Casa Rambaldo is an independent holiday home for up to 4 guests, with a private, fully fenced garden, located within a historic castle, in the heart of one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.

This charming 85 m² stone house was once the residence of medieval guards and has since been transformed into a quiet and comfortable retreat.

Carefully restored in 2012 with great respect for the original materials and proportions, the house features terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams, and a warm, authentic atmosphere—ideal for guests who appreciate genuine historic places and tranquility.

Casa Rambaldo is located in the historic centre of Strassoldo, one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), a small, authentic village that is still very much lived in.

The historic centre consists of two contemporaneous fortified complexes: the Castello di Strassoldo di Sopra, owned by our family for over one thousand years, and the Castello di Strassoldo di Sotto, belonging to our relatives.

This property is fabulous.Full of character and incredibly peaceful and comfortable. It is so well equipped and makes you feel at home immediately. The garden is also a lovely place to relax. The Barbagianni Osterea and Trattoria Fricheria and brilliant and a quick walk away. I will be reccomending all of this to friends and family.

We enjoyed our stay in Strassoldo very much. We had a heartly welcome from Nidia. There s a wonderful park and everything is made with love to details. The appartement is very cosy and you can sleep perfectly in the beds. Its a perfect spot to relax, visit to the nearby sightseeings or to venice (1h trip). For our young dog it was a paradise. Urlaub im Castello

Unser Feriendomizil im Castello von Strassoldo war traumhaft. Die Lage, der Park, die Ruhe, alles hat zu einem entspannten Urlaub beigetragen. Die Gastgeberinnen Gabriella und Nidia waren unglaublich hilfsbereit und herzlich. Mittel zur Abwehr der zahlreich vorkommenden Mücken finden sich im Haus und sollten benutzt werden. Ein rundum schöner Ort und ein toller Ausgangspunkt für Touren, um das Friaul zu entdecken. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr nettes Appartment, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, echte Wohlfühlatmosphäre. Die Küche hat alles, was man braucht, das Bad ist großzügig, die Dusche wirklich schön gestaltet. Die Park-ähnliche Anlage und die Burg sind ein tolles Ambiente. Die Lage ist sehr gut, ein Weingut mit hervorragenden Weinen um die Ecke, ebenso eine Bar und ein Bistro; der kleine Supermarkt ist in zwei Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Check-in war sehr herzlich und völlig problemlos (schnelle Reaktion auf meinen Anruf), wir fühlten uns willkommen, Gabriella hat uns mit vielen Informationen versorgt.Kleine Nachteile: es hat wirklich viele Stechmücken (aber das hatten wir in den vorherigen Rezensionen gelesen), das Appartment (Casa Rambaldo) ist dasjenige, das der Strasse am nächsten liegt und man hört den Verkehr schon.

Schöner, erholsamer Urlaub

Kommunikation mit Gabriella war sehr gut, vor Ort war Nidia sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit, spricht allerdings nur italienisch. Die Unterkunft war für uns super, sie ist urig und innen recht dunkel. Wir waren aber dank des guten Wetters fast immer draußen. Die Wohnung selbst ist top ausgestattet, uns hat es an nichts gefehlt, und falls doch etwas nicht gepasst hat, war Nidia sofort da.

Familienurlaub mit Hund

Wir haben noch nie zuvor so rustikal-romantisch gewohnt. So ein altes Steinhaus (liebevoll hergerichtet) ist einfach nicht zu toppen! Dazu gibt es für jede Ferienwohnung einen eigenen eingezäunten Garten! Unser Hund hatte auch Urlaub von Leine und Geschirr und konnte mal ganz frei im Garten stöbern! Einfach klasse! Wir wurden auch sehr liebevoll empfangen und betreut! Nidia spricht zwar nur italienisch (im Gegensatz zu uns).....aber mit Händen und Füßen hat die Kommunikation doch ganz gut geklappt. Sie hat öfter mal nachgefragt, ob alles gut sei und wir was brauchen.....sie hat uns auch ein frisch gebackenes Brot (noch warm) gebracht, welches sehr lecker war. Auch ist Gabriella, die übrigens hervorragend Deutsch spricht, jederzeit über WhatsApp oder telefonisch erreichbar. Alles in allem ein hervorragender Urlaub! Wir finden, diese Unterkunft ist absolut empfehlenswert! Volle Punktzahl!

Wunderbarer Aufenthalt

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in einem super Haus in der Burg von unserer sehr liebevollen, immer hilfsbereiten Gastgeberin Gabriella. Von ihr gabs schon Tips vor der Reise und tolle Empfehlungen zu Restaurants und ein sehr herzlicher Empfang mit Begrüßungsgetränk (zusammen mit Nidia) :-). Danke dafür. Das Haus hatte alles was man braucht, toller Garten und schöne Anlage, man konnte sich sogar im vorbeifließenden kleinen Fluss abkühlen. TOP Empfehlung für einen Aufenthalt im Friaul. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ferienhaus mit Charme

Das sehr schön eingerichtete Ferienhaus mit einem Garten, ist Teil einer alten Schlossanlage. Die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen und die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war hervoragend. Eine tolle Unterkunft

Besonders die Lage als Teil der Anlage in Strassoldo ist toll. Für uns war es der "Endpunkt" unser Alpe Adria Radreise und wir konnten hier noch eine Woche hervorragend entspannen. Es war auch ideal für unseren Hund. Die Gartenanlage ist fantastisch.

Verwunschen

Es braucht nicht viele Worte, um das Schloss Strassoldo und seinen Park zu beschreiben: Es ist ein verwunschener, romantischer Ort! Der dschungelgrüne, von Bächen umflossene Park wirkt wie aus dem Märchen! Es war bestimmt der schönste Ort, an dem wir je wohnen durften! Alles ist sauber und gepflegt. Das Ferienhaus geschmackvoll mit antiken Möbeln bestückt. Wir würden herzlich von der Verwalterin Nidia empfangen. Es spielt keine Rolle, dass sie nur italienisch spricht - sie versteht auch so, was die Gäste brauchen. Die Besitzerin ist über WhatsApp immer erreichbar und frägt auch sehr herzlich nach, ob alles passt. Strassoldo liegt zentral in einer sehr schönen, grünen Gegend. Von hier aus kann man klassisch zum Baden ans Meer fahren, aber auch Städte besichtigen, die Lagunen oder das Hinterland mit seinen schönen Weinbergen und kleinen Orten erkunden. Im Dorf kann man zu Fuß zum Einkaufen, in die Bar oder zum Essen gehen. Auch unser Hund hatte einen guten Urlaub: Der Zaun rund um den Ferienhausgarten ist geschlossen, im Garten steht ein sehr großer, schöner Baum, der Schatten spendet - das Haus ist kühl und ruhig. Im Schloss-Bereich leben mehrere Hunde, von den Besitzern und auch Gästen, aber man stört sich nicht gegenseitig. Wir hatten einen wirklich schönen Urlaub!

Wunderschön und sehr erholsam

Wir haben im Castello Strassoldo die ehemalige Reismühle bewohnt. Das Haus war sehr schön eingerichtet, sauber und hatte eine Klimaanlage. Es gibt einen direkten Zugang zum privaten Schlossgarten mit Sitzgelegenheiten und Liegestühlen. Hier konnten wir wunderbar entspannen. Nidia hat uns sehr nett empfangen und Gabrielle stand uns auch immer mit nützlichen Informationen zur Seite. Man kann in dieser Gegend viel unternehmen, z. B. Ausflüge nach Udine und Triest, baden am Strand von Grado oder auch zum Wandern nach Slowenien fahren. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Unterkunft ist absolut weiterzuempfehlen.

Kurzurlaub mit Hundi

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt. Besonders gut hat uns der tolle Garten gefallen. Unsere Hunde haben es auch sehr genossen. Es gibt einen kleinen aber feinen Supermarkt ums eck. Das Apartment ist schön ausgestattet und auch sehr gemütlich. Es gibt auch eine Klimaanlage. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Leider ist die Gegend aber eher für Autos gebaut worden. Es gibt kaum Gehsteige und es ist in der Nacht sehr gefährlich da die Autos rasen und sich nicht an Tempolimitis halten. Daher zum spazieren eher ungeeignet.

Super Unterkunft, keine gute Gegend für Hunde

Wir haben die Unterkunft in erster Linie gebucht, weil wir mit unseren 3 Hunden Urlaub machen wollten. Das war im Hinblick auf die Unterkunft auch überhaupt kein Problem (großer eingezäunter Garten). Aber außerhalb der Schlossanlage wird man praktisch überall umgehend verscheucht wie ein Aussätziger. Alles in italienisch, kein Mensch spricht in dieser Gegend englisch oder gar deutsch. Aber der Tonfall ließ nie Zweifel am Ausmaß der Unfreundlichkeit. Auch innerhalb der Schlossanlage gab es Probleme. Diese hat nämlich zwei Eigentümer, die hundefreundliche Vermieterin und eine ebenfalls abweisende Aristokratin. Leider erfährt man nicht, wo die Grenzen verlaufen. Die Unterkunft selbst ist uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen! Der Empfang war freundlich mit selbstgebackenem Brot und Aperitif. Leider spricht die Ansprechpartnerin ebenfalls ausschließlich italienisch.

Wunderbarer Ort zum Entspannen

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im Friaul und im Castello Strassoldo. Die Wohnung liegt in einer wunderschönen historischen Anlage mit einem schönen Garten zum Entspannen. Am Anreisetag wurden wir herzlich von Nidia begrüßt und während des Aufenthalt half sie gerne, trotz Sprachbarrieren (wir konnten kein italienisch und sie kein deutsch). Die Wohnung ist überaus gemütlich und stilvoll eingerichtet. Die Küche ist modern und technisch gut ausgestattet. Lediglich die Anzahl von Geschirr und Besteck könnte umfangreicher sein. Bei der gegenwärtigen Anzahl lohnt sich der Einsatz der Geschirrspülmaschine nicht. 😉 Auf jeden Fall hat es uns so gut gefallen, dass wir wiederkommen werden. Herzlichen Dank!! Marcus und Ingrid

The castle of Strassoldo represents the heart of my life. Since childhood, when I lived abroad and came here on holiday to visit my grandparents, this magical place has fascinated me. Over the years, that childlike enchantment transformed into a deep sense of responsibility towards this millennial heritage.

When I began the restoration journey, many buildings in the complex were complete ruins - the rice-husking mill, the tower, the men-at-arms houses, the vicinia, the new kitchen. I even decided to buy back the chancellery, which had been sold by my grandfather, not because I needed more roofs to restore, but to preserve the historic integrity of the complex which risked being turned into a beer hall.

I often hear people tell me how lucky I am to live in a castle. I smile and reply that the real fortune was having the determination to save it. It has been relentless work, often going against the tide and without external support, but the passion for this place - and perhaps the positive spirit of my ancestors that lingers in the air - have given me the strength to persevere.

I have always insisted on philologically correct restorations, using natural materials and traditional techniques. My vision has been to preserve the authentic soul of the castle, not to create an artificial version. Every restored building tells a story of dedication and respect for history.

Today, seeing guests appreciate this authenticity and breathe in the castle's atmosphere is my greatest satisfaction. Your stay here helps keep this extraordinary historical heritage alive for future generations.
