This cottage is the perfect Bend location for activities, foodies, craft beer lovers, or just quiet respite. You can choose to visit as many of the attractions that Central Oregon is famous for or just soak in the peace and quiet of the location. The cottage is truly in the heart of Bend! Inquire now through VRBO/ homeaway The best of our town is nearby, as you can walk to Historic Downtown, the Deschutes River, Drake Park or the Old Mill. The coolest new places are a short walk away! All the Box Factory restaurants and shops, Podski, McMenamins and the fabulous Market of Choice are all in the neighborhood. Proximity of our cottage to 'Boneyard Brewery' born in the neighborhood has relocated yet so much great history abounds in the very nearby. Be sure to visit the Deschutes Historical Museum in the historic Reid School 3 minutes away. The Bend westside is just a 10 minute walk away over the foot bridge through the famous Drake Park; or via Galveston bridge to breweries and parks and groceries at Newport Market. Inside the cottage there are two well furnished bedrooms. One with a queen bed and the other with a full/double bed. Luxurious high thread count pure cotton linens, fluffy towels, cozy quilts (down and down alternative) in the winter. The queen also has a mattress heater; so welcome on cold nights! Comfortable 'vintage eclectic chic' decor. Check out the antique quilts decorating the walls of the bedroom. Cozy gas fireplace in winter for that lovely warming radiant heat. Claw foot tub/shower in the bath with a step stool for easier access. (There are no 'grab bars' so you must have good balance to navigate your getting into and out of the tub. Any damage to the towel racks misused as 'grab bars' will be charged.) Our kitchen is complete with all you need to create your own meals including a quiet stainless steel interior dishwasher, and garbage disposal. The vintage electric range is still working great with the large coil burners. Seasonings and pantry staples are also on the shelf to help the chef. And Market of Choice is soooo close! So many choices!!! There is even a small dining nook. Bedrooms have darkening curtains in case you want to sleep in or nap. The beds have all cotton sheets and a variety of pillows and quilts to suit your needs. The enclosed front porch is also a nice place to hang out. Shade and sun in the lovely, quiet fenced yard. Lots of parking in back, off the South facing alley access. Meditate here; no distractions, the street is that quiet. The internet is DSL, provided by Century Link, and our upload speed may not be sufficient for content creators. The signal is often 'buried' from having the cottage vacant for months at a time and needs to be restarted when first moving in. A flat screen TV is mounted in the living room which receives local affiliates of CBS, ABC, and NBC as well as PBS (4 stations) and a few others. Small iPod/iPhone doc radio. Bend is so great all year around! Check our accommodations for a winter visit. Stay in our cottage and you are in the heart of it all!

Lorlee and Thomas were great communicators and their cottage is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Everything worked great, and it was so nice to be such a short walk to downtown Bend and all of it's happenings!! Highly recommend.

Loved it
Clean and very well appointed cottage. The kitchen had everything you need, cabinets even stocked with spices, condiments and chips and salsa. Very thoughtful touches like fresh flowers in the living room and a bottle of wine in the fridge, even a little sewing kit in one of the bedroom dressers. The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance to downtown. I highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for the nice review! We appreciate you noticing all the details we try to have there for guests. Please come visit us again.
The DSL internet works about 20% of the time, which the hosts will deny. They threatened to start charging me hourly for their response time if I didn’t stop reporting the problems. I gave up and went to the library for reliable service.
Loralee is a bully without any accountability, so don’t engage with her at all, but Tom is lovely.
One bed has a pathetic 3” green foam pad that makes it unbearable to sleep on for any longer than a few nights.
Otherwise the pictures are accurate, and the air conditioner works well for those hot summer days.
I do the homeshare thing a lot and have done it multiple times here in Bend while visiting family in the area. I've done well here, but this place is the tops. If anything the owners have modestly undersold the perfection of this location (5-minute walk into downtown, but far enough away for blissful peace & quiet). and have included as they say all the comforts of home. If you can stay here, do yourself a favor... do it!
This is the perfect place to stay. Centrally located on a quiet street, the cottage is within easy walking distance of the grocery store, restaurants, and Drake Park. We stayed a month and wished we could have stayed longer. The owners make a point to welcome all guests. We arrived to fresh roses in the living room and supplies in the kitchen for making a quick pasta supper, including wine. They even brought over a BBQ and briquettes and brought out lawn chairs from the garage for our use.

Clean, cozy and great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We loved being able to walk downtown, to the Old Mill district, the river, parks, breweries and the grocery store. The home is comfortable, homey and has everything you need. The host were friendly, accommodating and very easy to communicate with. We give this cozy home tumbs up and recommend it. We look forward to coming again!

Perfect for our weekend getaway!
The cottage was in a great location for our girls weekend away. The neighborhood was quiet and we walked everywhere. The cottage was charming, immaculate, and supplied with everything we needed and more! The hosts were helpful and always quick to respond. We enjoyed dining at the Jackalope Grill, McMenamins, and Parilla. The outdoor recreation can't be beat and we made good use of all the hiking/running trails along the river. I highly recommend this rental and will definitely return!

Perfect location in Bend
We had a great family vacation at this cozy house. The location is in a quiet neighborhood but easy walking distance to the river and downtown eateries. Hosts made us feel very welcome as we found snacks and cold drinks upon our arrival (even a delicious watermelon in the fridge). The kitchen is well stocked with housewares and spices. The porch was our favorite place to play cards and visit. Overall a lovely experience!

Loved our stay!
This was priced just right for a two-bedroom home with a full kitchen. The house was clean and cozy! The host put out snacks and fresh flowers for us! The one bedroom had a Temperpedic mattress - I was in heaven! It was quaint and perfect for our stay. The water pressure and temperature made for a great shower. The linens were fresh, the parking was convenient. The neighborhood scared me for a moment as we entered but then we got to the house and realized the location was perfect! The hosts were friendly, accommodating and very understanding when I locked us out of the house one evening. Don't close the kitchen door without keys in your hand :). Totally my fault!

Cozy Cottage away from home!
What a great find!
This cute and well appointed little cottage was the perfect get-away. A quiet escape from the hustle-bustle of everyday life back home. Not only is this home warm and cozy, it is perfectly situated in one of Oregon's finest outdoor meccas, Bend.
Within easy walking distance of Bend's charming downtown with it's outstanding food and beverage options, one can safely indulge in all this great town has to offer without concern for a designated driver.
On my stay we visited Bend's "Stihl Whiskey Bar" for a drink and ended up staying for a fantastic dinner. A great surprise.
If you're a coffee drinker, an early morning walk will leave you charmed and delighted by the nearby "Thump Coffee".
Just a short drive away (or spirited walk) the "Victorian Cafe" was breakfast perfection and it shouldn't be missed!
Lunch at "Barrio", again an easy walk from the cottage, was outstanding as well!
Though we were all about the local dining scene, for those of you less inclined to dine out, the cottage kitchen was stocked with everything you need to create your own gourmet meals. You supply the ingredients and the good company!
With Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort just a stones throw away (well... about a 20 minute drive) Smith Rock for climbing. The Deschutes River for every variety of water sports. The 3 Sister's Wilderness area. Drake Park at city center. Shopping and Micro Brews galore all close at hand, Bend is at the heart of indoor and outdoor activity.
And Hunter's Cottage is at the heart of Bend.
I love it here for it's simple comforts.
Both beds were more than comfortable. A well appointed kitchen, though not utilized this trip, seemed more than adequate for whipping up your favorites treats. The bath with it's claw foot tub and great water pressure were an unexpected luxury. A fenced yard gave a feeling of privacy seldom experienced in a town setting. And the quiet neighborhood was ideal for an evening walk. The perfect counterpoint to our activity filled day!
My only regret is not staying many more days this trip! For a foodie like me, this town deserves many, many more days and nights of discovery.
And I will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Lorlee and Thomas Ackerman
We have always loved Bend with it's small town charm and recreation galore. Many years later we are still here and still loving it.
Why they chose this property
Great neighborhood with older trees for shade, historical homes and low traffic. Quiet yet in the heart of Bend!
What makes this property unique
Just one of the several thousand 'westside mill houses' that are so very cute and original built out of necessity for housing and customized by the families according to need and means. Historically this house was Ole Halvorson's family home (number two). The Deschutes Historical Museum is a great place to visit while in Bend and only a short walk away! The enclosed front porch with the sweet divided light windows make a great resting place to ponder. You can wander to McMenamins or walk on past to downtown Bend; shop, drink a craft brew, or enjoy a fine meal. Or take the other direction and find the Box Factory, Podski, Miyagi, Immersion brewery, Crosscut Taphouse; choices galore! The Old Mill District is a little further and you can catch a movie, shop, or have another fine meal and a cocktail. The location is perfect.
