COPAKE LAKEHOUSE - SUMMER RENTALS AVAILABLE. 3 night minimum from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
A unique, magical, two dwelling property on Copake Lake with waterfront access, outstanding views of the lake, mountains, and sunsets.
The Main house is a 1950’s cottage that was lovingly and professionally renovated a few years ago. Decorated in an elegant, modern, and idiosyncratic country style. New mechanicals throughout, yet all the charm of the original cottage. The cottage is comprised of three main spaces … a master bedroom with a full private bathroom, a kitchen/dining area which opens onto the light-filled living room facing the lake, and a bunkroom with two pairs of built in bunkbeds. A second bathroom is off of the living room and there is a loft space above with great light and views to the lake. Three pairs of French doors open up the West wall of the living room to a large wood deck, with wrap-around seating, overlooking the lake
The Guest house was built in the early ’80’s and is built into the lakefront bluff which lends it a treehouse like quality. It has recently been converted to have a full floor guest bedroom with a full, private bathroom as well as a laundry room the floor below. The bedroom is a self-sufficient, light-filled room with a dresser, closet, coffee niche, under-counter refrigerator, electric kettle, plates, utensils, cutting board, and glassware. In the warmer months there is also a French cafe’ table and two chairs for the deck in front of the French doors. Perfect for the in-laws, newlyweds, late sleepers, introverts, or reclusive writers. It’s a vacation within a vacation when you sleep in the guest house.
Combined, the property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and can sleep up to a maximum of 8 adults, in beds, comfortably. (please see rates for applicable fees)
The house is only a short 20-minute drive in either direction to two of the most charming towns in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. The town of Hudson, to the West, has many antique shops, restaurants, and bars and is situated right along the Hudson River. Great Barrington, to the East, is just over the Massachusetts border, is great for families ... there is a movie theater, two toy stores, and one of the largest candy stores around. Fine and casual dining is possible in both towns and along the roads between here and there.
The perfect four season vacation home ... always a way to relax or find adventure all year long.
Winter - Ice skating on the lake, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice-fishing are all possible right on Copake Lake when it freezes over around the beginning of January each winter. Skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are 15-30 minutes away, respectively, at nearby Catamount Ski Area or Ski Butternut.
Spring/Summer – Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing in the clean and clear freshwater lake. The lake’s health is carefully monitored and maintained by the Copake Lake Conservation Society. Contact Copake Lake Boat and Ski for rates and availability of pontoon boats, water skiing, or wake boarding.
Autumn – Possibly the most beautiful time of year with colorful foliage and moderate temperatures … perfect for hiking at Bash Bish Falls and biking for miles on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. Bike rentals are available at Bash Bish Bicycle.
Aside from all the sports and outdoor activities there are many ways to do nothing at all and simply enjoy relaxing in nature or a cozy spot inside. There is a hammock, Adirondack chairs, a built in 14' slide for kids (and adults), picnic table and benches, canvas folding chairs, a swim platform, upper decks, lower decks, and a dock all situated with spectacular views of the water and as much shade or sun as you like.
For those of you that love outdoor cooking there is a Weber gas grill and a Weber kettle charcoal grill, as well as a smoker for making some real, low and slow smokey barbecue.
Whether it's a weekend getaway for the family, just the two of you, a small family reunion, or a group of friends on a ski or hiking trip ... you'll have the most memorable time here.
3-night minimum for all holiday weekends. 7-night minimum during the Dec holiday season. 7-night minimum Memorial day through Labor day each summer (Currently accepting 3-day rentals for July/August 2025).
