Our family of 12 (6 adults and 6 kids ages 6-16) all loved the rental property. Hosts were very accommodating and communication was great. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Not far at all from fun family attractions. We enjoyed Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, and Mystery Hill to name a few. Had a great dinner at the Daniel Boone Inn/Restaurant. Kitchen is well stocked with plenty of plates, cups, silverware, etc. I definitely recommend this beautiful vacation home! We enjoyed every minute despite having a rainy week!!

Great spot. We were there with a youth group for a planning retreat. The ‘cabin’ was as described and very comfortable - the rocking chairs on the porch were a great place to have morning coffee as the sun came up. The only borough we encountered was with the WiFi. Talking with the surprised & apologetic hosts, the provider was discontinuing service in the area and did so earlier than expected to the new provider had not been set up before we arrived. Except for internet access it was a great stay and we enjoyed it.

Great private and quiet spot!

We stayed here for a family getaway. Really enjoyed the peaceful location. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable for everyone (15 people). They just put in a brand new stove and the grill worked great! We really enjoyed the spacious decks and the hot tub!

We were extremely happy with this beautiful home. Everything was perfectly kept and it was very spacious and comfortable. Quiet and private and only 20 mins to Boone or West Jefferson. Will definitely rent again soon!

Great private retreat in the High Country

We stayed here with four families (7 adults & 8 kids all 12 and under) and had a fantastic long weekend. The mountainside and landscape were exceptionally pristine and well cared for; beautiful streams and views from the large decks. We enjoyed the hot tub quite a bit and just sitting outside basking in the mountain air. It really was a great setup for a large group.

Great mountain getaway!

This property was fantastic! As others have mentioned, the photos do not do it justice! Our family of 10 adults had plenty of room as we gathered for our nephews wedding! Would definitely choose to stay here again. The host, Nixon, was extremely kind and helpful!

Great place to stay

This house is very clean and has a lot of detail. We really enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. The only dray back was there is no view of the mountains. The trees have grown so much you can see anything. with that being said I would still rent this house again and hope to next year when we return.

Annual Christmas tree trip

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this cabin for our annual trip to get our Christmas tree. We had 16 people total and had ample space. The pictures on the listing did not do the cabin justice. We would definitely stay at this place again. Thank you!!

Amazing view!

My family and I had a wonderful time! The property is amazing and our group of 15 were very comfortable. We had a plumbing issue and I texted the owner and the maintenance guy came out right away. After that we had no other concerns just enjoyed our stay! I would recommend this property to whoever wants to be near Boone but high up in the mountains.

Everything was great plan do another trip renting this property again.

Plan to rent again in the future only problem was the grill needs to be replaced. Gas line for grill is melted had to go to Dollar General for a charcoal grill.

Overall a lovely space.

We truly enjoyed this tucked away cabin for our weekend getaway. Would have enjoyed more had there been more AC throughout the very large home. Luckily the evenings were cool enough to open windows. All in all it was the right amount of space to enjoy and kid free weekend amd would have worked just a well if we brought the kids. Pleanty of space!

2024 App State Graduation

Our family stayed here for the Spring 2024 App State graduation. We had plenty of room for all 14 of us! Very comfy. Plenty of towels! Recommendations: information needed on how to run hot tub. Lights needed around hot tub for night relaxation and soaks. More lighting in kitchen for us folks that like to cook

Great retreat!

There was a ton of great space indoors and outdoors for large groups. Watching the sun rise over the mountains from the hot tub is a must. There were plenty of linens towels blankets and towels. The oven did not work very well but the toaster oven was a good back up. The gas grill did not work at all. Overall the house was clean. The carpets are old and stained but overall decor was pleasant.

Beautiful cabin with lots of light, large rooms, enjoyed the game room, the pool table is a little rough, nice having a clean working hot tub. We needed instructions on indoor fireplace and the oven was giving us an error, but we did get them both to work. I needed a slow cooker and a blender and they were not provided. We heard Coyotes, seen a mountain Lion, and deer. All in all we all really enjoyed our stay

Exceeded expectations

I know many have said it already, but the pictures don’t do it justice. This home is huge, we never felt on top of each other and we had a lot of people from toddlers, preteens, teens and adults. Beds were comfortable, place was clean, the location was perfect for a hideout but also close enough to town if needed. We saw deer, it snowed three times, we felt safe and comfortable and the views were spectacular. The only downside was the oven; especially for thanksgiving week. It doesn’t seem to get hot enough and things take much longer than you’d expect. Thankfully we packed slow cookers and air fryers as well - and deep fried our turkey outside :-) You can’t go wrong booking a stay here!

Very private, and large for a family gathering. Close to Broone, NC, and river tubing that my family did. Home wasn’t the cleanest, and a musty smell. I did leave a tip for the housekeeper. Basement bedroom was nice, but had slugs. I thought the oven would be fix from past reviews. It still works, but on the sluggish side. We loved the neighbor dog paid us a visit. A very nice and friendly dog. Wood pit was great! Landscaping beautiful, and kids having a good time playing pool and ping pong.

Incredible!

I don’t even know where to start. The pictures do NOT do this cabin justice. This place is magical! We had 6 adults and 8 children. The property was perfect for all of us. The yard was great for our Easter egg hunt, plenty of room for the kiddos and adults to explore. Tommy the person who delivers wood is also a great source of information. He has lived in Todd for 63 years. The “neighbors” also have a dog named Boone who would come visit occasionally. We all loved that. Cascade Lane is situated in the middle of pretty much everything. Boone and West Jefferson are only a short 27 minute drive away. I would stay here 1000 more times!!

The cabin accommodated our extended family of 16 very well for Thanksgiving. Everybody liked the house. We found the layout excellent for the different groups in our family, with common spaces large enough for everyone to be together and secluded spaces for occasional needed quiet. The game room was good (even if the pool table and ping pong tables were beat up). Several enjoyed the hot tub. Others enjoyed exploring the surrounding mountains. Inconveniences were 1) internet was not strong at all and most had trouble connecting. 2)None of the TV remotes worked. We could connect to the Dish, but could not stream. With the weak internet, we probably could not have streamed anyway. 3)The oven would not heat above 350 degrees. It took an extra hour to bake our Thanksgiving casseroles. 4)The entry lock battery was almost dead when we arrived and we almost didn't get in. We did change the battery. 5)The property manager did not respond to my call and text during the week before we arrived when I had some questions.

Beautiful Home, Great weekend except for the smell of gas!!

House is beautiful, and very well stocked for linens and plates. The house instructions are a little lacking and Wi-Fi had no internet most of the time which became a big issue when the slight smell of gas we had been noticing all weekend got stronger. The pilot light in the unoccupied basement heater went out and when we tried to go to bed around 11pm the smell was overpowering. With no phone number to contact the owner and no internet we had to rely on spotty cell service to get a message out on the VRBO app. The owner texted back, asking us to light the pilot with the strong smell of gas. We declined (as there were no clear instructions and the unit shut-off didn't turn easily) and called the Todd Volunteer Fire Department. The FD was fantastic and agreed with our decision, found the main shut-off outside, and turned the gas off at each appliance in the house. We were told to stay up and leave all doors open until around 1am and then to sleep with the windows and sliding glass doors open as well just in case. Gas company should be checking all appliances and hopefully the beautiful home will be less of a headache (literally) for your group.
