About this property
Remodeled 1858 Historic downtown home that was once part of the Alamo RanchLand.
LOCATION The San Antonio RiverWalk is aglow with Christmas. Come experience this wonderland. It is truly magical. Our family-friendly private home is only four blocks from the sparkling lights and green pathways of the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Start your morning with coffee on the front porch or enjoy a glass of wine for a relaxing evening in the backyard garden. Gated parking is included. Other downtown area attractions includesTobin Center, The Majestic, Convention Center, Scottish Rite Building, and the Alamodome. The Pearl district (an amazing bevy of walkable stores, restaurants, and entertainment) is within a short drive. Maybe....even be brave and reserve a ghost tour. This historic family-friendly private home includes free gated parking. Other area attractions in close proximity include the San Antonio Riverwalk, Scottish Rite Center, Tobin Center, The Majestic Theater, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Sunset Station, Hemisfair Plaza, and the Alamodome.
HISTORY Known as the Engelmann-Muench House, this cottage was built in 1858 by Martin Engelmann, a wealthy German immigrant. The caliche block vernacular double house sits on a site which was once part of the Alamo farmlands. The structure is a good example of a once-common San Antonio house type and features original built-in end chimneys.
If you explore the neighborhood, you will find a new bar scene developing with Road Map Brewery, La Roca, Bentley's, and more. Of course, restaurants and food trucks are in close walking distance on North Alamo, Houston St and the Riverwalk. Made Ready and Idlewild Hall are our newest food/drink stops to try as well. Don't forget to sign up for a ghost tour. There are several options from which to choose....Sisters Grimm is my favorite.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay here. The host provides clear instructions and communication is excellent. The location is ideal for easy access to downtown, and we really appreciated the beautifully landscaped backyard and inviting front porch. It’s also a treat to stay at a historical site. House is clean and fully equipped for short or long stays. The free, gated parking is a huge bonus, and the EV charger is a great added convenience for those that need it. We would definitely stay again!
Great place that was very good and unique! It was great to have extra space and in an historic place. Good location and as other people have said a bit isolated but walkable to the Alamo and Riverwalk! Everything we needed was provided! Note that the street was busier and louder than I thought it would be. Overall, great value, location and place!
We had a great time at this property. The location made it easy to walk all over downtown, which is a must have for my family. The small yard was perfect for our son to throw the football and it had ample seating if we decided to eat out back.

Thank you. You are always welcome to stay at StoneHaus.
Great space for access to Downtown venues and far away places. Host left very nice touches such as firewood and wine. If youwant access to Downtown and candeal with being Downtown then this spot is great l.
Historic home within walking distance of the Alamo and Riverwalk. Very nice small yard and patio, very comfortable. Access controlled parking. Overall a very nice experience!
It's a unique place. I have rented dozens of VRBO rentals. This one is different given its history but it's a perfect place to stay if you want a few days or a week to visit San antonio. You can easily walk to virtually everything the downtown San Antonio offers to include hemisphere Plaza the Riverwalk etc. In the meantime you're staying in history. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings with a glass of wine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for couples or a small family. Within a short walk there is some place to get a morning coffee that doubles as a microbrewery if you enjoy having a beer in the afternoon. ( or in the morning as they offer that also. Lol.)

Great home in a great location
The House was great and less than 10 minute walk to the Alamo. We loved our stay and had a very minor hiccup which Mona came to personally resolve. Loved our stay and highly recommend it.

Unique little place, very private and quiet… Frankly, I was concerned about it being in an industrial area, but we absolutely loved it and it was secure and perfect for our family for a few days while visiting San Antonio!
Had a lovely stay in SA. Loved the uniqueness and history of the home. Very clean and with all necessary amenities. Beds could use new mattresses, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely home in central location
This was a perfect place for a weekend stay in San Antonio. Walking distance to many of the hot spots and a lovely design with everything you need. One note is you do access the second bedroom through the first so perfect for a child or family member.
