Old Gulf Coast Experience! Peaceful waterfront getaway in Bon Secour, AL
This unit is located in Bon Secour Cottages in the quaint community of Bon Secour. Only 15 minutes from the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast yet worlds away in ambiance. Located on Bon Secour River where it flows into Bon Secour Bay. Cottage 6 is a one bedroom /one bath unit that sleeps 2. The open concept living, dining, and kitchen area is bright and cheerful. Unit has full kitchen. Bon Secour Cottages was a former fish camp with 10 units that has been converted into a condominium. This is close to the beach (about 10-15 minutes, 18-20 in summer) but a world away from the traffic and high rises of the coast. As you pull into the driveway, passing under the moss draped live oak you will feel a sense of serenity and peace. Bon Secour has long been famous for shrimp, oysters, and other seafood. You can take your early morning coffee (unit has a Keurig and drip brewer) and sit on the deep water pier and watch the shrimp boats come and go, perhaps you will even catch a sight of the dolphins as they travel up river in search of food. Fishing from the pier requires a saltwater permit, available by the week for only $10 at various locations around Foley or Gulf Shores. Great dining is nearby at the Tin Top, The Galley, and Fresco, but if you prefer to eat in there are two excellent seafood markets in easy walking distance. This is a boater's dream location, with miles of navigatable waterways. There is a boat ramp at both Aquila's and Billy's Seafood and room to tie up in your private boar slip at the pier. It is easy to access the intercostal canal, Mobile Bay, and even the Gulf. The new Tin Top location can be reached by a quick boat trip upriver. Some restaurants have boat access from the canal so you can have a great day on the water. Bon Secour is home to the oldest homes in Baldwin County, found right here on River road. The nearby Swift-Coles house is open for tours on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you choose to walk to Billy's Seafood you will see a marker telling about the Saltworks that were located here until Union soldiers destroyed them. If you are interested in history take a half a day and visit Fort Morgan and learn about early Gulf Coast life and the Battle of Mobile Bay. The fort is about 36 miles away on Fort Morgan peninsula.

We defintely will stay here again. Great place with a fishing dock to fish,or watch the dolphins.Quite and peaceful. Many places to shop and eat close by,and within 15minutes to the beach.
We had a great time again at the Bon Secour Cottages. The unit was clean, with a ton of provided cooking equipment and beach toys. Everything was lovely!
We enjoyed everything and the house was the perfect size! The pier was so beautiful and we caught some fish! Only thing i would say is the bedroom needs a window unit or some kind of airflow but we'd for sure stay again!
This cottage was a great find for the price—rustic but very clean and comfortable. It felt like home, with a fully stocked kitchen and a spotless bathroom and bedroom. The house may be older, but the owner has thoughtfully included everything you need. Loved ending the night on the patio and walking to the dock each morning. Peaceful, cozy, and a perfect getaway spot.
W2 were hoping that the back deck would have been screened in, TV set up is very complicated, location is great everyone around us was very friendly and helpful
Great food at TinTop
We enjoyed our week at the cabin. Fishing off the dock and fresh seafood. Reasonably close to beaches and trails. The cabin was cozy and had most everything we needed.
Cute little cottage tucked away in a true southern fishing village. Small, but plenty of room for my husband and myself. Recently renovated, great back deck! Minutes away to enjoy the beaches at Gulf Shores without having to hassle with the crowds and traffic.
It’s small but me and my kid loved it! It was close to everything but far enough away from everything. Tin Top was a mile away with great food. A market close by that had good food on the go. I’d definitely recommend for the price.
Peaceful, relaxing getaway, close enough to the beach to eat wonderful seafood without all the crowds and noise. Everything we needed was provided down to the coffee maker and comfortable chairs on the back deck and a griddle on the gas range. The pier is lighted and covered with benches and a swing.
Perfect place for reminder of one time fishing village and quiet activity on the river. Rustic cottage was perfect for our needs. Owner was accessible and neighbors very friendly. Would possibly return here in the future.
Everything was perfect except we almost had a quarell with a neighbor over parking. She was extremely rude.

Little blue cottage
We've stayed in the Bon Secour cottages before and absolutely love the location to everything and the fishing dock. This cottage was just the perfect size for me and my husband. Love the kitchen and bathroom but feel the living room and bedroom could use some updating. But we would stay again!
Nice little cabin with it own pier. The host has been doing a great job updating it. The price was great and we were very pleased with our stay.
We caught a ton of catfish and saw dolphins from the pier.
The cabin is only a few miles from shopping and restaurants but far enough away that it's very serene and quiet.
We had an awesome lunch at Tin Top Restaurant just down the rode. Close to two seafood markets and their prices are very reasonable.

Why they chose this property
There are very few places with the ambiance of Bon Secour Cottages. While very convenient to the beaches, BSC is a very laid back, peaceful place. Early morning coffee on the pier is a perfect start to the day. You can walk or bike to the seafood market for some steamed shrimp or fresh seafood. Or perhaps you would prefer to catch you own from the pier. You can use the beach chairs and umbrella to enjoy a day at the beach and then return to the peace of Bon Secour. Go for lunch at Jesse's in nearby Magnolia Springs and then go for a walk or bike ride around that delightful village.
