"Country Classic"

Crumpler, NC - Bring the family and enjoy abundant wildlife and quietness of nature. You won't need to worry about close neighbors here; the house sits on 170+ acres, and offers woods for exploring, open meadows for frolicking, and the river for fishing. It's only a short walk down the dirt road to the low water bridge if you want to put in a canoe or tube the cool waters of the river. The riverside road also offers a wonderful place for biking or walking. For some winter fun, head to one of our three most popular ski resorts: Appalachian Ski Mtn, Sugar Mtn, or Beech Mtn.

After a day of fun, you'll surely enjoy quiet time together on the covered front porch. As the sun goes down, relax in the rockers while the kids catch fireflies or watch for deer wandering in the fields.

This comfortable country home offers three bedrooms and one bath, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, Satellite TV, charcoal grill and telephone. Towels and linens are provided.

This home was incredibly private. We had more deer neighbors than people neighbors. It was quiet and peaceful, which is what we wanted. There is no cell service, but there is wifi, and the home is equipped with a corded telephone with phone service, so if there had been an emergency, we were covered. I especially loved that no one could call us, so it really did feel like a way to wind down and relax. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. All in all, it was a very enjoyable stay.

The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking and grilling. WiFi worked extremely well. Our family took kayaks and paddled the river. The kids loved the firepit for s'mores! The front porch was so relaxing!!!! Plenty of outdoor furniture!! The house was like going back in time and staying with your grandparents! Very nostalgic!! Our daughter and son-in-law stayed here in 2020 and couldn't wait to share with us! We'll definitely be back!!

Only complaint is there is no A/C upstairs. There is enough space upstairs for several more beds but no one wants to sleep up there due to heat. For the size of the home a second bathroom would be amazing.

Beautiful setting, quiet and clean! Lovely!

A beautiful, quiet, respite of location. Everything was very clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed the proximity to the New River and being able to float down it from the Riverhouse Inn. There is no Wi-Fi, so just be aware of that. As we needed to be in touch with our friends that we were meeting, it was a little problematic but not insurmountable- it’s a quick drive up to the top of the road.

Neat , clean , simple country getaway

House was neat and clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. The area is beautiful and my kids loved playing in the yard. We did the Virginia Creeper Trail and went hiking at Grayson Highlands. Both were a little bit of a drive away but such a beautiful drive we didn’t mind it. We wish there was some more history offered about the property and house itself. Also with the amount of acreage we wish there were some hiking trails on the property as we would have preferred not to leave at all for hiking / walking. Lots of people in the guest log referenced fishing and tubing which we will be prepared for next time.

Great Mountain Retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great place to relax and unplug! Peaceful mornings and evenings with plenty of wildlife. Owners were pleasant and helpful, and the house was very clean and well-stocked. It is a functioning farm, and tractors were running during the days we were there, so if you have allergies make sure to bring your favorite antihistamine.Although technically considered "river front" there is a public road between the house and river, and the river frontage is not maintained and overgrown so access for river activities was not what I was expecting. We chose to go tubing with New River Outfitters (15min drive) and had a great time.

Lovely historic property

Home was clean with nice sheets, pillows, and blankets. The best part is the lovely outdoor setting. There is a mountain in the back with a lovely rushing stream that comes through the side yard. The kids spent hours looking for salamanders and other critters in the stream. The front porch is magical. Deer were in the field in front of the house every morning at dawn. The home itself will remind you of Grandma's house. Kitchen was workable but as with many historic homes, was not designed with a huge amount of counter or cabinet space. It was fine for what we were doing. The property is river front however we really couldn't find a good way to safely access the river from the property. If there is a way to do that, it would be nice to have that included in the welcome information. All in all, we had a great trip and plan to come back.

The river right in front of the house was everything we needed. The old house and style brought back childhood memories.If you rent that property you have to be aware that it really is away from everything (restaurants, grocery, gas etc.). Internet connection is very bad and the GPS doesn't know the roads very well. Got us in trouble once and wasn't easy to find a store or gas station near by. So we recommencement to do your homework before you get there. I was glad we packed enough food and everything we needed.

Beautiful property and quaint old house

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It's a beautiful property, right across from part of the river. No neighbors in sight, down a quite gravel road (great condition road). Not sure what year the house was built, but you can tell it old and has lots character, with the two twin double beds in a small loft room upstairs (queen and full bed in downstairs bedrooms). It's been updated so everything is in good condition. It's about 25 minutes from the nearest town large enough to shop at a regular grocery store, so far enough to get away, but not too far.
