About this property

Whetstone Pond Cottage on the Lake

Whetstone Pond Cottage on the Lake is a two story, two bedroom lakeside retreat with a 3rd bonus bedroom on the large screened in porch. It is located on picturesque Whetstone Pond, twenty minutes south of Moosehead Lake. The area abounds with the natural beauty of mountains, woods, lakes, and streams.
Whetstone Pond lies adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, so hiking in the area is
legendary, while walking and biking are very good as well. The cottage is directly on the water and has a large private dock for sunning, swimming, boating, bird watching, or simply gazing at the views of Russell mountain across the lake . The swimming temperature is ideal and the water is clean and fresh.
Stargazing is awesome!
The cottage is charmingly furnished with Maine country
antiques and the kitchen is fully equipped. There is one canoe
and there are two kayaks for your boating expeditions. Look for loons, beaver,
and moose! Bring your fishing rod or favorite book and find out
what real relaxation is all about!
Or: for a change of pace, take a leisurely drive to Moosehead
Lake, the largest lake in Maine. You will find the restaurants,
the shops, and the museums you may also wish to experience!
Something to know about GPS directions for the cottage is that they are not correct, not quite. We are #26 Alder Lane, Blanchard Maine 04406, the middle home on Alder Lane, lake side. I find that putting in #25 Alder Lane works at the moment.

About the host

Hosted by Karen Stevens

Host profile image
Owners Karen and Tom have taken the same 3 weeks in July in their cottage for over 30 years and have given their own 2 sons wonderful Maine summers. While there, they make improvements and work on gardens and maintenance. Tom reads a lot and Karen paints and writes songs. There is much socializing with family and neighbors, and it is always a wonderful, old fashioned time!
