage discovery of this magnificent region. For those who love water sports, you will be delighted by the recent 10x5m pool, and by the possibilities of canoeing down the Dordogne and Vezere Rivers.
Our sheep folds, located between the gorges of Vezere and the valley of Dordogne, are ideal to discover the Perigord Noir's beauties.
The Vezere valley does not only offer a wild setting, favourable for canoeing, swimming or fishing but is also listed in the Unesco World Heritage for the many prehistoric sites that have been discovered, particularly the Lascaux Caves. As a matter of fact, the Eyzies village, very near, was baptised as the world capital of prehistory.
On the Dordogne side, there are many fortified villages located in the hillsides that are worth the visit, including Limeuil, La Roque Gageac, Beynac, Domme, Castlelnaud, to give the most famous ones. The Dordogne Valley is also advised to lovers of swimming, canoeing and of gabarres (large typical boats). But also to those who would like to discover in hot-air balloon.
The Perigord is also a sunny and green region with hundreds of castles to discover and its character cities such as Sarlat or Bergerac. Of course, mentioning the Perigord Noir is also taking into account its famous gastronomy (foie gras, goose and duck confit, Manchon, Monbazillac wines, Bergerac, Pech Charmant, etc.) and so well represented in regional markets and local restaurants.
