About this property
Lake Log Cottage, Green Grass, Great Views
The Guinea Nest is a beautiful log home on a wooded lot with big water views, ideal for a family vacation, weekend getaway, or a fishing trip. A large, partially covered deck overlooks the spacious lawn, waterfront, dock, and two to five miles of Lake Murray's gorgeous open water. The deck also has a picnic table as well as a smaller table and chairs to enjoy an outdoor lunch or moonlight dinner. There is plenty of additional seating if you want to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the day.
An indoor wood-burning fireplace makes for a cozy setting when the weather is chilly. An outdoor fire pit at the water's edge is another option to enjoy a mild or cool evening.
The dock includes a bench for seating, umbrellas and plenty of area to sunbathe, two sets of stairs for easy access to and from the water for swimming, and water deep enough to handle your motorboat. There is a two-person canoe with paddles and two paddle boards for your enjoyment.
Our home is on the quiet side of the lake with minimal boat traffic and only a few neighbors. It has a southern view which means no blinding afternoon sun.
Only 45 minutes from Columbia and the University of South Carolina, 50 minutes from Fort Jackson and 60 minutes from Augusta National Golf Club (home of the Masters Tournament), the Guinea Nest is perfect for a graduation celebration, USC sports, or trip to the Masters. We’re also just 3 miles from Southern Oaks event center and a 20 minute boat ride to Dreher Island state park.
Yes, we are dog friendly (fee required) Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out is 10:00 AM. However, if no one is checking out or in on the days you arrive or depart, these times might be flexible.
"Clearly, the energy of love and family is strong and powerful here. We all felt it immediately upon entering the house." - This comment from a guest in a hand-written note exemplifies how we feel about the Guinea Nest and hope you will too.
Note: should cancellation occur, I will offset any forfeiture if we are able to book another guest.

Great communicative host. Location on lake is central to any needs. Close boat ramp and safe dock to leave your boat in the water. I will book the location again without hesitation.
Our stay at Guinea Nest was very nice. Lake frontage was great! Covered porch looking out at the lake was beautiful. House was spacious, clean and well equipped. Would stay here again!!!
What an incredible place! The history and origin of the cabin is fascinating. The furniture, beds, linens, dishes, pots and pans were ideal. The location of the house on the lake is so nice, being in a cove with easy access to deep water and the main thoroughfare. We enjoyed our time on the dock fishing and spending time with family catching up on the lake-facing porch. Lastly, my communication and interaction with Bruce was timely and gracious. I highly recommend this home and I’m hopeful we will be able to return soon.
The property was perfect for our families! Bruce was fantastic at responding. Make sure to check the lake level, the sand boxes were not close to the water at all due to the low water level. The dock is getting old, the pictures are from when it was first built.
Perfect location for a family vacation or small reunion Maybe a girls weekend. We were there for my sister's birthday. Her children joined us and a grandson. We enjoyed sitting by the fire pit sharing stories of the past. We brought our 2 mini daschunds who had a blast in all the free space. Some enjoyed the paddle boards and grandson brought his fishing boat. Hope to make it an annual event!
This is the second time we have rented this house and it was as great as the first. The house is great for a family and the fireplace was perfect for the cold December days.
Our parents purchased this property in 1961 so our family would have a vacation home to enjoy. We have many great memories as children here and have now made more memories with our own children and with our grandchildren.
The Guinea Nest was originally just a shack and a one-room, hand made log cabin. In 2007, we razed the old structures and built this new and updated log cabin so our families would have plenty of room to continue to grow together.
Why they chose this property
A great place to relax and play.
