Brilliant stay! Wonderful surroundings. The wildlife around the property was outstanding, Deer, Hares, Badgers and Foxes to be spotted early and late in the day with Owls hooting in the night and no trip was complete down the river without spotting a Kingfisher or 3 .Plenty to see and do along the Dordogne and at the end of the day a cooling dip in the lovely pool.Well worth a stay here, highly recommended and with Ariane as you host you can't go far wrong!
Lovely property with a fantastic pool and sun loungers/parasols and a table tennis table. We really enjoyed our stay at Ariane's place. Ariane was very good at responding to messages, check in was very smooth and she had even, kindly, got in some provisions for us as we arrived on a Sunday when most places were closed. Thank you very much Ariane!
We had a wonderful time at this gite, the location was perfect and having access to the river made even the very hottest days easier. Our hostess was prompt in replying to texts before we arrived and most helpful with recommendations once we were there. There is a lot to do and see in the area and we enjoyed time relaxing at the property too.
We had a lovely stay for a very hot week in August. Arianne was very helpful when we had an issue with the hot water and her English is vastly better than our French! Highlights of the property would be the pool, the location and the amount of space there which I don’t think the photos on the website did justice to!Would totally recommend a stay here.
Excellent host & property- superb location for visiting the local castles & chateaus. Particularly enjoyed the pool which was immaculately maintained by host.
The holiday cottage and its pool are fantastic. The cottage is excellently placed exploring the Dordogne. We will certainly be returning.

A beautiful, peaceful site a short walk away from the river Dordogne; large private setting, excellent amenities, no effort spared by a most gracious host, Madame Ariane de Gerard.
A great time for all ages!
This was pure Dordogne you want to see on a holiday!
The house was authentic. The location was really good close to the attractions Dordogne offers.
The landlady was very nice and friendly, we had a super nice conversation in our best French with her.
We'll certainly come back.
This is a lovely family house with everything you could need. The pool was very welcome as we were there at the height of the "canicule" - otherwise the heat would have been unbearable and we would have had to stay inside! Fans in bedrooms also very welcome. Arianne was very nice to deal with. Property is 10 minutes from Sarlat and various Dordogne attractions.
It's a lovely house - best equipped house we've ever stayed in.
Very clean and owner was so helpful and any problem quickly solved. It's in a wonderful setting surrounded by trees and wildlife.
The pool was a blessing and so clean. What's not to like!!
This was our second stay and we choose to return, because all 5 of us love this house and the surroundings. The weather wasn't great, but the house was cosy and we used the fire-place. Sarlat is at a good distance to do the shopping and sightseeing. We went to Beynac castle this time, went canoeing and walked in the area.
Ariane was lovely and very welcoming.
Our kids have already told us they want to return.
I don’t really want to say how lovely Ariane and her gite are as we won’t be able to book for next year when we want to !
The house is really family friendly(baby/ toddler safe ) / equally you wouldn’t notice if just adults. The best location as so much to do and really comfortable and everything works well and and well maintained.
We booked a year in advance and was our first post covid holiday. The accommodation was in very good condition with everything you needed and plenty of space. Arianne was locals and available but we didn’t need her help as everything was obvious. The pool was the main feature and was very welcome in temperatures of 37c plus. All the family enjoyed the stay and I would definitely recommend. Check in was super quick and Arianne came to say goodbye the night before we left. Overall - excellent accommodation, great location, unobtrusive but welcoming host. Thank you Arianne.

Liked: Communication, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Poor cleanliness
The property could have been cleaner. There was also some exposed electrical wires.
Be fully prepared for mosquitos as the property is near the river there are a lot of them.

We had a wonderful week’s stay. Our gracious host was always available and so very helpful. It was great to have a pool and also the Dordogne at the end of the garden! We like privacy and this place certainly did not disappoint. Centrally located, all the most beautiful attractions are on the door step. We used Brive airport (from Stansted) and hired a car. On return the fuel tank was still nearly full despite using it every day for visits. Everything is so close by. Fans were useful for the hot nights. Closing all indoor and outdoor shutters helps too. The house is very well equipped so expect much of what you have at home. A lovely stay. Thank you!
A great place for a superb holiday. The river with its sandy beach and the large pool are a winning combination for a family holiday. The house is very well equipped, comfortably furnished with good beds and most importantly the windows and shutter systems all work and the ceiling fans mean everyone keeps cool and can sleep in hot weather.
The bedrooms are fine, each with a wardrobe and chair and two have basins in them. They aren’t large but are well equipped, and all open off a small landing. The bathroom is a comfortable size and there is a small separate toilet off the landing too.
Downstairs there is a large shower in a very large and well-equipped laundry room and the toilet off the hallway is useful when coming in from the pool.
The pool is beautiful with an outside shower too. The views are lovely and there is a covered pergola to eat under although we often used the shade of the trees. There is a large very effective coal barbeque and lots of cooking equipment. We missed having a patio area outside the house as the grass was rough, spikey dry and uncomfortable to walk on. It also meant bits were constantly trodden into the house. The only disappointment was not being able to pay for cleaning at the end of the week and with two active small children and having to be out by 10am, that meant a very early start And was hard work before a long day of driving. But we’d do it again to stay in such a lovely holiday home.
We stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2023.
We arrived and Ariane (owner) had been let down by her cleaners so there was a small delay before entering the property. However once we gain entry we were more than happy with the accommodation and facilities.
We were a family of 7- 4,8,9 children, parents and grandparents.
There was lots of pool toys, toys in the house, games books. Ariane has lots of baby items if you need. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of pans and utensils.
It was very hot (35-40C) when we stayed and could have benefitted from some AC but we managed and there are a couple of fans around that we used.
The pool was great and very family friendly with steps into the pool for children to play on. There were sun shades and sun loungers (only 6).
Ariane is a great host and we saw here a couple of times on our stay cleaning the pool and was lovely to speak to her.
The gite has access to the river, which we used to paddle board and swimming the river - although very strong currents so be careful.
Next door is a campsite and we heard no noise from this what so ever. Further down the road in Montfort is a boulangarie (which is 25 mins walk) and also a lovely restuarant we visited twice on our stay.
Vitrac port has canoeing, but we also found a canoe hire just a short distance up river in the campsite just past lassagne (15 mins walk).
Sarlat is 10 - 20 mins away depending on traffic.
Would stay again!!!
